Dita Von Teese: A Musical Film featuring Sebastien Tellier Released Today + Debut Album Out Now

Dita Von Teese: A Musical Film
featuring Sébastien Tellier
 Released Today

Directed by David Wilson (Arcade Fire, Tame Impala), Watch via BlackBook and Share Here

Debut Album Out Now, Music Written & Composed by Sébastien Tellier

Iconic burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese has released a short film “Dita Von Teese: A Musical Film featuring Sebastien Tellier” via BlackBook. The video compiles 4 tracks from her debut album: Saticula - Sparkling Rain - Rendez-vous - Fevers and Candies, out now via the Parisian label Record Makers. Music on the album was written and composed by Sébastien Tellier. Watch “Dita Von Teese: A Musical Film featuring Sebastien Tellier” here.

Like a dream sequence in a feature film, this video directed by David Wilson (who has shot for Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire or Tame Impala) shows Dita Von Teese in her classic 50s Hollywood beauty role ambiguously playing with Sebastien Tellier. It is voluntarily simple and exquisite, with a touch of Tellier’s signature comedy situations. We now can watch this Gainsbourg / Birkin inspired duet play their game!

“I knew this was an album which will never be toured, and so the task of capturing Dita and Sébastien together was an extra exciting prospect," Wilson enthuses. “One of my favorite parts of the script development was fusing an emotive, romantic imagery with Sébastien’s humor. The microscope, the drawing scene, the bubbles, the swing…all came from his brain. An inspired direction that both myself and Dita were all too happy to entertain.”

Recorded in Sydney, Los Angeles and Paris, “Dita Von Teese” owes much to the talents of composer Sébastien Tellier, the singing of Dita Von Teese and the art of two instrumentalists — the programmer and keyboard player, John Kirby, famous for his work with Blood Orange, Money Mark and Solange, and Daniel Stricker, the drummer of the Australian group the Midnight Juggernauts— who coproduced the album with Sébastien Tellier, under the name of Mind Gamers.

ST. LUCIA RELEASES “A BRIGHTER LOVE” AND “PARADISE IS WAITING” FROM FORTHCOMING THIRD ALBUM

ST. LUCIA RELEASES “A BRIGHTER LOVE” AND “PARADISE IS WAITING” FROM FORTHCOMING THIRD ALBUM

BAND ANNOUNCES FALL NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR
Today St. Lucia has released two new tracks, “A Brighter Love” and “Paradise Is Waiting,” both of which will be included on the band’s forthcoming third album on Columbia Records. These songs mark St. Lucia’s first musical offerings since the release of their sophomore album, Matter, in 2016 and are available now on all digital formats. Listen HERE. Additional details on the band’s new album will be announced soon.

Front man Jean-Philip Grobler says: “These songs couldn’t be more different, but we’re so proud of them both. ‘Paradise Is Waiting’ might be the most epic thing we’ve ever done, and ‘A Brighter Love’ is probably the sparsest. It was really hard choosing which songs to lead with, but we felt like these two best represent the extremes of our new music.”

St. Lucia will embark on a headline tour across North America in support of new music this fall. The extensive run kicks off on September 21 with two shows at New York City’s brand new 3200-capacity Pier 17, and includes stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Boston and more. Now Now, The Night Game, and Arkells will open select shows on the tour. See full routing below.

Fan presale for the tour begins Monday, 6/25 at 10am local time (pw: paradise); tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, 6/29 at 10am local time. The band is also offering VIP tickets to all stops on the tour, including a visit to the band’s soundcheck and exclusive tour merch. Visit http://www.stlucianewyork.com/ for more information and all ticket links.
