Bo Ningen Premiere "DaDaDa" Video On Brooklyn Vegan

Bo Ningen Premiere DaDaDa video via Brooklyn Vegan

III due May 20th via Stolen Recordings

US/UK Tour Dates Scheduled Including Coachella, Austin Psych Fest

Artist: Bo Ningen
Title: "III"
Release Date: May 20th (US) /  May 13th (UK/ROW)
Cat. No. : SR077 CD / double LP / download
Label: Stolen Recordings

Bo Ningen today reveal the eye-catching video for DaDaDa, directed by friend and fellow musician KenichiIwasa.

Says Iwasa of the clip, "The idea behind this video was to create very visual and eye striking imagery that talks to your subconscious mind. To capture the energy the band generate when they perform was very challenging.

Bo Ningen are my good friends and I have played with them many times as a musician. That experience and watching their live performance so many times has given me a deep understanding of what they are.

They are individually interesting and very different, I ask them to express with their body how they would transfer their sound into body movement without instruments. When these individuals come together, their collective energy is enormous and their commitment to the band is very strong, I wanted to create one very strong Symbolic image almost like a statue.

I was focusing on capturing the silhouette of their movement and shadows. My aim was to create traditional dance like Butou dance or Noh theatre like but with the essence of modern pop video."

***

Bo Ningen's third album "III" will be released by Stolen Recordings on May 20th, 2014 (May 13th in UK/ROW). It is a rich and accomplished album that has seen them evolve musically. Collaborations withJehnny Beth of Savages and Roger Robinson of King Midas Sound feature and they've sung partly in English for the first time. The album was recorded over several months with the band spending more time on the production and development of the songs. "III" illustrates Bo Ningen as a group with a singular vision, reaching for what they define as 'pure music', by turns esoteric and a no holds barred sensory assault.

UK and US tour dates have now been confirmed – full details below.  Having recently played SXSW, BoNingen tour the US in April, the UK in May and play Coachella festival and Austin Psych Fest amongst many others this year. They will also be performing an in-store at Rough Trade NY on April 27th.

"...hits every pleasure center you want when it comes to synth pop" - Stereogum
"...splices M83 and Washed Out with glorious results." -The Line of Best Fit
"...calming vocals and glistening production put [Pillar Point] in a class with Active Child and Superhumanoids — new romantics whose approach to songcraft is as heartfelt as it is carefully composed." - SPIN
"While most details are unknown about the project's background, it is apparent that there is no detail too small in the composition of the songs. Calling this bedroom pop would not do justice to the exquisite production and calming vocals of the songs to date." -My Old Kentucky Blog

HTRK Stream "Psychic 9-5 Club" LP; Out April 1

HTRK stream Psychic 9-5 Club LP at Dazed

HTRK Psychic 9-5 Club
[STREAM via Dazed / Soundcloud]
Release date: April 1, 2014
HTRK's sophomore Work (Work, Work) Vinyl re-press available now
After being out of print for a number of years, Work (Work, Work) is available again after an initial pressing of 500 copies in North America only. It has now been expanded to a worldwide release on vinyl. Purchase link here.
Psychic 9-5 Club marks the beginning of a new chapter for HTRK. It's an album that looks back on a time of sadness and struggle, and within that struggle they find hope and humour and love. It's Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang's first album recorded entirely as a duo—former band member Sean Stewart died halfway through the recording of their last LP, 2011's Work (Work Work).

Though the record is instantly recognisable as HTRK—Standish's vocal delivery remains central to the band's sound, while the productions are typically lean and dubby—they've found ample room for exploration within this framework. Gone are the reverb-soaked guitar explorations of 2009's Marry Me Tonight and the fuzzy growls that ran through Work (Work Work). They've been replaced with something tender, velvety and polished. This is HTRK, but the flesh has been stripped from their sound, throwing the focus on naked arrangements and minimalist sound design.
The album was recorded at Blazer Sound Studios in New Mexico with Excepter's Nathan Corbin, who had previously directed the video clip for Work (Work, Work) cut "Bendin." Inviting a third party into their world was no easy decision, but in Corbin they found a kindred spirit. The LP was then refined and reworked in Australia at the turn of 2013, before the finishing touches were applied in New York during the summer.

