“Brooklyn punks exude their exceptional brashness.” – Consequence of Sound

“ It’d leave you breathless if you weren’t humming along.” - NPR

Brooklyn based garage rock trio Sharkmuffin is made up of Tarra Theissen (vocals/guitar) and Natalie Kirch (vocals/bass).  Together, they create super-heavy, jagged, and exceedingly catchy punk rock, which Consequence of Sound states, “As their name implies, this is a vicious band with plenty of teeth.” Their debut full-length album,Chartreuse, will be released next week on August 7 via State Capital/Little Dickman Records. However, you can stream the album now on Consequence of Sound

The album features drumming from Patty Schemel (Upset, Death Valley Girls, Hole) and marks a whole new era in their style of music. The noise-punk-meets-psychedelic power pop group has evolved their sound on the new album, and the result is a full length filled with commanding hits.
Be sure to check out Sharkmuffin on tour this summer!

Pearl Charles shares new video + releases Burger Records EP

PEARL CHARLES SHARES VIDEO FOR "YOU CAN CHANGE" VIA NOISEY

PLAYING AYATANA, BURGER A GO GO AND DESERT STARS FESTIVALS

PEARL CHARLES OUT NOW VIA BURGER RECORDS

WATCH: "You Can Change" -  https://youtu.be/TFeixNSSyJI

PURCHASE: Pearl Charles EP - https://pearlcharlesmusic.bandcamp.com/

To coincide with this week's release of her self-titled debut EP for Burger Records, Los Angeles' Pearl Charles is back to share the video for its lead single "You Can Change." The video finds Pearl, the Fader-described "s moky-voiced sweetheart," front and center. The Angelo Izzo-directed clip is suitably psychedelic for the song's Laurel Canyon-indebted sound.

Speaking about the video, Pearl said that it is, "almost like a moving photograph, layering slowly changing images of myself over faster changing images of nature. These layers are reflective of the constant change all around us, but also the lack of mobility that is felt in the lyrics. Angela Izzo shot everything in-camera to capture a realistic portrait of myself in a surrealistic psychedelic scene."

Watch the video above now and see below for all upcoming Pearl Charles tour dates.

About Pearl Charles:

At the young age of 23, Pearl Charles already has deep roots in the Los Angeles music community. An LA Native, Pearl embodied California rock and roll cool even before she took her natural position as a figure in the local music scene (and beyond). Pearl started logging miles on the road with her first band, oldtimey Americana duo The Driftwood Singers, at age 18, followed by a lengthy stint drumming and singing in garage-pop band The Blank Tapes. The Blank Tapes toured extensively and earned accolades from Rolling Stone and The New Yorker for their sunny lo-fi surf rock. Along the way, Pearl collaborated with artists such as Jonathan Wilson, Stephen McBean (Black Mountain), Farmer Dave Scher (Beachwood Sparks) and Johnathan Rice, as well as toured extensively internationally, supporting diverse artists such as Father John Misty, Matt Costa, Thee Oh Sees, Kim Deal, The Growlers, Allah Las and Mystic Braves. Despite all of this, she managed to find time to earn a BFA in Music from CalArts.

Embarking on a solo career in 2015, Pearl is set to solidify her own name and place by releasing a 6 song debut EP on Burger Records this summer. Pearl recorded her self-titled EP track by track with a select group of producers and a little help from her friends, many of whom are notable LA musicians in their own right, including Joel Jerome (La Sera, Cherry Glazerr) and Taylor Locke (Rooney). Though she draws inspiration from the legendary scenes of the 60's and 70's, from Laurel Canyon to The Factory, from Haight- Ashbury to Muscle Shoals, she also counts contemporary artists such as Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, Sharon Van Etten and Jenny Lewis as influences. Pearl Charles writes and sings songs with a distinctly unique voice, creating a sound that is both timeless yet undeniably here, now.

Air Waves shares new song featuring Jana Hunter from 'Parting Glances' out on Western Vinyl Sept 18

AIR WAVES SHARES "HORSE RACE"
FROM NEW ALBUM PARTING GLANCES  OUT SEPT. 18TH
ON WESTERN VINYL

Nicole Schneit aka Air Waves shares " Horse Race" today in anticipation of her forthcoming album Parting Glances - out September 18th on Western Vinyl.  This time around Air Waves is joined Jana Hunter who guests on vocals.  You can hear the collaboration on "Horse Race" which debuted over at Fader: "a catchy pop song, featuring prodding keys and bright guitars and Schneit's windswept alto delivering uncomplicated sentiments."

Air Waves Live Date:
September 22: Brooklyn, NY - Babys All Right

More on Air Waves:
Growing up in New York's West Nyack community, not far from Manhattan, Nicole Schneit spent a great deal of time during her formative years in the city, absorbing the culture and energy that would become the foundation of her creative drive.  At 14 she started taking guitar lessons in the back of a local music shop, which led her to start writing her own songs, and then eventually inviting others to join her for jam sessions.  While attending Purchase College she met Dan Deacon, a friend and former collaborator who once described her comforting songs as something akin to "a favorite blanket wrapped around you."  Though she played in several bands in college (including the noise jam band Ferrari with Deacon) she eventually shifted her focus to writing and recording intimate pop songs under the name Air Waves, a moniker inspired by the title of a Guided by Voices song.

