LAETITIA SADIER SHARES "LIGHTNING THUNDERBOLT" VIDEO
EUROPEAN TOUR STARTS NOV. 5
She's already asked us, "Find Me The Pulse Of The Universe," and provided us with "The Rule Of The Game." Now yet another entree to the Silencio
speakeasy affirms itself on the horizon, just as apocalyptic weather
changes lives across the globe. And like the weather, the video for "Lightning Thunderbolt" strikes once before your eyes and twice behind your mind. The final angle of a video triangle supporting Laetitia Sadier's "spry, melodic, and totally charming" (Uncut) new album, Silencio, "Lightning Thunderbolt" dazzles with hypnotic imagery.

Borrowing its memorable images from the 1992 Japanese S&M film Topaz (a.k.a. Tokyo Decadence),
HTRK’s video for this live version of "Fascinator" sets palpable
longing against a seemingly endless loop of passing trees in blossom. Mess + Noise have premiered the track and video today. Dazed and Confused have shared the EP in full along with a brief interview with HTRK.
The Part Time Punks Radio Sessions release by HTRK and Tropic of Cancer holds six sublime songs of desire.
Comparable to a fly-on-a-wall Peel
Sessions, the critically acclaimed Part Time Punks radio show is the
sound of the LA underground, run by local icon Michael Stock.
The limited split captures both bands
live at the radio headquarters during HTRK’s first 2011 tour of the
USA, accompanied by comrades in minimalism and melancholia, Tropic of
Cancer.
Flipping this vinyl sounds like two sides
of the same cursed coin, and mirrors a high school dance playing an
endless lustful waltz. BPMs bumped down to a psychic stalk. It’s a
broken and beautiful memento.
The two bands offer a stream each from these sessions. HTRK's "Synthetik" is taken from 2011's mind-bending Work (Work, Work) album released on Ghostly International. Tropic of Cancer's "A Color" is a track originally from their underground favorite The Sorrow of Two Blooms EP available on Blackest Ever Black.
Avialable on 12" or digitally on October 30th worldwide via Ghostly International. Pre-order of the EP available now at The Ghostly Store.
HTRK are currently recording a new album with Excepter’s Nathan Corbin in the producer’s chair, while Tropic of Cancer are reportedly working on their debut album for release on Blackest Ever Black in 2012.

THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27TH, 3PM TO 6PM!

'MEAT AND BONE' RECEIVING RAVE REVIEWS!
OUT NOW THROUGH BOOMBOX/MOM + POP!

“…possibly the band's best album to date. Do not snooze on Meat and Bone: it is out of this world and as addictive as Heisenberg's Blue Sky meth.” Blurt
“… a
long-awaited return to the wild side, with the Blues Explosion offering
up all the mutated musical goodness as you can stomach.” Consequence Of Sound
“The
dream scenario, when a band reappears after a lay-off, is that they
zero in on what made them ace back when, and that they then smash
people with it afresh. Meat + Bone, unequivocally, does exactly that.” E Music
“Their
primal, post-modern blues riot continues to transcend the ebb and flow
of musical trends around them . Jon Spencer and his 20-year old band
get better with age.”**** MOJO
“This
downtown institution has returned after an eight-year silence, and this
kick-ass, three-chord rock ’n’ roll number goes a long way toward
explaining why their new record is called “Meat and Bone.” Welcome back fellas, we’ve missed you.” New York Post
A potent continuation of the finest sonic stunt a horse has ever pulled. Original alt-blues preacherman Spencer is on ferocious form here”. **** NME
“..straight-up,
no-bullshit rock'n'soul…. They're reapplying for the job of America's
most raucous, hardest-working rock'n'roll band, and will let the sweat
speak for itself. “ Pitchfork
“They’re able to whip up a frenzy in short order, and no gnarled note goes wasted. And, man, do they cook up a storm. Meat & Bone is
proof positive that music needn’t be so reverent to its past…Influence
is a tool, but JSBE use it like a tenderizer instead of a feather
duster.” Prefix
“...speaker-scorching.” RollingStone.com
“Indefinably thrilling” - ****UNCUT

