Hox is Edvard Graham Lewis (Wire/Dome/He Said/He Said Omala/Ocsid) and Andreas Karperyd (Omala/He Said Omala/Woodwork). Duke of York is their second release following 1999's highly acclaimed it-nessDuke of York is a bittersweet contemporary electronic pop record that could only exist as a result of the unison of these particular peculiar souls. At once tender, skewered, sophisticated, and unsettling, Duke of York is a both a journey through the collective minds of Lewis and Karperyd and a substantial representation of their individual talents. While both tackle the sonic side of the outing, Lewis also presents pleasantly paranoid lyrics and Karperyd drapes it all in a distinguished design. This combination presents a substantial study of the sonically impressive and visually inviting, with songs rich in brooding, dark atmosphere and melodic content. The production retains the mood of classic Lewis output while achieving a fresh and radical approach to electronics and studio production with Karperyd. Duke of York is another significant chapter in Lewis's distinguished and uncompromising career and adds to Karperyd's intriguing output. As with the best experimental pop records, Duke of York unfolds with repeated listening, revealing infinite charms. All tracks written, recorded, and mixed by E. G. Lewis and A. Karperyd in Sweden. Mastered and cut by CGB at D&M in Berlin.

(Columbia Records; New York, NY; November 30, 2015)  Critically acclaimed pop duo Chairlift has released new music in the form of their second single, the inspiring, upbeat groove “Romeo.” The track, which follows the much-lauded first single “Ch Ching” was premiered today on Pitchfork and will be available on all digital sales providers starting on December 1st. The lush, swaggering, running-themed single off their forthcoming album Moth will be released both physically and digitally on January 22, 2016 via Columbia Records.

Beginning 12/1:

Track list for Moth:

Moth To The Flame
Show U Off
Unfinished Business
No Such Thing As Illusion

As to “Romeo”, the unique song is based on the Greek myth of Atalanta, a heroine abandoned at birth who becomes an excellent runner: her father hears of her prowess and demands that she return to society to marry, however, she refuses and proudly announces that she'll only marry a man who can beat her in a foot race, and will behead those who lose. After hundreds have been killed and no winner emerges, a suitor named Melanion finally beats her in the race by throwing golden apples into her path to distract her, crossing the finish line first. “Romeo” is essentially told from the point of view of the braggadocio Atalanta, as her last race is about to start; hence the arrogant and aggressive nature.

Producer and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Wimberly describes that while in the nascent stages of “Romeo”, he and Caroline “started building a groove and it felt like a running beat. Caroline wanted the lyrics to stay true to that idea.”

When asked to describe the songwriting of “Romeo,” frontwoman Caroline Polachek recalls, “I started studying opera two years ago, and immediately fell in love with Handel.  I tried to channel that same stately, baroque feeling in the chorus of “Romeo".

Although the single is the second song to be released from Chairlift in three years, the duo – comprised of writer-producers and multi-instrumentalists Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly – has hardly been quiet.  They collaborated with Beyoncé on her groundbreaking self-titled album via the track “No Angel,” which was written and produced by Caroline and co-produced by Patrick.  Caroline released and toured Arcadia, a self-produced solo album under the alias Ramona Lisa and collaborated with SBTRKT, Blood Orange and others, while Patrick produced and collaborated with artists such as Solange Knowles, Wet, Kelela, and Tei Shi.

An evolution from their last album, 2012’s SomethingMoth proves to be an emotionally uninhibited and markedly stronger, more pop inspired body of work. A very New York City inspired album, listeners can expect to be led through an aural mix of big, rich pop inspired hooks, vibrating bass, lively brass and sensuous R&B inspired vocals, all anchored in the duo’s meticulously crafted instrumentation.

