The band’s fourth album, The Heart Is A Monster, arrived in June 2015. The 18-track collection was hailed by fans and critics alike for “brilliantly picking up from where Fantastic Planet left off” (Rolling Stone) and serving as “a stark reminder of why the band have been so influential but it also underscores their status as modern trailblazers” (Alternative Press). Pitchfork dubbed it “a thrilling ride” while Entertainment Weekly described the album as “a jaw-dropping slab of throbbing, fuzzy, visceral space rock.”

Today, the Los Angeles duo Girlpool, comprised of Harmony Tividad (she/her) and Cleo Tucker (he/they), has announced their new album, What Chaos Is Imaginary. The album's lead single, "Hire," is a great example of the band's constant evolution and maturation. What Chaos Is Imaginary is available for pre-order now and due out February 1st, 2019 via ANTI- Records.

Last month Girlpool released two cuts from the album, "Lucy's," which Pitchfork called "a perfect turning point for Girlpool's evolving sound," saying "the gravitas in [Tucker's] voice accompanies a newly embodied confidence; where Tucker once sang tentatively, now they sound rooted and sure," and "Where You Sink," which The FADER said "gets bigger as you listen." NPR praised the songs saying "Girlpool's full-band transformation has illuminated its raw sound in deep and unexpected ways."

Additionally, Girlpool have announced a 2019 spring tour with support from Hatchie. All dates below.

Of "A Delta Blue Christmas" Adia notes, "the holidays in Nashville are that one time of year when time slows down to a halt. Musicians head home from the road and slowly fall back into the pace of home life. For me, the blues and writing were the remedy to offset the fresh-home-from-tour blues. My art rooted me back into myself. So this holiday season I wanted to expand on my tradition of homemaking and the scholarship of the blues and turn it into a community event. There will be a discussion between a few of my favorite minds as we unpack and unravel fact from fabulous myth in the blues, consider its formidable impact and also its implications on the future. How does the blues move?

Certainly, one of its mainlines runs right through poetry. The newly formed Blair House collective will present a poetic representation of a Jim Crow era delta woman who conspires to sing and survive, with her humanity intact, in the deep south. Following, I will perform a few of my favorite delta blues cuts and finally we will welcome new full band as we perform songs from my upcoming album 'Silences', which is indebted to the blues and at the same time seeks to move this vital art form into the 21st century in all it's radical blackness. Join us in the Blue Room at Third Man Records as we pay our respects to the road laid for us, while we look forward to a new year rooted in the spirit of the Delta blues.

Adia Victoria recently announced the forthcoming release of her second LP SilencesThe album will be released on February 22 via Canvasback Music.   To date she has shared the first single, "Dope Queen Blues."

Adia Victoria will be touring the world in support of Silences and the first round of dates kick off February 19 in Washington, DC at DC9. The "Dope Queen Tour" takes her to Brooklyn's Rough Trade on February 22 and The Moroccan Lounge on March 7 in Los Angeles. It concludes March 15 in Denver, CO at Larimer Lounge before Adia heads to Europe and the UK.   All dates are listed below.

Silences was recorded with Aaron Dessner (The National) at his studio in upstate New York.  Throughout the album's 12 tracks, Victoria brings the topics of mental illness, drug addiction, sexism, and all the elements that consume the day-to-day lives of women attempting to make a world of their own.

Two years after the release of her critically acclaimed debut Beyond the Bloodhounds,
and after a season of dealing with life on tour and a new and more public life around an album campaign, Victoria went inward. She notes, "I found when I went back home that the thing that disturbed me the most was the lack of activity. Having to deal with myself once again on an intimate level."   Reading and literature helped her find her way back in. The title of the album is inspired by Silences, which deals with the myriad ways that the stories of oppressed people have been silenced over the years, even though they continued to create despite being ignored.

"Adia Victoria's voice is powerful and direct, with no artifice..  NPR

"Beyond The Bloodhounds-a compilation of gothic, sharp witted, and fiery folk that is excellent." Fader

Adia Victoria is an artist whose deft amalgamation of blues, roots, afro punk, and country have rendered her one of the most formidable musical talents in recent years.   American Songwriter

"Adia Victoria's gestalt can be summed up in a musical Venn diagram wherein PJ Harvey, Fiona Apple and Hank Williams meet Jack White, Chelsea Wolfe, St. Vincent, Gary Clark Jr. and Patti Smith. Her literate lyrics are sharply observed; direct yet intangible, so the listener can project themselves onto her poetry."   Dangerous Minds

Anna Shoemaker shares "Too High" video - WATCH NOW!

ANNA SHOEMAKER
SHARES VIDEO FOR "TOO HIGH,"
SINGLE OFF RECENTLY RELEASED DEBUT EP
EAST SIDE VIA 5TOWN RECORDS

PLAYING TONIGHT, NOVEMBER 13, @
NYC'S MERCURY LOUNGE

Anna Shoemaker - Too High (Official Video)
Anna Shoemaker is excited to share the video for her single "Too High." The track is off her newly released debut EP East Side (5town Records). The video premiered via Blackbook Magazine who note the single "is all jittery beats, sultry atmospherics and Anna's soulful vocals, lyrically telling a story of giving oneself over to a burgeoning romance." Of the video Anna says:

"My dad has always told me to 'never get too high, never get too low,' and I think that’s the first time I’ve ever disagreed with a piece of his advice. I don’t want to avoid feeling my feelings, whether they’re good or bad. I wrote this song when I was falling in love. I was so anxious trying to navigate the beginning of this relationship— I felt out of control trying to figure out if this person felt the same way as me. This song was really my way of telling myself it’s okay to lose control, it’s okay to let yourself fall in love or get 'too high,' because even if it turns to shit, you’re strong and you’ll build yourself back up again.