JAPANSTER REMIX OF THEIR TRACK "ELECTRIC"
FALL U.S. TOUR WRAPS IN NYC ON
11/2 @ BOWERY BALLROOM

"Three sisters plus a pal (convened by Teeny
Lieberson of dreamy indie poppers Here We Go Magic) cook up some darkly
pulsating basement New Wave rapture."– Rolling Stone
"Mixing disparate influences to create lush,
experimental pop, the Brooklyn-based band floats from florid dreamscapes to
immediate hooks." – Refinery 29
TEEN have made a free download available of the DJ
Japanster remix for their track "Electric". In addition, TEEN will
wrap up their fall U.S. tour with Hospitality in New York City on
November 2nd at the Bowery Ballroom. TEEN'S debut full-length, In
Limbo, was released via Carpark
Records on August 28th.
***
Brooklyn's
TEEN came together when Teeny Lieberson, formerly of Here We Go Magic,
left her post in the latter band in order to make music with her sisters Katherine
and Lizzie and longtime friends Jane Herships and former member Maia
Ibar. Forgoing girl-group gimmickry and fervor, the bands digital-only
debut EP, Little Doods, fleshed out a sound of languid, lo-fi
psyche pop redolent of Paisley Underground bands like Opal and Rain
Parade. Since releasing the EP in April 2011, the band have steadily honed
their sound around New York and readied their first long-player, In Limbo.
Recorded
in summer 2011 in a barn in rural Connecticut and
engineered by Jen Turner of Here We Go Magic, In
Limbo keeps the band grounded in their own world of psychedelia while
heightening fidelity and giving songs the room to take shape. The first half of
the record puts pop at the fore with opener "Better," a Suicide-esque
march toward euphoria through repetition. In Limbo was mixed and
produced by Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom, and his influence subtly
makes itself known throughout the album. "Sleep is
Noise" comes on like a neo-psychedelic tribal stomp with a Spector-like drive,
while "Unable," an all-but-shapeless mass of organ swells and tremolo synths
provides a loose structure for their transcendent vocal acrobatics .The density
and layers of the band's morphing keyboards, driving synths and jungle drums
let their finely arranged vocals sit gloriously on top. TEEN add
levity to their sound through lilting melodies, harmonious coos, and
call-and-response filigrees that complement the heftier aspects of their songs
Current line-up:

Lieberson – Guitar/Keys/Vocals

'METZ' is out now on Sub Pop
METZ will resume their previously announced North American tour
this weekend in support of their critically acclaimed debut, out now on
Sub Pop. The trek kicks-off this Saturday, October 27 in Chicago, IL
at the Empty Bottle and ends on Thursday, November 22 in Montreal, QC
at Il Motore. The tour comes hot on the heels of METZ well-received CMJ and European shows. For a glimpse of what to expect from a METZ show, Pitchfork filmed the bands set at their unofficial CMJ showcase. Watch live videos for “Wet Blanket” & “Headache” now.
The New York Times said of the band’s CMJ performances, "A three-man band from Canada, steamrollered through the festival, blasting brawny punk and metal guitar riffs that generated the festival’s most enthusiastic buzz." Meanwhile, Stereogum raved, "What METZ managed this year deserves salute: The Sub Pop trio dialed into the spirit and muscular thrust of post-hardcore’s heyday so completely as to make a familiar sound feel fresh, sheerly by virtue of so perfectly recreating it. METZ’s sets were brutal and sharp, their movements about stage kinetic and crisp, their commitment to their moment so complete to be undeniable. Namecheck your Jesus Lizards and Hüsker Düs (and a hat tip if you can namecheck more than two METZ songs while your’e at it), all totally fine but meaningless enterprises when faced with a band this in command of its craft. METZ knew its lane and reveled in it, and was every bit the must-see everyone said they’d be." Additional CMJ highlights include top 10 picks & critics mentions from the likes of SPIN, Time Out NY, NPR's All Songs Considered and more.