Of all the themes that run through Psychic 9-5 Club, love is the most central. The word is laced throughout the album in lyrics and titles—love as a distraction, loving yourself, loving others. Standish's lyrics explore the complexities of sexuality and the body's reaction to personal loss, though there's room for wry humour—a constant through much of the best experimental Australian music of the past few decades.
Standish explores her vocal range fully—her husky spoken-word drawl remains, but we also hear her laugh and sing. Equally, Yang's exploratory production techniques—particularly his well-documented love of dub—are given room to shine. They dip headlong into some of the things that make humans tick—love, loss and desire—with the kind of integrity that has marked the band out from day one. Psychic 9-5 Club is truly an album for the body and for the soul.

'THE BLANKET OF NIGHT' HERE

Since releasing their sixth critically acclaimed full length ‘The Take Off and Landing of Everything’ last week, the Manchester five-piece has made an impressive Billboard Chart debut by entering at #1 on the Heatseekers Chart and reaching their highest ever Top 200 chart positioning in the U.S, entering at #109 and currently sitting at #83 in week two. Despite selling more than 2 million albums prior to this release, the band also reached #1 for the first time ever in their native United Kingdom last week.

‘The Take Off and Landing of Everything’ is now available on iTunesAmazon (CDDeluxeVinylSpotify,Google Play and in all good retail stores across North America.

The lead single from their current full-length album, is the powerful New York Morning, an ode to New York City, with lyrics partly inspired by chief lyricist and front-man Guy Garvey’s time spent writing and “people watching” in Brooklyn and Manhattan. He recently told The Independent (UK) how a press conference that John Lennon held (before he left the UK for good) also motivated him to write the track, “Why wouldn’t you go to New York?” Lennon enthusiastically asked the press. “Every nation on Earth is represented, all getting along – it’s the modern Rome. Besides, they’re nice to Yoko”.

In response to the song, Yoko recently responded to the lyrical observation with a note to the band, thanking them, also noting “For John, he always wanted to come and live in this city, ever since he saw Bob Dylan on the famous album cover…” She finishes with a warm “Have a great time in New York. We loved it.” The band will be performing in New York City to a sold out crowd at Webster Hall on May 16, and will be making numerous stops across North American the same month.

In other news, this past weekend the band were featured on the prestigious NPR’s Weekend Edition Saturdaywith Scott Simon, with a delightful interview with front-man Guy Garvey and bass player Pete Turner. Listen to the broadcast which features tracks from ‘The Take Off and Landing of Everything’ here.

“The songs on their sixth studio set unfurl languidly, in delicate slow motion. This is stately, gentlemanly music—the sound of aging gracefully.” – FILTER Magazine

“It’s that refusal to paint in a single shade that makes The Take Off… such a fully formed listen from front to back. Garvey and the other members of Elbow have always been craftsmen, focused more on finer details than immediate gratification.” – PASTE Magazine

“Midlife crises have seldom been so beautifully documented than those on Elbow’s sixth studio album.” -PopMatters

“A work of faultless skill and assured sophistication, The Take Off and Landing of Everything positions Elbow as one of the most quietly ambitious and rewarding acts of our generation.” – No Ripcord

Turn Blue was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood during the summer of 2013 with additional recording done at the Key Club in Benton Harbor, MI and Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound in Nashville in early 2014. Of the new album, the band says Turn Blue could refer to:

Check out a stream of "Physical Emotions" below, along with more information about Black Bananas and full single and album details.

