Bon Iver Premiere Bon Iver: Autumn Documentary With WeTransfer

Bon Iver Premiere Bon Iver: Autumn Documentary With WeTransfer

New Album i,i Out August 30th
Watch HERE to Preview the Production Behind Bon Iver's Biggest Tour To Date

July 31, 2019 — Today, Bon Iver premiere mini-documentary Bon Iver: Autumn on WePresent, the editorial arm of WeTransfer. The film provides insight into the production of Bon Iver's upcoming 2019 tour and sheds light on the evolution of Bon Iver from a solo artist into a creative collective over the last ten years. Ahead of the release of their new album i,i (out August 30th on Jagjaguwar) and the band's arena tour later this year, Bon Iver: Autumn - directed by Andrew Swant - focuses on the impact this growth has had on the band's stage production.
Throughout the film, Justin Vernon and members of Bon Iver discuss maintaining the intimacy of their live shows inside the biggest rooms they've ever played. Introducing an installation of light-tracking mirrors and a sound design that envelops the audience within the music, the scale of these performances has been built to match both the expanse and closeness of i,i
Watch Bon Iver: Autumn here: https://we.tl/boniverautumn
"Any time an artist the caliber of Bon Iver is willing to pull back the curtain and share some insight into the creative process, it's a huge privilege that we wanted to be involved in however possible. Justin and his team crafted a beautiful, insightful piece around taking the intimacy of a live show and continuing to grow that at scale. We're always excited about the opportunity to partner and explore unique creative communities and this was another amazing opportunity to do just that." - Jamal Dauda, Head of Music at WeTransfer.
Throughout 2019, WePresent has continued to bolster relationships within the music industry, sharing unexpected stories of creativity. Other high profile WeTransfer collaborations include projects with Solange and FKA twigs
About i,i
i,i is Bon Iver's most expansive, joyful and generous album to date. If For Emma, Forever Ago was the crisp, heart-strung isolation of a northern winter; Bon Iver the rise and whirr of burgeoning spring; and 22, A Million, a blistering, "crazy energy" summer record, i,i completes the cycle: a fall record; Autumn-colored and ruminative. The autumn of Bon Iver is a celebration of self-acceptance and gratitude, bolstered by community and delivering the bounty of infinite American music.
The sales and accolades are well-known – multiple Gold albums, multiple Grammys, chart-topping collaborations and festival headlines. But even more significantly, with each release Bon Iver quietly shifts the state of modern music. From the boundaries of folk, to the rules of autotune, to production work for others, Bon Iver's fingerprint finds its way across the mainstream every time. Vernon has always been a master collaborator, and on i,i that desire becomes maximal, with guests ranging from Moses Sumney and Bruce Hornsby to Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. Here, the music - and band, and themes, and creative space - are bigger than ever.

THE CHATS UNVEIL NEW VIDEO & SINGLE

THE CHATS UNVEIL NEW VIDEO & SINGLE
After finding viral fame with their single "Smoko", the unhinged Australian punks prove they are here to stay

"The band are hardly resting on their laurels" -
Revolver Magazine

July 31st, 2019

After achieving viral fame in 2016 with a video for their song "Smoko", The Chats have proven to be quite the enduring force, beating the odds of most flash-in-the-pan internet fame. They've won real fans around the world, including big names like Dave Grohl and Josh Homme, who both made a point of attending the bands first LA show earlier this month and hanging back stage (photo below).

The band have just finished their first ever US tour, on which nearly every venue had to be upgraded to accommodate demand, and in keeping with their tireless work ethic, have released another video. "Identity Theft" sees the band confront anonymous hackers who have locked frontman Eamon Sandwith in his computer, where he's forced to watch as all his secrets are unveiled. It's classic Chats, in that it's high octane, absurd, and NSFW.

"Identity Theft" follows their single and video "Pub Feed" from earlier this year, as the band builds up momentum for their debut LP.

"Identity Theft" Official Music Video

Facts about The Chats

✺ Josh Homme personally requested the band to open for the Queens of The Stoneage, after being sent the Smoko video from Dave Grohl.

✺ Drummer Matt got expelled from a school for stealing a golf buggy and driving it around

✺ Smoko video has over 7.5 million views (and counting!)

✺ Guitarist Pricey has never read a book from start to finish.

✺ The band all turn 20 this year.

✺ On their recent Australian tour, Idles covered SMOKO during their set.

✺ After their sell out debut UK tour last year, the band will be playing Reading and Leeds this year.

