Photo credit: Caity Krone  Today, Mikey Ferrari releases his harrowing new single “Oxycontin” HERE, his first as the latest signee to esteemed Neon Gold Records (Matt Maeson, HAIM, et. al). The heart-wrenching track is accompanied by a live performance video filmed near his Montana home and directed by Jax Anderson.   Mikey Ferrari is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter who discovered music out of self-exploration. After experiencing challenges as an adolescent, Mikey found himself secluded in Montana where music became not only a means of passing time, but a means of genuine expression. Teaching himself guitar and piano, he began writing songs at 17 and started to produce songs for himself in college. Kid Cudi is cited as an influence taking into consideration the story telling and lyrics relating to mental health. On the other end of the spectrum, The Eagles and Billy Joel play an equal part in the musical inspiration of melody and arrangement.  Mikey Ferrari says: “I wrote Oxycontin in an effort to depict a very difficult and scary time in my life, and to remind myself to never go back to that place again. The response to sharing a clip of the song was eye-opening, as I started hearing from people that had lost loved ones or struggled themselves in some way from the opioid epidemic. I decided to open up an email account for people to share their stories in a safe space.
