Linnea Olsson- Huffington Post premieres AH! album teaser

THE HUFFINGTON POST PREMIERES LINNEA OLSSON ALBUM TEASER
DEBUT ALBUM AH! SET FOR JANUARY 21 RELEASE ON GÖTTERFUNK PRODUCTIONS

“Swedish cello-pop sprite Linnea Olsson spins some sparkling, Joanna Newsome-esque ditties on…her forthcoming debut, Ah! which seems set to charm the pantsoff of chamber pop enthusiasts.”—Q Magazine

“Linnea Olsson’s darting orchestral pop recalls Kate Bush at her most fragmented…Her mastery of the cello—mashed through a series of FX and loop pedals—is nothing short of outstanding…She performs with perfect unity of vocal and instrument, pushing the limits of what we expect from modern pop music.”—The Line of Best Fit

The Huffington Post premieres the album teaser for Swedish cellist Linnea Olsson debut album Ah!, which is set for release on January 21 on Götterfunk Productions. You can view the trailer HERE on The Huffington Post and HERE on Vimeo. Olsson will tour the U.S. this coming February alongside longtime friend and collaborator Ane Brun. Olsson’s first string of stateside solo dates includes stops in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more. Please see reverse for full tour routing.

Olsson, fresh from touring with Peter Gabriel, is more than ready to strike out on her own. Album track “All 4 U” is available now for free download HERE. Of “All 4 U,” Olsson says All4U is a song that is about the first state of being totally in love with someone. I wanted to try and capture the feeling of when you are so smitten that you don´t understand what you´re doing, when you are totally out of control of how your body reacts when you see that person.”

Ah! is an album assembled entirely from Olsson’s voice, cello and in one song the darbuka makes an appearance, a Middle Eastern goblet drum Olsson discovered through her good friend (and producer of the album) Fredrik “Gicken” Johannson.  Throughout the album the two elements of Cello and voice are warped and bent by the delay modeler and loop station that Olsson cherishes as an integral part to her music. “I abuse delay,” she says. “It is my favorite effect of all time.” For Folks Sake calls Ah! “a work of art—so perfectly crafted and at home within its elements that it’s hard to believe this is Olsson’s first solo debut.” To celebrate the release, Olsson will tour early next year.

Of writing the album Olsson says, “I sat down with the cello and it was a bit like a flood. I wrote all the songs for the album during a very intense and short period of time.” After this fruitful and solitary writing and recording period, in between touring with fellow Scandinavian artists Ane Brun and Frida Hyvönen, Olsson asked Johannson to mix and help with the finishing touches on what is now know as the album Ah!.

Olsson grew up in Halmstad, Sweden with parents who were both musicians. She began cello lessons at age six and sang in choirs at a young age. “Music is a part of my life, like love or food or air, really,” Olsson says. The pivotal moment came when Olsson was performing at a wedding at 14, when she used the “pop” singing voice she’d only ever practiced in front of the mirror. Soon after, Olsson was forming bands with her friends to play the music she wanted to play.

UK TOUR ANNOUNCED
The Classic, the much anticipated new album from the supremely talented JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN, will be released MARCH 10TH 2014 on Play It Again Sam. It is available to pre-order now with physical formats from: https://www.musicglue.com/joan-as-police-woman/ and digitally from iTunes:http://georiot.co/4Hj
“I’m in the best place I’ve ever been in my life,” declares Joan Wasser, and she’s just recorded the album that proves it. The Classic, the fourth album of originals by the uniquely charismatic artist known as Joan As Police Woman, builds on the creative impetus and success of its 2011 predecessor The Deep Field. As ever Joan strives to create music rooted in an intimate, elemental and uplifting brand of soul combined with her own unique serene, torch-singing temperament, this time with a more liberated feel than ever before.
The title track is the first song to be released from the new album and it includes a street-corner doo-wop bass vocal from fellow singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur and a human beat-box backing from none other than US comedian extraordinaire Reggie Watts, which gives the track’s classic Fifties/Sixties vibe a more contemporary slant. It is accompanied by a life-affirming video featuring some of the albums main contributors and was shot in the streets of New York last month. The track is available digitally right now when you pre-order the album from iTunes as per the link above.