✺ Drummer Matt is a pro skater.

✺ Eamon worked at Coles.

✺ To maintain his lucious Mullet, Eamon trims the front every coupla weeks, and when needs be, his mum trims the back.

Here to "fuck up the POP peace", High Highs to Low Lows, Lolo's debut 12-track album, includes title track "High Highs to Low Lows", fan favorites "Blue" and "Desert Rose" as well as Lolo's huge single "Ride", which launched Lolo's 2019 and followed on from the release of Lolo's double a-side single "Ocean Beach", which included the self-produced "Lose Myself" and the Blood Orange collaboration"Jade."

Born in Paris, raised in San Francisco and now residing in NYC, Lolo Zouaï is a result of her varied surroundings; an incredible and beautiful hybrid of talent. Zouaï's breakout single High Highs to Low Lows was released at the end of 2017, and saw her catapulted into the limelight - with over 12 million streams worldwide and forging the way for her debut sold-out tour across 5 countries and consequently, a support slot on tour with Alina Baraz. Off the back of a 22 city North American headline tour and with support from The Guardian, Complex, Vogue, Wonderland, Sunday Times, The Fader, Clash Magazine, High Snobiety and more, Lolo is a firm one to watch for 2019. “Solutions reveals a woman unbowed by social pressure, angry by adulthood’s lies and aware of her insecurities but not defined by them.” – Associated Press

“K.Flay methodically tosses aside feminine stereotypes...and stacks up handclaps, guitars and noise behind her gleeful autonomy." - The New York Times

"Beautiful pop-rock with a lot of energy, sharp lyrics, very strong perspective of a queer independent woman." – NPR

“Impactful lyrics have always been important to K.Flay, and that's something that she made very clear on her third album, Solutions.” – Billboard

"K.Flay is nothing less than fully authentic in her new studio album Solutions." - NYLON

"A fizzy blend of jock-jam worthy rock and sugary pop." - PAPER Magazine

"K. Flay is a truly singular talent that is both innovative and entertaining and Solutions is poised to prove this point to the world." - Under The Radar

----------------------------------

Following the release of her third full-length album ‘SOLUTIONS,’ which dropped earlier this month on Night Street/Interscope RecordsGRAMMY® Award-nominated artist K.Flay has delivered another compelling visual, this time for her latest single ‘Sister.’

Picking up from where the ‘Bad Vibes’ video left off, ‘Sister’ is the second part of a visual trilogy that continues the themes of sisterhood and support. Having escaped captivity (from the ‘Bad Vibes’ video), K.Flay and a female companion have broken free, only to find themselves in a world where everyone else seems to be moving backwards. The video was directed by Clara Aranovich and shot in Downtown Los Angeles. Fun fact: Kristine and her ‘Sister’ are the only ones moving in forward motion while the world around them is moving in reverse – To create this, Kristine had to learn the song completely backwards (in phonetic gibberish). Watch the video for ‘Sister’HERE.

In other news, K.Flay has launched the first of its kind music-focused “microcast” (a shorter form podcast) expressly designed and produced for smart speakers (Amazon and Google Home) around the world. “What Am I Doing Here” is hosted and curated by K.Flay and features conversation, jokes, musical interludes and special guests including Sam (X-Ambassadors), Bishop BriggsMichael (Fitz and the Tantrums) and many more friends and family. Equipped with a mobile studio including high quality microphones for her iPhone, apps for recording phone calls and more, "What Am I Doing Here" is recorded 100% live. Whether she decides to record in a supermarket, on the tour bus, or on the phone with her mom or kindergarten age niece, the idea is to transport the listener into her world versus the standard studio recordings. To listen on Alexa, simply say “Alexa, enable K.Flay show” and on Google Home, say “OK Google, talk to K.Flay show.”

This fall, she is also confirmed to perform at Austin City Limits as well as embarking on THE SOLUTIONS TOUR, which kicks off on September 3 in Phoenix, AZ. Following a 19-city run in North America, she’ll venture abroad for the UK and European leg of the tour, performing in London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Prague, Munich, Frankfurt and more. For tickets and more information, go to: www.kflay.com/tour

ABOUT SOLUTIONS
In the Summer of 2018, she re-teamed with frequent collaborators Tommy English [Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves, Thirty Seconds to Mars] and JT Daly [Mutemath], as well as Joel Little [Lorde, Taylor swift, Khalid] and CJ Baran. Recording in Los Angeles and Nashville, she widened the scope of her signature style, incorporating a variety of analog synths along with live bass and guitar, bobbing and weaving between pop, rock, hip-hop, and electronic moods.

