Angelique Kidjo Brings Her Radical Reimagining of Talking Heads' 'Remain In Light' to Central Park Summerstage Sept 27

Angélique Kidjo set the music world on fire in June with her track-by-track reimagination of Talking Heads’ landmark album ‘Remain in Light.’ Now Angelique and her full band will perform her ecstatic version of this album at home in NYC, September 27 at Central Park’s SummerStage. Opening is the Resistance Revival Chorus, who also performed with Kidjo at the Women’s March on Washington. SummerStage is the latest stop on an international 2018 tour that continues through the year and has included performances in Los Angeles, London, Chicago and Washington, D.C. Her version of ‘Remain In Light’ will also be released via CD format on September 28 (Kravenworks Records).

Angélique partnered with super producer and 2015 Grammy Producer of the Year Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Rolling Stones, Beyonce) for her version of ‘Remain in Light,’ which brings the landmark 1980 album by Talking Heads full circle, back to the sounds of West Africa that inspired the original. It includes appearances by Ezra Koenig, Blood Orange, Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen, the Antibalas horns, Angelique’s longtime guitarist Dominic James, and Magatte Sow (percussionist for the ‘Black Panther’ film score). Visual artist Kerry James Marshall created the album artwork.

Good Charlotte Release New Single "Prayers" Off Highly Anticipated New Album Generation Rx

Los Angeles, CA - August 31, 2018 - Good Charlotte today released "Prayers", the anthemic third single off their anxiously awaited seventh studio album Generation Rx. The song is available to stream and download starting today HERE. The band today also announced that "Prayers" will see its late night television debut on CBS's The Late Late Show with James Corden on September 13, 2018.

Due for release on September 14, 2018 via a newly minted global partnership between the band's MDDN label and BMG, Generation Rx is available for pre-order now HERE. Limited edition pre-order merch bundles are available exclusively through the band's online store HERE. Good Charlotteannounced the album in May alongside lead single "Actual Pain". In July, the band shared the album's second single "Shadowboxer".

Generation Rx represents both a new chapter and full circle moment for the group-brothers Joel [vocals] and Benji Madden [guitar, vocals], Billy Martin [guitar], Paul Thomas [bass], and Dean Butterworth [drums]. Powered by punk spirit, rock songcraft, and cinematic ambition, they retain the signature vitality and vulnerability of their formative years, while delivering an urgent, unafraid, and undeniable message befitting of two decades in the game.

The quintet craft intricate, yet infectious anthems of hope for a generation under the shadow of the Opioid epidemic, icons gone too soon, mass tragedy, loneliness, and confusion. Produced by Zakk Cervini and Benji during intimate sessions at MDDN headquarters, the record finds Good Charlotte doing what they do best-speaking directly to the youth.

This fall, Good Charlotte will embark on a massive North American Tour in support of Generation Rx that will kick off on October 12, 2018 in Mexico City, and wrap on November 24, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. Sleeping with Sirens and Knuckle Puck will provide support on the tour. Tickets are available now HERE. Good Charlotte will return to the road in Europe and The UK for a tour kicking off February 1, 2019. A complete list of upcoming live dates and ticket information can be found HERE.

Iron & Wine’s Weed Garden is available today worldwide from Sub Pop + EP now streaming

Iron & Wine’s Weed Garden is available today worldwide from Sub Pop

Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2wrbKTm
Apple Music: https://u.subpop.com/2vNk93h
North American fall tour dates September 21st-November 17th with support from Erin Rae, Ohmme, and Carl Broemel

Iron & Wine’s Weed Garden arrives as a six-song collection of all new material, whose roots were planted during the making of last years Grammy-nominated, Beast Epic.  The release is being made available worldwide from Sub Pop and joins the ranks of his previous EP’s -The Sea and RhythmWoman King and In the Reins which contains some of Iron & Wine’s most beloved material.

Recorded earlier this year at The Loft in Chicago, Weed Garden features the single “What Hurts Worse” and the fan favorite, “Waves of Galveston,” which first appeared as part of The Onion’s AV Club “State Songs” and is finally making its official release. Galveston is just a short trip from Austin where Sam Beam lived for a number years, and its coastal beauty is brought to life in this late summer breezy acoustic number that harkens back to some of Iron & Wine's earliest material.

Beam recently stated that “‘Waves of Galveston” was one of those songs that had a more reflective feel and I knew I wanted to do it as an acoustic thing.  I guess it pointed me in the direction of where the rest of Beast Epic went.” He also touched on the EP format and noted that he "really like(s) short records. The more concise the better. Anytime you have fewer things to absorb you observe and listen to it differently. It’s a concentrated statement”.

The Associated Press had this say of Weed Garden, “Beam’s surprise gift is the exquisite “Waves of Galveston,” a fan favorite getting its first official release. Its very 70’s-sounding refrain caresses the eardrums and Nick Drake may have sounded like this if singing about Texas….There are plenty of references to nature — the sea, butterflies, serpents, rain, clouds, flowers, winds and waves — but it’s all related to the human experience and the final three songs sustain the theme. Especially affecting are the gorgeous “Autumn Town Leaves” and the increasingly intense and desperate closer “Talking to Fog.” Weed Garden is both a wonderful bonus in relation to Beast Epicand an enchanting collection that deserves to be valued for its own plentiful merits.”

And NPR Music offers this, “Not only is Weed Garden a consistently powerful extension of Beast Epic, but it also marks the first studio release of one of Beam's live staples: "Waves of Galveston." That outtake has been cropping up in performances...but it benefits enormously from a new full-band arrangement that's crisp and lovely, spare but sweet.”

Weed Garden is available on CD/LP/DL/CS through Sub Pop [link here]. LP purchases through megamart.subpop.com and select independent retailers will receive the limited Loser edition on Amber colored vinyl (while supplies last)

Iron & Wine’s previously announced fall tour schedule in support of Weed Garden and Beast Epic resumes on September 21st in Kansas City, MO at Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland and runs through November 17th in Memphis, TX at the Orpheum Theatre.  Support for the fall tour dates will come from Erin Rae, Carl Broemel, and Ohmme.

Featuring the AAA Top 10 single “Come On To Me,” Egypt Station is already generating rave reviews, with Q magazinewriting in a 4-star review that Paul is “enjoying his music too much to stop now. And so, for that matter, are we,” and Rolling Stone raving“Macca keeps adding new gems to his songbook, with nothing to prove except he’s the only genius who can do this… And, oh yeah — in his spare time, he happens to still be the greatest live performer on Earth.”

The U.S. leg of Freshen Up will begin with Paul rocking the Carolinas, on May 27th at the PNC Arena with Paul’s first show in Raleigh NC since 2002’s Driving World Tour and on May 30th with Paul’s debut appearance in Greenville SC at the  Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show: Nearly three hours nightly of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives. Paul and his band have played an unparalleled range of venues and locations throughout the Americas, the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and all points between: outside the Coliseum in Rome, Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, The White House, a free show in Mexico for over 400,000 people, the last ever show at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert  in 1966, a 2016 week in the California desert that included two headline sets at the historic Desert Trip festival and a jam-packed club gig for a few hundred lucky fans at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, and even one performance broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul’s band of the last 15+ years – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) –and constantly upgraded state of the art audio and video technology that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house, a Paul McCartney concert is never anything short of life-changing.