Cat Stevens To Be Inducted Into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

CAT STEVENS TO BE INDUCTED INTO ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME
INDUCTION APRIL 10 AT BARCLAYS CENTER

New York, NY—December 18, 2013— Honoring a career that spans almost 50 years, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced that Cat Stevens will be included in the class of 2014. He will be inducted with Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates and Linda Ronstadt.
Cat Stevens, also known as Yusuf, is quite honored and with an air of humbleness remarks, “It will certainly bring happiness to a lot of my loyal fans, and fulfillment to all those who have long-campaigned for it—not to mention how kinda embarrassingly good it makes me feel too. The sleepy Peace Train is beginning to chug its way slowly uphill, again.”

The 2014 induction ceremony will be the first ever open to the public and held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 10. Tickets will be made available in January and the ceremony will air on HBO in May.
Yusuf’s career began as a teenage London art school songsmith named Cat Stevens, when he penned classics such as “The First Cut is the Deepest” and “Here Comes My Baby”.
His big success came when Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and the Firecat and Catch Bull at Four made him an integral part of the 1970s singer songwriter movement and later an international, multiplatinum selling artist. After his last LP as Cat Stevens, 1978’s Back To Earth, he hung up his guitar and married under a new name, Yusuf Islam. Yusuf then returned with An Other Cup in 2006, his first pop album in nearly 30 years, which UNCUT said sounded “astoundingly like an album from his
‘70s heyday”. Following this Yusuf again confirmed his welcomed return with Roadsinger in 2009.

Cashmere Cat shares new video

CASHMERE CAT SHARES "WITH ME" VIDEO

WEDDING BELLS EP DUE FEBRUARY 10, 2014 VIA LUCKYME

Recently, Cashmere Cat released "With Me," the first track off his forthcoming EP Wedding Bells. Today he reveals the first visual for the record, a portrait of pure love; one perfect kiss. Check out the simple, yet powerful video for "With Me" below.

WATCH : "With Me" -

Cashmere Cat is the production alias of young Norwegian producer Magnus August Hoiberg - who has caught a buzz this year amidst rumors of some big name production work alongside Rihanna hit-maker Benny Blanco. But while perhaps this is a story you got used to this year as our artists produced for Lil WayneJay ZDrakePusha TFutureJeremihLudacrisRick Ross & Kanye West - we're here to present new music with it's own purpose. Not dependent on vocalists, Cashmere Cat's own music is crammed full of smart melodic ideas and arrangement. These are songs built in equal parts from glittering RnB, touching on French electro, driven by the heavyweight bottom end of 00's club Hip Hop - this is wide, cinematic and unabashedly bright new dance music. Rarely does a new artist emerge with such a unique voice across their work - Cashmere Cat is unconcerned with where he fits with DJs and is more influenced by Pop & Hip Hop than today's stadium filling dance acts. But his music is smarter for it.

Ahead of his first vinyl release in January - the four track Wedding Bells EP - we bring you a taste of what's to come with a single entitled "With Me". Thick, satin grand piano chords open an unusually romantic refrain which collides into Death Grips-esk distorted percussion and Cat's hallmark autotune solos building towards euphoric thizzing crescendo before collapsing to a single beating broken-heart.

For those previously familiar with Cashmere Cat, the Wedding Bells EP represents the next stage in his development with striking attention to detail whilst never loosing its hooks. Along with support so far from: Kode 9Éclair FifiNguzunguzuHud MoRustieBaauerDiploSkrillexA Trak,Brodinski - We are honored to be working with CC to bring you his attempt at a perfect thing in an imperfect world.

Stone Jack Jones announces 'Ancestor' out 3/4 on Western Vinyl

STONE JACK JONES ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ANCESTOROUT MARCH 4TH ON WESTERN VINYL

SHARES NEW TRACK “STATE I’M IN” WITH NOISEY
HERE

WATCH “BLACK COAL” ON VIMEO HERE

Nashville’s own Stone Jack Jones is pleased to announce his third full-length, Ancestor, out March 4th, 2014 on Western Vinyl Records.  Produced with Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater Kinney, They Might Be Giants, plus many more) and features collaborations with Patty Griffin, members of Lambchop, and Courtney Tidwell.   Ancestortells Jack's lifetime of experience into songs that use the esoteric narratives of an American rambler to elucidate the celestial worlds within each of us.