"The director of the music video, Tiffany Frances, has both an incredible eye and a very cinematic style to her work. We wanted the video to be specific to my personal style, true to who I am, and what 'Too High' is about. 5towns Records CEO, Steve Feinberg, and I came up with the idea for the skating thing, which ended up being a little freaky because we filmed it in an old abandoned bank with very uneven floors. We also purposefully chose not to fixate on someone as a romantic character in this video because we wanted to make it less about a relationship and more about female identity, finding yourself, and being unapologetically who you are."

Anna will be playing tonight, November 13, at NYC's Mercury Lounge. She is on at 7pm and tickets are available here.
"Shoemaker's fun indie-pop sound draws inspiration from R&B vocal tones and hip-hop beats, seamlessly fusing into one blissful hybrid. " - Billboard

“Delicate Steve seems interested in animating rock’n’roll’s most outrageous qualities, using his studio savvy to make it do all the things it can’t in real life.” – Pitchfork
Simply titled The Christmas AlbumDelicate Steve is releasing his unique instrumental take on nine classic Christmas songs with a digital-only album release today via ANTI- Records. Listen to it in full HEREThe album features the Christmas standards “Silent Night”, “The First Noel”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and more. WatchHERE as Steve encounter a mysterious white-bearded man on a hot day in the tropics to the tune of “White Christmas”.
With Steve on the guitar, he was joined in the studio on this album by Joe Russo on drums, Dave Dreiwitz (Ween) on bass, Marco Benevento on keys, Kelly Pratt (St. Vincent, Arcade Fire) on horns and Dan Iead (Norah Jones, Cass McCombs) on pedal steel. These songs are grounded in something deeply familiar but are channeled through the celestial perspective that has been a hallmark of this acclaimed guitarist, songwriter, and producer’s music thus far. They come without regard to genre, geography, or calendar, or reality, really -- from a place we know, but that never exactly was.
“The year my parents bought me recording equipment was maybe the most pivotal Christmas of my life,” Steve said of his past Christmas memories. “I developed an interest in home recording and that's where Delicate Steve would eventually come from years later. I learned how to write music through the process of recording it, so until I started doing that I never thought that I could write a song.”

Steve has two shows planned for the remainder of 2018 that will include performances of these Christmas songs on December 11 in Brooklyn and December 22 in Stanhope, New Jersey, with the Brooklyn show being a co-headliner with Sam Evian. Those dates are listed below.

RANDALL DUNN SHARES ZOLA JESUS COLLABORATION "A TRUE HOME" VIA MUSIC VIDEO BY ESTEEMED TURKISH DIRECTOR MU TUNC

DEBUT SOLO LP BELOVED OUT NOW ON FIGUREIGHT

Randall Dunn, the musician, producer, and engineer renowned for his work with Sunn0)))Tim Hecker
Cloud Nothings, and many more, has just released his debut solo album Beloved on vinyl and digital via figureight. In conjunction with the release Dunn has shared a new short film by Turkish filmmaker Mu
Tunç set to the album's closing track "A True Home," a spacious, cinematic sonic meditation featuring a
soaring vocal performance by Zola Jesus. "In this film, I wanted to take the viewer into a surreal journey
where the whole story reflects the hallucinatory feeling of the song," states Tunç, who shot the film in the
Oman desert with approval from the government. The film features a captivating performance by
internationally renowned Turkish actress Melisa Şenolsun.

"The film is based on a reoccurring dream I had this past year of a woman walking through the desert in
search of water. Longing reds and browns set against the deep sun. I conveyed this idea to Mu, who went
deeply into the concept in a way beyond what I could have imagined," states Dunn. "The song is about the realization that the journey to find 'self' begins and ends at the same time and that this realization occurs
when true presence is embraced." The lyrics for "A True Home" are based on a Zen death poem from the
1600's and are performed by Zola Jesus. Speaking on the collaboration, she says "I met Randall for the
first time about a year ago. As soon as we got to know each other we connected deeply, sharing so much common ground on both creative and personal levels. I was so honored when Randall asked me to sing
on this song, because not only am I huge fan of his work, but this song in particular held great meaning
for him and thus me as well."

Beloved is a seven song meditation on "anxiety, paranoia, different shades of love, different realizations of mortality, how it can make you feel the stages of your life more deeply." Written in the wake of a turbulent
period of change and loss, the celebrated producer shifted his knack for emphasizing the human
component of music toward mining emotional resonance from the subtle details and textures generated
from early digital and analog synthesizers. The gentle encouragement of Eyvind Kang andJóhann
Jóhannsson, and affirming creative contributions by collaborators Timm MasonFrank Fisher (Algiers),
and Zola Jesus were all crucial to the birth of the album.