“The title SOLUTIONS came to me really early in the process,” she goes on. “The solution to almost every problem is usually really simple. For me, it’s so basic: staying connected to the people I love, taking care of myself the way I’d want my friends to take care of themselves, and doing things I knoware going to make me happy – not what social media or strangers or society tells me. So many of my past records were about problems. Right now I’m in a place where I’m looking for some light. Balance is important. Life doesn’t have to be chaotic in order to be meaningful.”

The first single from SOLUTIONS is “Bad Vibes,” which slips clever quips such as “You’re the sequel that sucks”between a siren swell of synths, thick percussion, and an unshakable and undeniable chant, “You give me bad vibes…” Propelled by resounding piano and nimble rhymes, “Good News” leaps over glitchy beats and into a reminder that we can be “our own best friend.” Something of a spiritual successor to her Grammy-nominated “Blood in the Cut.” The frosty and fiery anthem “Ice Cream” serves up “a breakup song that isn’t too heavy.” On the other end of the spectrum, the uber-personal “Sister” delivers a heartfelt message of sisterhood as she claims, “I wanna be your sister till the end.” “My sister and brother aren’t biologically related to me, and I always wanted them to be my ‘real siblings’,” she goes on. “It was important for me to dedicate this song to them. On a larger level, I believe sisterhood should be available to everybody, regardless of gender. Sisterhood is about creating your own family.” Also featured on her latest album is the Dan Reynolds co-penned “This Baby Don’t Cry,” which The New York Times called"post-punk,” and praising K.Flay for “ methodically [tossing] aside feminine stereotypes.”Most recently, Los Angeles based artist released Not In California.” Produced by Tommy EnglishK.Flay delivers her trademark grit and spitfire lyricism in yet another thundering foot stomper. Speaking about the song, she reveals: "We’re not in Kansas anymore.’ I think we all know that sensation. Of being in a place that resembles the world you know, but feels different somehow. and the difference is unsettling and disorienting and scary. These days I’ve been feeling a bit like Dorothy. I see the plastic islands and the melting glaciers and the 24-hour news cycle where people shout because loud seems to win and I think to myself. ‘We’re Not in California anymore.’

SOLUTIONS is out everywhere now.

KACY HILL Releases New Track "To Someone Else"

Kacy Hill
“To Someone Else”

Today, pop phenom Kacy Hill releases the magnetic, midnight-in-the-80s-esque slowburn “To Someone Else,” her first new song since last year’s “Dinner.” The song, produced by Francis and the Lights, BJ Burton, and Jim-E Stack, is available now via all DSP’s. A video for the track, co-directed by acclaimed director/photographer Chuck Grant and Hill herself, is also out today and can be seen HERE.

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Kacy Hill moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18 where she began her career in modeling, all the while writing songs in her spare time. In 2013, she was hand-selected by Kanye West’s creative collaborator, Vanessa Beecroft, to appear onstage as part of the cast for West’s YEEZUS tour. While on the road, West heard Kacy’s song Experience -- the second song she had ever recorded. She was signed to his label G.O.O.D Music soon after.

Kacy's musical career blossomed from that point on, and she carved a space of her own in both fashion and music. She featured on Travis Scott’s 2015 album Rodeo, and appeared in Vogue, W Magazine, and on a cover for V Magazine. She released her first EP - "Bloo" in fall 2015, followed by Like a Woman, her first full length album, in the summer of 2017.

Since then, Hill has begun releasing her own music on her own terms; “To Someone Else” is the first of many new songs to come. She also has picked up competitive weightlifting, proving her strength goes well beyond her approach to life or her own incredible talent.

8x GRAMMY® Award-nominated Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has officially announced the release of their upcoming EP – “The Blue EP” – which will arrive everywhere Friday, September 6th (tracklist attached). The announcement comes accompanied by the release of the first track off the project, “Kids in ‘99” – available today (link). “The Blue EP” is available for pre-order now at all DSP’s, streaming services, and the band’s online store (here).

“Kids in ‘99” was written in tribute to three children who lost their lives in the 1999 Bellingham Olympic Pipeline explosion in Seattle, Washington. Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard reflects on the inspiration behind this track: The Olympic Pipeline explosion in 1999 was a tragedy that really affected me while we were living in Bellingham. After all these years I felt it was worthy of its own folk song.”