Love’s 1974 Studio Album Reel To Real Out Today

Love’s 1974 Studio Album Reel To Real
Released Digitally & on CD

For First Time Ever Today

Vinyl Copies of the Record Available on
February 19 via High Moon Records

Rich in soulful, unconventional details, masterful singing, crunchy-guitar rock, straight-up Stax-grounded soul, eccentric psychedelia and contemporary funk.” – David Fricke, Rolling Stone

Lee was perfectly at ease stretching the boundaries of his music to encompass the sounds of the world at large.” – NPR Music

Reel To Real captures Arthur Lee and Love at the peak of their rock, funk, and soul powers. Originally recorded and released in 1974 on RSO Records, this beautifully packaged, deluxe reissue features re-mastered audio from the original tapes, a lavish, full-color book with a trove of candid, unpublished photos, and an illuminating essay by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke. Out today, November 27, the album is available digitally and on physical CD via High Moon Records.

What Arthur Lee began on Love’s Black Beauty (released by High Moon Records to wide acclaim in 2013), he brought to fruition on Reel To Real. Armed with a major label budget, and a powerful, intuitive band, he dug deep into the blues, soul, and rock grooves that first inspired him, reaching out to a new audience with his fierce and forward-thinking personal vision.

The album features Arthur’s beloved Black Beauty band: drummer Joe Blocker, guitarist Melvan Whittington, and bassists Sherwood Akuna and Robert Rozelle — who Lee referred to as “cats who can play funky and rock" — augmented by guitar-ace John Sterling and cameo appearances by legendary guitarists Harvey Mandel and “Buzzy” Feiten. To a palette of stinging guitars, explosive brass (arranged by Arthur Lee), deep funk bass and clavinet, splashes of spacey synthesizer, and dream-team female backing vocals, Arthur Lee brought his funkiest and most soulful collection of songs, channeling the most visceral vocal performances he ever committed to tape.

High Moon Records has unearthed 11 revelatory, previously-unreleased tracks from the original sessions, including alternate takes and mixes, live-in-studio rehearsals, and 4 newly-discovered Arthur Lee originals: “Do It Yourself,” “I Gotta Remember,” “Somebody,” and “You Gotta Feel It.” These songs (three fully-produced rockers, and a spare, jaunty, Imagine-era John Lennon, by-way-of Sly Stone studio sketch) were previously unknown to all but their original participants, and present a major addition to Arthur Lee’s catalog.

This ultra-rare bonus material fills out the picture of a fearless, agile and very funky ensemble, led by a masterful singer-songwriter at his feral, exultant best.

Today, NPR Music premiered Shaun Libman's artful music video forChastity Belt's "Lydia," from their acclaimed 2015 album Time to Go Home. Captured in high-contrast black-and-white photography and utilizing hand-made sets, this new video ably captures the song's air of wistful yearning that's made it such a standout track for listeners from here to the airwaves of BBC.

Chastity Belt just returned home from a six-week European tour, including sold-out headlining dates and a run opening for Death Cab for Cutie. Time to Go Home is out now. Review copies are available upon request.

Press quotes:
"Disciplined in its disaffection." -- The New York Times

"Time to Go Home is an unrepentant triumph that will ultimately establish the group has one of the most important musical voices showcased in 2015." -- The 405

"This is feminism as fact; as default...It's the evolution of how young women impart vitally important information." -- NPR

"They're funny, and slightly goofy, and gently vulgar, and they play with an appealingly loose, relaxed confidence." -- Pitchfork

"Digs even deeper into a jaded melancholia that they only scratched the surface of on their debut." -- Stereogum

"Chastity Belt are making a strong case for being the most important band to emerge from Washington state’s Emerald City since Nirvana."
-- UK Press Association
About the record:
Chastity Belt is a rock band consisting of four friends - guitarists Julia Shapiro and Lydia Lund, bassist Annie Truscott, and drummer Gretchen Grimm. They met in a tiny college town in Eastern Washington, but their story begins for real in Seattle, that celebrated home of Macklemore and the Twelfth Man. Following a post-grad summer apart, a handful of shows and enthusiastic responses from the city’s DIY community led them, as it has countless others, into a cramped practice space. They emerged with a debut album, No Regerts, sold it out faster than anyone involved thought possible, and toured America, a country that embraced them with open-ish arms. Now they’re back and the tab is settled, the lights are out, the birds are making noise even though the sun isn’t really up yet: it’s Time to Go Home, their second long-player and first for Hardly Art.

