GLASVEGAS - NEW ALBUM

Glasvegas Logo

GLASVEGAS - NEW ALBUM
'LATER...WHEN THE TV TURNS TO STATIC'
IN-STORES IN THE U.S. SEPTEMBER 3rd

June 26, 2013 - New York, NY - Glasvegas is back with 'Later...When The TV Turns To Static', due out in the U.S. on September 3rd via their own Go Wow Records in partnership with BMG.

'Later...When The TV Turns To Static' is the third studio album by Glasvegas and is the next stunning chapter from one of the UK's most unique bands.  Written and self-produced by lead vocalist and songwriter James Allan, this ten track, 45 minute sojourn of heartfelt melancholia and broken relationships is set against a backdrop of scorching soundscapes that lift the soul into heights of abandoned euphoria.  There is no doubt!  Glasvegas have come home; turned their eyes from the blinding light back into the shadows, where reality lies.

James Allan, Glasvegas song-writer, guitarist, vocalist, frontman, beloved people's poet (and profound Glaswegian), produced 'Later...When The TV Turns To Static' in Glasgow's state-of-the-art Gorbals Studio using a vintage sound desk once owned by Decca Records (and the actual desk Pavarotti's definitive Nessun Dorma was recorded on).

The first single from the album is "If," a pealing, poetic discourse on life's cruel dichotomies. ('If not for fear, hope is nowhere near.') "If" will be released digitally in the U.S. on July 9th. James Allan states "My idea for the song came about during a phone call a while back with my good friend Alan McGee. He was talking to me about something quite difficult that was going on at the time and I said to him, 'Alan, if we didn't go through the bad stuff, we wouldn't recognize the good stuff; it would be invisible to you."

Click here for a first listen to the radio edit of "If" and see below for the embed code. The album will be available for pre-order via the band's website. www.glasvegas.net

Glasvegas is: James Allan (Vocals, Guitar), Rab Allan (Guitar), Paul Donoghue (Bass), Jonna Löffgren (Drums)

Stay tuned for U.S. touring info.

MARK LANEGAN SIGNS TO VAGRANT NEW ALBUM IMITATIONS

MARK LANEGAN SIGNS TO VAGRANT
NEW ALBUM IMITATIONS DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 17

“I’m Not The Loving Kind” Debuts Today

(June 26, 2013) – Vagrant Records is proud to announce that MARK LANEGAN will be releasing his new covers album, IMITATIONS, on September 17, 2013 on the label. Lanegan made the following comments on the new album:

“When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favorites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations.”

Today fans can listen to the first track off the album, Mark’s take on “I’m Not The Loving Kind” at http://soundcloud.com/marklanegan/im-not-the-loving-kind. The twelve-track album was recorded earlier this year and follows his 2012 release, Blues Funeral.  Pre-order details for Imitations will be announced shortly.

DEAN BLUNT SHARES NEW SONG AND VIDEO "FELONY / STALKER 7"

DEAN BLUNT SHARES NEW SONG AND VIDEO "FELONY / STALKER 7"

ANNOUNCES LOS ANGELES PERFORMANCE ON JUNE 29TH

THE REDEEMER LP IS OUT NOW VIA HIPPOS IN TANKS AND WORLD MUSIC

Watch: "Felony / Stalker 7" - http://youtu.be/36sK3VESXy0

London-based artist Dean Blunt recently released his first official solo LP, The Redeemer, via his own World Music imprint and Hippos in Tanks. Now Blunt shares a new song "Felony / Stalker 7" which builds thematically upon The Redeemer. Dean Blunt has also announced a very rare US performance which will take place on June 29th in Los Angeles with members of The South Central Gospel Choir backing him.

The Redeemer is a profound artistic statement as singular as it is somehow familiar, its strange, bruised grandeur rising from a disorientating swirl of contradictory emotion, the curse of love. Blunt evokes bygone memories, from first kisses to humiliation and heartache, be it as the heartbreaker or the heartbroken, and with the acknowledgement that sometimes the two can exist in the same person.

This is undoubtedly Blunt's most romantic collection of compositions, but it's a love that dwells in nightmares as well as in dreams. The listener becomes the character in Blunt's unflattering romance, receiving scorned voicemail messages and whispers from lovers. Musically, the nineteen pieces found on The Redeemer are replete with vivid mosaics of sound and imagery: orchestral sonatas drift into ravaged 4am ballads and feral psychedelia, and Blunt comes clearly into frame as a songcrafter of poise and assurance. Sonically and lyrically, The Redeemer captures the essence of modern romance: delusional, infatuated and all-consuming.

MGMT SET TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED ALBUM ON SEPTEMBER 17

MGMT SET TO RELEASE
SELF-TITLED ALBUM ON SEPTEMBER 17

MGMT are back with their self-titled third studio album - MGMT  - set to be released on September 17.  The successor to 2008’s Oracular Spectacular and 2010’s CongratulationsMGMT finds Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser continuing to push themselves to expand the boundaries of modern pop music. Returning to Tarbox Road Studios to work with longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann (Co-producer and mixer of Oracular Spectacular and Congratulations, The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala), Andrew and Ben experimented with various in-studio writing processes, allowing the music to tell them where it wanted to go. The result is a diverse and powerful collection of 10 songs (including a cover of "Introspection" by 1960’s psych band Faine Jade) that directly mirrors the duo's encompassing surrealist view of the everyday (see below for full track listing).
The world was given a taste of MGMT in April with the Record Store Day release (on limited edition cassette single) of album opener "Alien Days", hailed as an instant MGMT classic by fans and described by Rolling Stone as a “shimmering, psychedelic soundscape” and Spin as “a sumptuously detailed, exquisitely zonked-out space-rock construction.”

In preparation for the highly anticipated release of MGMT, the band have begun assembling a variety of unique visual elements to accompany and illuminate the new music via "the Optimizer".  Produced by MGMT live show video instrumentalist Alejandro Crawford, "the Optimizer" provides listeners of the album with a simultaneously aural & optical listening experience featuring video & CGI work by Andrew Benson, Emilio Gomariz, Geoffrey Lillemon, and Chris Timms.  "the Optimizer" is part of an enhanced album package available on all commercial formats.

“Your Life Is A Lie” will be the first music video released and finds MGMT again working with Tom Kuntz, director of the band's 2010 mini-epic “Congratulations” who has also received wide acclaim for his groundbreaking commercial and short film work. Up-and-coming indie director Sam Fleischner will be creating a clip for "Alien Days", and a video for the serpentine "Cool Song No. 2" is also in the works, both to be shot this summer.

MGMT are currently on tour, recently performing to their largest headline audience in the U.S. with over 10,000 people in attendance at Artpark in Lewiston, NY.  MGMT are set to play select North American festivals and club dates including headlining the Bunbury Festival in Cincinnati (July 13), First City Festival in Monterey, CA (August 24), FYF Festival in Los Angeles (August 25) and Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle (Sept. 2).  In the fall MGMT will commence a tour of Europe with stops in Glasgow, Cologne, Berlin, Paris and more.  The band's first show at the Forum in London sold out immediately - see below for full list of tour dates.  US Tour Dates for November-December will be announced next month.