LISTEN: "Physical Emotions" -

More about Jennifer Herrema and Black Bananas:

Another year, another jam-packed dance card for Jennifer Herrema, the matriarch of all things that rock as she surveys them from her high perch in Black Bananas, Feathered Fish, and the JJ X denim line. Not only has she got a twisted new heavy music offering from Black Bananas coming in May (you have to hear Electric Brick Wall and even then you probably won't believe it at first, that's okay, just hang in there), but her fashion-and-elsewhere collaboration with Pamela Love is ready to drop another great new thing at the Purple Mag Boutique in April. And then there's the remixes, the photo shoots and the gallery shows that are on the way. 2014's gonna be just fine, thanks....

Jennifer's embodiment of the rock n roll life has won her a legion of freaks and fans since the early days of Royal Trux - a time when she first stepped to the front of the stage and did nothing other than stand there for a LONG time before she sang - and still blow away the band, the room, and what seemed to be her mind too! Or was that just a part of the vision that she was putting in our mind?

It's to hard to know....which is why we are telling you. It's on purpose, man. Jennifer understands subliminal and cut-up and misdirection, all that lends weight to the hammer she's swinging. It's a straight-ahead approach that's underscored by the in-between things. Like for instance, Jennifer's highly influenced by television and the switching of channels.....watching old shit in HD and new HD shit on her phone. Flip the script, in her hands it'd work just as well upside down and backwards.

Since those early days riding the Trux all over the place, Jennifer's been sought out by would-be stylemasters from everywhere seeking her vibe to help them profile their work - and eventually, to just have her tell them what to do, since she obviously had such a righteous idea of her own to begin with. After featuring in loads of fashion shoots, she has lately turned to the designing of items to be worn in those shoots, collaborating with Volcom on her JJ X line of denim creations, and working with Playboy to bring her singular styling approach to their centerfolds. Jennifer is currently exhibiting in the group show This Is Our Art, This Is Our Music at the David Risley Gallery in Copenhagan right now. If it isn't art, then it's music - she will be DJ'ing Richard Phillips' "MTV RE:DEFINE" event at the Dallas Contemporary Art Museum in April.

In fact, it starts and ends with music, even while the rest keeps growing. The Black Bananas record is setting up for maximum impact with groove beats standing just as tall as the slabs of power chords, and all of it floating above a buzzing hive of ?!?. Jennifer's working on a 12" extended dance remix of two Electric Brick Wall highlights (there are eleven highlights total), "Physical Emotions" and "Give It To Me." Hot Chip have turned in a remix on "TV Trouble," from the last record. Music is where it's at! But that doesn't mean Jennifer's gonna slack on the fashion side of things or whatever else comes her way.

That's it for today....too much else to do. 2014 is underway, look for Jennifer Herrema, Black Bananas, Feathered Fish and everything else - coming your way.

About the band...

Born in 1977, in the heady atmosphere of San Francisco’s postpunk golden age, Tuxedomoon released two seminal albums on The Residents' Ralph Records and, fleeing Reagan's America, moved to Europe in the early 80s.

Their ability to crystallize a certain dark and romantic zeitgeist quickly turned them into one of the most influential bands around, yet their music transcended all genres and included impossibly wide parameters –rock, electronics, minimal music, classical, jazz, Gypsy music and pop were all simultaneously consumed and transmutated into a quasi-prescient blend.

Although the band members are now living very far apart (Mexico, New York, Greece and Belgium), Tuxedomoon have regularly been getting together since 2003, touring as well as recording some of their best work to date.  More information here

Filmed at the Rome Auditorium in July 2003, Suzanne Vega performs some of her greatest hits at this intimate concert, including Tom's DinerLuka and Marlene On The Wall. "Widely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation," (Biography Magazine) Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been labelled contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs.

Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has performed at sell-out concerts in many of the world's best-known venues. She'll be touring the UK, Europe, the USA, Japan and Australia throughout March, April and May 2014 - a full list of dates can be found HERE.