Intensely meditative, the album patiently explores the hardness of the coal mines, the mystery of suicide, the comfort of a dog's acceptance, the idea that forgetting all you know can be the first step towards hearing and reconnecting with your muse, and one man's gratitude for the love he's been given and the life he's had the chance to live.  Yesterday,
Noisey premiered Ancestor’s new single “State I’m In” (quote).  Listen to itHERE via Soundcloud (please post and share).

Based in Nashville, but raised in a coal miner’s company house on the banks of Buffalo Creek, West Virginia, Stone Jack Jones is the descendant of four generations of coal miners.  After being rejected from military service in Vietnam due to epilepsy, and discouraged from pursuing the coal mining business, Jack picked up his fiddle and began a life of wandering.  By the time he landed in Nashville, where he met Roger Moutenot, Patty Griffin, and Kurt Wagner, Jack had worked as a carny, an escape artist, a ballet dancer, a professional lute player, and even owned a strip club.

Cherry Glazerr announces debut LP + shares first track

CHERRY GLAZERR ANNOUNCES DEBUT LP TO BE RELEASED JANUARY 14TH ON BURGER RECORDS

SHARES FIRST TRACK, "HAXEL PRINCESS" VIA SPIN

 LISTEN: "Haxel Princess" -

Cherry Glazerr are excited to share the first cut from their upcoming debut album, entitled "Haxel Princess." The track mixes delicate vocals with super gloomy melodies and punk guitar riffs.

The three-piece band from L.A. took root in 2012 when front woman, songwriter/guitarist Clementine Creevy began making bedroom demos under the name Clembutt. These rough tracks evolved under the mentorship of Lucy Miyaki, of L.A. band Tashaki Miyaki, and were later recorded with engineer Joel Jerome. After adding bassist Sean Redman and drummer Hannah Uribe, the band was formed, and Burger Records released their first collection, Papa Cremp, on tape.

With dreamy vocals and an ethereal guitar, Cherry Glazerr's "Trick or Treat Dancefloor" has become the band's best known song to date, having been featured in a campaign for iconic fashion label Saint Laurent as well as in the television show Arrow.

But the band goes beyond shoe gazey, lo-fi dream pop. Their bare bones style and precise, honest lyrics anchor a diverse sound that ranges from White's Not My Color This Evening, with Sleater Kinney's post punk influences to their break out song, the surf pop "Teenage Girl", which premiered on internationally known style site Rookie Mag and has over twenty thousand listens on Soundcloud.

Cherry Glazerr consistently tour in Los Angeles and Orange County, having played festivals Burgerama, Growlers Beach Goth Party and Jubilee in Downtown L.A. where they shared the stage with Bleached and The Black Lips. Most recently, they played the El Rey, opening for legendary 80's punk band Redd Kross and Mikal Cronin. The band's name is taken from NPR reporter Cherry Glaser, and the band has been invited to visit the NPR station.

Their latest album Haxel Princess will be released on Burger Records on January 14, 2014.

Gliss Share Latest Video for "Waves"

GLISS SHARE LATEST VIDEO FOR "WAVES"
Langsom Dans Deluxe Edition Available Now on Modern Outsider

"the feedback is molten-- the guitars fed through an untold assortment of pedals and blown amps. The volume is surging forward... and sure beats anything the Silversun Pickups have dreamt up."
Pitchfork

Los Angeles duo, Gliss, is pleased to announce the release of their latest video for "Waves". The track appears on their latest release, Langsom Dans Deluxe Edition, available now on Modern Outsider. Victoria Cecilia explains about the video, "The song is a story about two people who have to say goodbye to each other and realize how much they are gonna miss each other. I wanted to capture that emptiness you feel after you lose someone you love, whether it's a family member, friend or a lover. I Filmed the video throughout Europe. At the time Martin had just lost his mom to cancer, and I feel his loneliness and emptiness really was captured in this video, and in these lost feelings you regain strength and hope. We move on and will look for happiness again."

Watch and share "Waves" here.

