Who is Salt? Why is the album titled Salt? Why did Andrea Estella build Salt? Why did Mr Twin Sister build Salt? Is Salt good for you? How much Salt is enough? Who will hear Salt? Can you hear Salt’s heels clicking down the hall? How tall is Salt? Tall enough to love? Tall enough to fear? What is Salt?
What else is Salt?
ARTIST STATEMENT
Salt is depthless, wandering, wanting, reliant, trapped, restless, waiting, wished upon, released, cinched, trimmed, unseen, erased, outsung, seen, rewatched, unknown, smeared, unsure, wanting, needing, seeking, losing, refined, unobstructed, alone, cold, alien, purified, aged, polished, remade, fortified, forgotten, fearful, longing, waiting,

NOTES FOR PRESS
Salt is the third full length album by Mr Twin Sister.
Salt was written and recorded over roughly four years.
Salt is the name of the marionette featured on the cover of Salt
Salt was built from pearls, fabric, beads, and wood by Andrea Estella.
Salt foregrounds the distinctive, increasingly confident vocal work of Andrea Estella.
Salt follows Mr Twin Sister’s continued pursuit of tightly arranged, pop-informed interpretations of American song forms (r&b, funk, jazz, electro).
The influence of dance and electronic music on the group - a theme explored prominently on Mr Twin Sister’s 2014 self titled album - appears on Salt in a matured, sublimated form.
Salt’s lyrics touch on hopelessness, isolation, missed connections, loss of self, insolvency, the surveillance state, American consumerism, body image, gender variance, porn, and secular spirituality.
Salt features Mr Twin Sister’s first track in Spanish, “Deseo,” in which Estella compares alteration of the human body to the art of bonsai.
Salt makes strategic use of member Eric Cardona’s increasingly sophisticated work as a tenor saxophonist.
Salt features frequent contributions from drummer and percussionist Pablo Eluchans.

“Pete Molinari – if you don’t know anything about him, he’s great” - Bruce Springsteen

Singer/Songwriter Pete Molinari has released the video for his song “Steal The Night” featuring actress/singer Evan Rachel Wood via Nylon.  The song, produced by Bruce Witkin, is the first single off his new album slated for 2019 via We Are Hear - an artist empowerment company co-founded by multi-platinum producers Linda Perry & Kerry Brown.

"I don't know of another artist like Pete out there right now," Wood tells Nylon. "He is so timeless and an absolute pleasure to sing with. It's nice to listen to songs that are poetic and actually tell a story and paint a picture, whether it's beautiful or heartbreaking; he is one of those artists that paints pictures with his music really well."

"I just wanted to remind the world that Rock n Roll, when it’s done authentically, can still be the most powerful force in the world.  It was a little dead for a while.  But will reemerge just like a comet does shooting through the sky...‘Steal The Night’ in that one phrase means that to me.  In the song, melody, the style, the swagger, the cool, the color, the fun, the visual, the guitars, the shoes, Evan, Nicole LaLiberte, and everything that is Me.” - Pete Molinari

Pete Molinari is a vintage-modern soul. He's acclaimed singer, songwriter, playwright and novelist from the UK. His influences are eclectic and range from a plethora of musicians like Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles, and all of the pioneers of rock ‘n roll to prolific authors like Jack Kerouac. Pete has both played with and been recognized by acclaimed artists such as Yoko Ono, Black Keys, and Bruce Springsteen.

Trey Pollard (Natalie Prass, Foxygen) shares new music from Matthew E. White-produced debut

SPACEBOMB RECORDS' TREY POLLARD
(NATALIE PRASS, FOXYGEN,
HELADO NEGRO, BEDOUINE, S-TOWN)
SHARES NEW TRACK "8 PAIRS: FUGUE VIII. MARCH"

MATTHEW E. WHITE-PRODUCED DEBUT ALBUM ANTIPHONE
TO BE RELEASED ON NOVEMBER 16
VIA SPACEBOMB RECORDS

"Antiphone [is] set to emphasise Pollard's emotional and conceptual sound...
Jumping between producing, piano and conducting the small ensembles,
his debut album will highlight Pollard's prowess and attention to minor detail."

Trey Pollard (Spacebomb Records' in-house arranger; Natalie PrassFoxygenHelado NegroMatthew E. WhiteBedouineS-Town podcast) is excited to share "8 Pairs: Fugue VIII. March," the newest single from his contemporary classical debut album Antiphone. Produced byMatthew E. WhiteAntiphone will be released on November 16 via Spacebomb Records. "8 Pairs: Fugue VIII. March" is now available to stream or embed HERE.

Pollard will be performing music from Antiphone at a pair of live performances this fall -- first comes aNovember 13 performance at The Hofheimer in Richmond, VA, followed by a date at Brooklyn, NY's Rough Trade on November 15 to properly celebrate the album's release. Both dates will find Pollard accompanied by a live string quintet.

The music featured on Antiphone had a unique introduction -- its official world debut was via a live stream of the recording session from Montrose Recording in Richmond, VA. Not even Trey had heard the music yet -- this was the first time a group of musicians has performed it, and the stream allowed the listener to hear the music as it was rehearsed, perfected and recorded. The live stream consisted of the recording of two separate pieces with a 16-piece orchestra comprised of string players and a pianist, with Pollard at the helm as conductor. Viewers took a rare, intimate front-row seat as Pollard conducted and instructed his players while they rehearsed, and ultimately recorded, his debut compositions. It's not often that outsiders get such a close look inside the creative process of recording chamber music, especially not for a composer's anticipated debutWatch the archived live stream HERE.