METZ, led by the singles "Headache" (Mp3) & "Wet Blanket" (official video), is now available worldwide on CD, LP and digitally via Sub Pop.
What people are saying about METZ:
“In the past ten years, independent bands have inched back toward
the musical aggression that was something of a default for the
community in the late eighties and early nineties. METZ, a trio from
Toronto, have fully revived this confrontational, skilled and energetic
approach. The guitarist-vocalist Alex Edkins, the drummer Hayden
Menzies, and the bassist Christ Slorach have made one of the year's
best albums…” – The New Yorker
"METZ songs tend to start with an isolated element-- Hayden Menzies' thundering, hammer-of-the-gods drum salvos, Alex Edkins' solitary guitar screech-- that immediately triggers a ticking time-bomb countdown for the moment when the band erupts in unison. You can see the storm coming from a mile atway, and yet, when Menzies, Edkins, and bassist Chris Slorach launch into the merciless, firestorm battering of "Negative Space" or the wrecking-ball swing of "Knife in the Water", it still startles like a sneak attack." - [8.5 / Best New Music] - Pitchfork

"The Toronto noise-punk trio METZ, on the other hand, were wild-eyed and brutally focused. Playing maelstroms more than songs, they’re like a less unhinged Jesus Lizard, full of coiled ferocity that engulfs you, releases you briefly, then swallows you up again. This year’s Sub Pop debut only hints at their live intensity." ["CMJ's Most Talented 10"] - SPIN.com
"They're pretty much a burst of musical brutality. And seeing them last night at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn was more than an affirmation of that. A trio from Toronto, they'll sit nicely next to your Melvins and Nirvana and maybe even Wire. In other words, their edge is more than attitude and volume and speed." ["CMJ Discoveries: Day 3"] - NPR's All Songs Considered
“METZ have released a few great singles so far…If you dig AmRep, Brainiac, and McLusky and songs that employ that metallic "SHRIIIIIINNG," you are not going to want to miss these guys.” – Brooklyn Vegan

METALLICA TO RELEASE LIVE DVD
METALLICA TO RELEASE LIVE DVD
"QUEBEC MAGNETIC" ON DECEMBER 10, 2012
LOS ANGELES, CA - October 25, 2012 - Metallica today
announced that they will release a live DVD entitled "Quebec Magnetic"
on December 10, 2012. The DVD captures the two World Magnetic live
shows which took place in Quebec City in the fall of 2009.
"This release is a first for us," said Metallica in a statement on Metallica.com.
"Yes boys and girls, the DVD and Blu-ray will be coming out on our very
own label in North America! There are still some "i's" being dotted and
"t's" crossed, so we can't give you a name or fancy logo just yet, but
we're pretty excited that for the first time we get to hold all the
reins on a release from start to finish. Since we now get to call all
the shots, the double DVD and single disc Blu-ray will be available for
a price we thought was very Metallica fan friendly - suggested retail
will be $15.98 for either format."
The setlist for the DVD was voted on by the over 35,000 of the band's fans at Metallica.com this past September.
See below for a complete tracklisting.

TOUR WITH ROKY ERICKSON STARTS NEXT WEEK
![]() |
Brooklyn-based rock and roll trio Nude Beach are fresh off the release of their II
LP, and today are elated to share their brand new music video for "Some
Kinda Love." The video was written and directed by Tom Scharpling, who
is best known for hosting the radio program The Best Show on WFMU, and directing videos for Wild Flag, Titus Andronicus, The New Pornographers, and Ted Leo.
The video depicts the band's energetic live performance, but with anonymous text narration from someone who is struggling to stay on topic; the end result is hilarious. Check out the video below and don't forget that the band is hitting the road again one week from today with psych-rock pioneer Roky Erickson, you'll find those dates below as well.