Danish/American band
Gliss makes a huge departure from their old sound on the new recordLangsom Dans which is gathering comparisons to Beach House, Crystal Castles and Lower Dens. The LA based duo, consisting of Victoria Cecilia and Martin Klingman, pour their collective musical imaginations into recording timeless art pop with a precise Scandinavian texture that steps away from their previous work. The 12-track LP features heavy synths and electronic beats with Danish expatriate, Victoria Cecilia, stepping into the role as lead singer. The passionate vocal harmonies dictate the recordings with stories of coming out of the darkness into a new life, bringing to mind The XX, Portishead and Depeche Mode.

Peggy Sue Tour US Early 2014

PEGGY SUE SET TO TOUR THE U.S. EARLY NEXT YEAR
TOUR STOPS INCLUDE NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES
CHOIR OF ECHOES OUT JANUARY 28 ON YEP ROC RECORDS

“Folky modal tunes, insistent drones and lyrics with biblical and allegorical overtones
…they were tales of love, death and transformation,
invoking tradition but bristling in the here and now.”—The New York Times

“Peggy Sue’s bluesy, soulful brood bounds easily from quirky to profoundly heartfelt, often over the course of a single song.”—NPR “World Café”

“There’s a palpable sense of menace—horror movie strings twist around steel-straight guitars, and Young’s vocal harmonies with Rose Slade’s float like witch’s incantations.”—Rolling Stone

Acclaimed British rockers Peggy Sue will kick off 2014 by touring the U.S. in advance of their highly anticipated third full-length Choir of Echoes, out January 28 on Yep Roc Records. Joined by Mandolin Orange and Mariner’s Children (Peggy Sue bass player Ben Rubinstein solo), on select dates, Peggy Sue will play shows in New York, Los Angeles and more. Please see reverse for full tour routing.

Spin recently premiered the video for “Idle,” the first single from the new record. The video was created from found footage that the magazine calls “eerie” and can be viewed on YouTube HERE. The band says, “‘Idle’ is a song about being unemployed and incurably thoughtful. The opening and closing parts are a kind of troubled gospel song—a prayer for purpose in the knowledge that the purpose will probably not be a ‘good’ one. It’s about impatience and distractions and thinking about things too much. And of course it’s about a boy.”

Choir of Echoes was produced at the legendary Rockfield Studio in South Wales by Jimmy Robertson and mixed by longtime collaborator John Askew. Of the record, the band says “Choir of Echoes is an album about singing. About losing your voice and finding it again. Voices keeping each other company and voices competing for space. The call and response of the kindest and the cruelest words. Choruses. Duets. Whispers and shouts.”

The new album follows 2011’s Acrobats, which NPR called “mountainous and brooding.” Additionally, 2012 saw the self-release of a collection of reinterpretations of the groundbreaking soundtrack to Kenneth Anger’s 1963 cult classic short film Scorpio Rising. The 12 tracks resulted from their performances playing live alongside a screening of the film, and were issued as a series of 1,000 hand stamped, packaged and signed CDs.

Peggy Sue is singer-guitarists Rosa Slade and Katy Young and drummer Olly Joyce. Since the release ofAcrobats, the band has toured across Europe and North American with the likes of Jack White, Wild Flag, Joan As Policewoman and labelmates First Aid Kit, including a recent stop on the main stage of this summer’s Green Man Festival.

The video, which is directed by award-winning French director Edouard Salier and produced by the UK’s Somesuch & Co, incorporates hairless cats, a sci-fi goddess, and Joe Mount in a space suit against a visually stunning backdrop of outer space.

Salier has worked in animation, 3D, and live action to create mind-bending videos, often challenging perception. His music video for French electro-duo Justice’s track “Civilisation” includes apocalyptic scenes – ranging from buffalos to a new world rising – and won ‘Best International Short Applied” at Playgrounds festival in the Netherlands.

“I’m Aquarius,” which debuted on Pitchfork, has been lauded by Zane Lowe as hottest record in the world, and caught 120,000 SoundCloud plays in a matter of hours, going straight to No. 1 on The Hype Machine.

Also out today is the vinyl of “I’m Aquarius,” which includes an exclusive B-side track titled “She Grows.”