About Trey Pollard:
To understand the composing and arranging world, lineage of learning is key-some subtleties of technique can only be passed from teacher to student in ways unreproducible through solitary study alone. Trey Pollard learned the art from Doug Richards, the renowned Duke Ellington scholar who founded a university Jazz Studies program in Richmond back in 1980. Richards is a brilliant composer, arranger and educator, a featured artist at the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian, and for what it's worth, was once invited to study with Nadia Boulanger, legendary guru of the 20th century classical scene. Richards espouses the view that jazz can be as artistically significant as classical music, placing Ellington Queen's Suite on the same pedestal as the works of Bach or Ligeti. Pollard has a perceptive ability to parse this history, to see his place in it, and draw structures and forms from various periods to inform his writing.

He is entering a new phase, completing a record of contemporary chamber pieces under his own name  featuring a set of preludes and fugues for string quintet and pieces for chamber string orchestra and piano. He wrote within a systematic framework, a series of parallel harmonic planes, constellations of notes unburdened by the tension of standard chordal and melodic structures. Pollard's creative powers are at a certain fullness now, a ripeness matched to his age and his experience in various roles: producing in the recording studio, performing with ferocious skill on guitar, piano or pedal steel, conducting small ensembles or orchestras-often with the same group of musicians he has known for over a decade. As co-owner of Spacebomb Records, his work has been a cornerstone of productions by a growing list of rock and pop artists in the know, Natalie PrassThe WaterboysFoxygenHelado NegroMatthew E. White and Bedouine, and expanded to projects outside that context, recently contributing to the score of S-Town, a groundbreaking longform podcast. The music of his mind is of such quality-agile and prescient, conceptual yet emotional, with an absorbing sense of beauty. Though he might not try to bring down the heavens, they swing low just the same. Pollard moves through the field of creation with surety, finding his own line on the thrill of sound.

Trey Pollard's upcoming performances:
11/13 - The Hofheimer - Richmond VA *
11/15 - Rough Trade - Brooklyn, NY ^

* - w/ Matthew E. White solo

Moby Unveils New Video For "Falling Rain And Light"

MOBY

UNVEILS NEW POST-APOCALYPTIC VIDEO FOR “FALLING RAIN AND LIGHT”

LISTEN TO MOBY AND ATRIP’S REMIXES OF THE TRACK

EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL, AND NOTHING HURT
OUT NOW
Photo: Jonathan Nesvadba
Moby has today shared a stark new video for “Falling Rain and Light,” a brooding, piano-driven track from his latest studio album, Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt. The video captures barren and beautiful landscapes following the departure of humans from Earth. Watch it here.

Reflecting on the theme of the video, Moby saysThe video concept is simple; a world after people. It’s not that I don’t like people, but it seems like we might not be around for too much longer, and sometimes that seems like it might not be such a bad thing.”

The audio for the “Falling Rain and Light” video is taken from Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt (The EastWest Sessions), a dynamic live re-recording of tracks from his critically praised studio album by the same name which was released earlier this year. Stream The EastWest Sessions here.

Also released today is a pair of “Falling Rain and Light” remixes by Moby and ATRIP, respectively. ATRIP lends his touch to transform the original track into a euphoria-inducing dancefloor stomper while Moby’s remix relishes the come down as added synths bring about a sense of sprawling majesty. Listen to both remixes here.

Stream and purchase the original Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt album here. Physical formats of Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt include a gatefold-housed double LP edition and a 6-panel CD digipack edition.

Praise for Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt:
"...the most vulnerable album Moby has made in years, one that doesn’t shy away from desolation and also acknowledges that, within helplessness, beauty can arise." – PITCHFORK

“…some of Moby’s most impassioned performances to date." – CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

"[Moby] explores the end of all things with subtlety and grandeur." – ROLLING STONE

“…a genuine tour de force, both lyrically and sonically..." – BLACKBOOK

"…gorgeous...Fifteen albums in, Moby still delivers the goods." – UNDER THE RADAR

Calliope Musicals share new single "Cosmic Poison Arrow" + sign to Rhyme & Reason Records!

CALLIOPE MUSICALS REVEAL NEW SINGLE
"COSMIC POISON ARROW" OUT TODAY

BAND SIGNS TO RHYME & REASON RECORDS

CONFIRMED TO PLAY UTOPIA FEST
NOVEMBER 3 IN BURNET, TX

Austin's Calliope Musicals (that's cuh-lie-oh-p!) are happy to announce the release of a new single, "Cosmic Poison Arrow."  Of the track the band's Carrie Fussell notes, "Craig wrote the piano and synth parts of this song while we were in New York City which was fitting because I thought the piano felt very old school New York,  The instrumental parts were so exciting musically that it was tough to build lyrics around them... but 5 or 6 musical mad-libs later we created this strange story."   The band shot a video for the single and Fussell further states, "We made this video with one of our closest friends and collaborators Kate Blaising. It all happened very quickly-- less than two weeks from the time we decided to make a video, we were in Originator Studios for 30 hours straight filming."  Watch "Cosmic Poison Arrow" here:

Today's single marks the first bit of music Calliope Musicals have released since signing to their new label Rhyme & Reason.   The label's Emmy Black notes, "we are excited to have Calliope Musicals be a part of the Rhyme and Reason family.  They have a great communal spirit and make party rock of the highest order."

Calliope Musicals is confirmed to play this year's Utopia Fest in Burnet, TX on November 3.

For the unfamiliar, Calliope Musicals is the hottest, weirdest party band to come out of central Texas in a very long time. Led by dynamic singer/songwriter Carrie Fussell, the band has earned themselves a national following with their infectious sound and incredible live show, sharing stages with Shakey Graves, Peelander-Z, White Denim, and the Polyphonic Spree. Fans and critics have been equally impressed. "The Austin band presents a rich and swirling example of modern space-rock done right," noted NPR's All Songs Considered.