Along with all new tracks “Kids in ‘99” and “Blue Bloods” – produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Kurt Vile) – the EP also includes “To The Ground” and “Before The Bombs,” produced by Rich Costey during the recording sessions for the band’s critically acclaimed ninth studio album, Thank You for Today and held for this planned subsequent EP. The fifth track on the project, “Man in Blue,” was self-produced by the band.

This past Friday, the band received critical acclaim for “Do You Remember,” a track from Chance the Rapper’s highly-anticipated new album (“The Big Day”) on which they are featured. TIME highlighted the track in their “5 Best Songs of the Week,” exclaiming: “On ‘Do You Remember,’ a laid-back, nostalgic jam, rock band Death Cab for Cutie shows up to set a dreamy, throwback mood.”

The band recently wrapped the latest leg of their North American headline tour, including performances at iconic venues from New York’s Forest Hills to a sold-out show at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The final leg of the tour will include stops in San Diego, Portland, and Redmond, WA as well as highly-anticipated shows at Sonoma Harvest Music Festival and LA’s Hollywood BowlThis past weekend, Death Cab for Cutie performed at the annual Fuji Rock Festival, held at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

This May, Death Cab for Cutie co-curated and headlined a benefit with ODESZA at their shared alma mater – Western Washington State. Billed “Double Major,” the show was a homecoming for both bands, having formed in Bellingham when their members were students. In appreciation for the school and the city of Bellingham, net proceeds from the show were donated to WWU’s Alumni Association Scholarship Endowment. Additional info here.

Death Cab for Cutie was born in 1997 when Western Washington University engineering student and budding guitarist-songwriter Benjamin Gibbard first united with guitarist-keyboardist-producer Chris Walla and bassist Nick Harmer to record a demo cassette dubbed “YOU CAN PLAY THESE SONGS WITH CHORDS.” Though Gibbard had initially conceived the tape as a solo project, the eight-song cassette proved both popular and aesthetically successful, prompting him to reconfigure Death Cab for Cutie as a full band. Death Cab for Cutie made their official live debut on November 22nd that same year, a performance recently uncovered and released as “FIRST SHOW, ACOUSTIC AT THE PACER HOUSE, BELLINGHAM WA. 11/22/97,” available now exclusively via Bandcamp; downloads begin at $4 with all of the band’s proceeds benefitting Seattle’s The Aurora Commons.

Immediately hailed as one of indie rock’s most compelling and creative collectives, Death Cab for Cutie’s milestone debut album, “SOMETHING ABOUT AIRPLANES,” arrived in 1998 via the Seattle-based independent label, Barsuk. The band enjoyed a long relationship with Barsuk before making their Atlantic Records debut with 2005’s fifth studio release, “PLANS.” The album proved the band’s popular breakthrough, earning RIAA platinum certification as well as spawning the chart-topping singles, “Soul Meets Body” and “I Will Follow You Into The Dark.”  The latter track was honored with a GRAMMY® nomination as “Best Pop Performance By Duo Or Group With Vocals,” with “PLANS” receiving the nod as “Best Alternative Album.”  “DIRECTIONS,” the 2006 DVD companion to “PLANS,” earned an additional GRAMMY® nod as “Best Longform Music Video.”

Now fully affirmed as an era-defining band, Death Cab for Cutie made a stunning #1 debut atop the SoundScan/Billboard 200 with 2008’s RIAA gold certified “NARROW STAIRS.” More critical acclaim and two further GRAMMY® nominations followed, including nods for “Best Alternative Album” and “Best Rock Song” (honoring the hit single, “I Will Possess Your Heart”). “THE OPEN DOOR” EP was released in 2009, earning DCFC a third consecutive GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Alternative Album.” “CODES AND KEYS” arrived in 2011 and made a top 3 entry on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 before receiving the band’s fourth straight GRAMMY® nomination for “Best Alternative Music Album.”  “You Are A Tourist,” the album’s first single, also proved a multi-format radio smash, reaching #1 at both Triple A and Modern Rock outlets nationwide – Death Cab for Cutie’s first-ever #1 at the latter format.

Death Cab for Cutie’s eighth studio album, “KINTSUGI” made a remarkable chart debut upon its March 2015 release, debuting at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Alternative Albums” and “Top Rock Albums” charts, as well as #8 on the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200. Hailed byMagnet as perhaps “the best record of (Death Cab for Cuties’s) 17-year career,” the album was honored with a “Best Rock Album” nomination for the 58th Annual GRAMMY® Awards – the iconic band’s eighth overall nod.