In the outside world, they realized something crucial: they didn’t have to play party songs now that their audience didn’t consist exclusively of inebriated 18-22 year olds, as it did in that college town. Though still built on a foundation of post-post-punk energy, jagged rhythms, and instrumental moves that couldn’t be anyone else’s, the songs they grew into in the months that followed are equal parts street-level takedown and gray-skied melancholy. They embody the sensation of being caught in the center of a moment while floating directly above it; Shapiro’s world spins around her on “On The Floor,” grounded by Grimm and Truscott’s most commanding playing committed to tape. They pay tribute to writer Sheila Heti on “Drone” and John Carpenter with “The Thing,” and deliver a parallel-universe stoner anthem influenced by Electrelane with “Joke.”

Recorded by José Díaz Rohena at the Unknown, a deconsecrated church and former sail factory in Anacortes, and mixed with a cathedral’s worth of reverb by Matthew Simms (guitarist for legendary British post-punks and one-time tourmates Wire), Time to Go Home sees Chastity Belt take the nights out and bad parties of their past to their stretching points, watch the world around them break apart in anticipatory haze, and rebuild it in their own image with stunning clarity before anyone gets hungover.

PINS Premiere 'Got It Bad' Video On Wonderland || Announce SXSW Appearance

 Announce SXSW Appearance

Wild Nights LP Out Now On Bella Union

"The Manchester, England-reared all-female quartet Pins may be the talk of the indie scene - and look magazine-ready, to boot - but their ascent has been as uncontrived as their fuzzed-out, slightly melancholy sound."-The New York Times

"Citing '90s groups like My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain as influences, the band takes a jangly, straight-ahead approach to alternative rock on "Young Girls" --NPR

" They're just a very good rock band making very good rock music, taking a familiar stew of influences and just nailing the fuck out of them." --Stereogum

"Sonically it's indie-pop edged out with a feeling of questioning melancholy, and just a smidgen of menace, and from the second they hit the screen you wanna be part of their gang"--NOISEY

"Young Girls," a sunny-day indie shuffler that flows perfectly in time for the gentle winds of spring" --FADER

The likes of Haim should take note of how it's done"-Under The Radar (8/10)

Still on the heels of their successful second album Wild Nights, Manchester five-piece PINS have announced the release of a free download single 'Got It Bad', which is available now on the Bella UnionSoundcloud Page. Additionally, they have debuted the video for the track via WonderlandWith this video, PINS stick to their strengths, invoking feelings of a hazy summer night complete with sparklers, cigarettes and a youthful sense of adventure. It was shot in the Northern Quarter and Ancoats districts of the band's hometown by Sarah Jenny Johnson. "The song is wonderfully melancholic but its also, essentially, a love song so I wanted this to reflect in the way it was shot," says the director. "Dipping in and out of focus constantly, blurry lights, handheld camera - almost "drunk" in a way. Drunk in love."

'Got It Bad' is a standout track on Wild Nights. A love song, but in PINS own style, it is a slow-paced, exposed and honest track that showcases lead singer Faith Vern's sultry vocals and the tight musicianship of the band.

Faith says; "This is the song where when we were recording, I said to Dave (Catching) 'can we make it more Velvet Underground?' He said 'sure thing' and that's just what we did. Got It Bad is myfavourite song to play live, it's the only song I have chance to breath and take it all in"
This year has seen a packed touring schedule for the band supporting the likes of Sleater-KinneyDrengeand Wire, as well as celebrated shows with Best Coast, Gang Of Four and Stealing Sheep.
They now have announced a February UK and European headline tour along with their inclusion on SXSW's 2016 official lineup.

PINS earlier this year released their second album Wild Nights, receiving great acclaim across media in the UK and US. The album was recorded in Joshua Tree at Rancho De La Luna with Dave Catching (QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal) and Hayden Scott, and mixed in New York with Ben Baptie at Atomic Sound NYC (Mark Ronson).

This year has seen a packed out touring schedule for the band. Along with performing their own sold out headline shows, they have supported the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Drenge and Best Coast and will be supporting Mythopeoia III: Legs later this month, aswell as performing at Bilbao's Bilboloop Festival. Already announced for next year's SXSW festival, PINS have also confirmed a February UK and European headline tour. Full live dates below.
