Still Corners announce "Fireflies" / "Hearts of Fools" European tour single + Live dates
"Fireflies" premiere w/ Gorilla Vs. Bear
Download "Fireflies" here.
Still
Corners are set to release the heavenly "Fireflies" / "Heart of Fools",
their new, limited-edition, European tour 7" this fall. The single,
which includes "Fireflies" on the A-side and "Hearts of Fools" on the
B-side, will be available at the band's European tour dates and
digitally via their Bandcamp page.
As for the tour, it begins on October 26 in Haarlem, NL at Partonaat
and ends on November 17 in Strasbourg, FR at La Laiterie. You can find
a full list of tour dates below.
The
"Fireflies" MP3, which is now available for download, premiered earlier
this morning. Gorilla Vs. Bear calls the track a "Sweeping, romantic
new single… which gives off some starry-eyed, cinematic ’80s prom
slow-dance vibes" (see Gorilla Vs. Bear premiere Sep. 27).
In further exciting news, Still Corners are hard at work on their follow up to their acclaimed Creatures of An Hour, due out spring 2013 via Sub Pop.
More on Still Corners:
"Many
bands lay claim to the adjective “cinematic.” But how many can claim a
truly cinema-worthy moment as part of their inception? It was a dark
and foggy night when Still Corners songwriter Greg Hughes first laid
eyes on vocalist Tessa Murray. “It sounds stupid but it’s completely
true,” he recounts. “I was on a train that was going to London Bridge.
But for some reason it went to this other stop. And I got out, and this
other person got out. It was Tessa (read more at Sub Pop)."
What people have said about Still Corners "Fireflies": "Sweeping, romantic new single… which gives off some starry-eyed, cinematic ’80s prom slow-dance vibes" - Gorilla Vs. Bear "the tune leans closer to 1980s dance music than previous atmospheric offering, Creatures of an Hour. It’s still full of the band’s signature dreaminess." - Under The Radar "It’s a lovely widescreen affair that takes a journey back in time, and forward in precision." - We All Want Someone to Shout For

Jagjaguwar to Release Official Soundtrack for The Comedy
Available in Vinyl & Digital Formats November 13
|
|
![]()
Jagjaguwar is proud to
present the soundtrack from director Rick Alverson's provocative film
"The Comedy." The release will be available both digitally and on vinyl
on November 13.
On the cusp of
inheriting his father's estate, Swanson (Tim Heidecker - "Tim &
Eric Awesome Show") is an aging hipster with unlimited options. He
spends his days with like-minded friends ("Tim and Eric" co-star Eric
Wareheim, LCD Soundsytem frontman James Murphy and comedian Gregg
Turkington a.k.a.“Neil Hamburger") in aimless recreation and endless
games of comic irreverence. Director Rick Alverson’s provocative
character study touches a darkness behind the humor that resonates with
viewers long after the story ends.
Alverson
worked with Jagjaguwar to create a soundtrack of eerie, bittersweet and
mystic pop songs from the "autumn of the American Era," featuring
artists from the present (GAYNGS, Gardens & Villa, Here We Go
Magic) and the past (Donnie & Joe Emerson, Bill Fay, Amanaz).
Markedly, the soundtrack features excerpts from William Basinski's
groundbreaking The Disintegration Loops, one of the most powerful
manifestations of the inevitable cycle of life ever committed to tape,
even as it documents the inevitable decay of all that is committed to
tape.
A full tracklisting can be found below. "The
Comedy" will be available nationwide via On Demand (Cable VOD, iTunes,
Amazon & VUDU) beginning October 24th. It opens theatrically on
November 9 and will expand throughout the month with filmmaker
Q&A's in select cities.
"The Comedy" Official Soundtrack Track Listing
Donnie & Joe Emerson - "Baby"
"Taxi Hip Hop"
Bill Fay - "Garden Song"
"Old Man Be Dead By Now"
Gardens & Villa - "Carrizo Plain"
Amanaz - "Khala My Friend"
"You Get A Lot of Assholes in Here"
William Basinski - "The Disintegration Loops" (1.1 Excerpt 1)
"I Need You"
Gayngs - "The Gaudy Side of Town" (Single Edit)
"You Are in the Demon's House"
Here We Go Magic - "Over the Ocean"
Bill Fay - "Camille"
"Nick Nolte"
Gardens & Villa - "Chem Trails"
William Basinski - "The Disintegration Loops" (1.1 Excerpt 2)