Schneit enlisted long-time friend Jarvis Taveniere of the band Woods to help record the new album.  Working with Taveniere in the studio, she took a great deal of care to ensure that each song felt exactly right.  As she explains, "Every song feels complete and structured without losing the warmness that I strive for. I wanted them to sound tight and full without sounding overproduced. Jarvis was the guy that helped make that happen."  In addition to Taveniere, Schneit, along with bandmates Keith Poulson, Blake Luley and Jeremy Duvall, enlisted other friends from Brooklyn's music community to contribute to the record, including JB Townsend of Crystal StiltsBecca Kauffman and Felicia Douglas from Ava Luna, and Brian Betancourt from Hospitality.  Additionally, Jana Hunter contributes vocals to album standouts "Horse Race" and "Thunder".

The album's title comes from the 1986 film Parting Glances in which Steve Buscemi portrays a gay man navigating the difficulties of being in a relationship in Reagan-era New York.  "I've never seen a film with Steve Buscemi in it that I didn't love," says Schneit.  More than just identifying with the story, she's interested in the in the lasting effect of the parting glances we share with strangers in our everyday encounters.  She explains "You see all sorts of physical and emotional traits on the train. From people puking, making out, screaming, crying, laughing, dancing, grooming, etc.  We encounter each other in the thick of our complex lives by simply looking at each other all the time. These glances are mundane and fleeting but also powerfully intimate."  The lingering impact of those brief moments seeps into the details and imagery she delivers through her lyrics on Parting Glances.  With energizing hooks and a disarming lack of pretense, the songs on Parting Glances burn with ebullient energy and an emotionally engaging core from beginning to end.

GARY CLARK JR. ANNOUNCES SECOND ALBUM THE STORY OF SONNY BOY SLIM WILL BE RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 11TH

GARY CLARK JR. ANNOUNCES SECOND ALBUM
THE STORY OF SONNY BOY
SLIM WILL BE RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 11 TH
BY WARNER BROS. RECORDS

ALBUM AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER TODAY, JULY 30th

CLARK ON TOUR WITH FOO FIGHTERS THIS FALL

HEADLINE TOUR NOW CONFIRMED!

July 30, 2015 - (Burbank, CA.)  - Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitaristGary Clark Jr. will release his second full-length studio album, entitled The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, on September 11th via Warner Bros. Records. It will be available for pre-order from participating digital retailers beginning today, July 30th. Those who pre-order will receive an instant download of two new album tracks: "The Healing," and "Grinder."  Click here to pre-order.  Additional Instant grat tracks will follow and will be announced shortly.

The Story of Sonny Boy Slim is the uncanny evolution of an artist embracing his roots with a rarified grace, style, and an inextinguishable passion which reflects his vision as a songwriter, groove master, and the vocal force of nature he has become, while his guitar virtuosity already speaks (quite voluminously) for itself.  Click herefor a view into the world of Gary Clark Jr.

The Story of Sonny Boy Slim was written, produced, arranged by Clark, who also plays most of the instruments, with assistance from his long-time live soundman, Bharath "Cheex" Ramanat and Jason Sciba. Backing vocals are provided by his sisters Shawn and Savannah Clark. The album was recorded by Ramanath and  Sciba.

As witnessed by the global reception of Clark's first studio album, Blak And Blu (2012) and Gary Clark Jr. LIVE (2014), the young Texan has established himself as a sonic expressionist and guitar virtuoso who has absorbed classic forms of the past while looking forward to forge his own path of thoroughly modern music that can only be classified as "Gary Clark Jr. Music." The direction of The Story of Sonny Boy Slim takes Clark even further into his diverse musical roots.

Clark has just completed a sold-out European tour and begins his domestic run this weekend at Lollapalooza 2015 in Chicago, followed by a series of fall shows with Foo Fighters in September and October.  U.S headline dates have just been confirmed and will begin Oct 31 in Boston and wind up in Portland, OR, on April 13. Ibeyi debut brand new song "Exhibit Diaz" | Extend worldwide tour

IBEYI
ANNOUNCE BRAND NEW SONG ‘EXHIBIT DIAZ
EXTEND WORLDWIDE TOUR

Recently named by NPR as one of their ’25 Favorite Albums of 2015 + NPR named Ibeyi one of their ‘Favorite Artists of 2015.’'

Since releasing their debut album in February of this year, it has been well documented that the Ibeyitwin-sisters Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Diaz are dedicated fans of hip-hop. Today they release their unique interpretation of the cult Jay Electronica track "Better In Tune With The Infinite (Bibo No Aozora)" which they have named "Exhibit Diaz".

Since hearing the original version of Jay Electronica’s never released track (that draws upon a haunting piano sample by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto) the sisters immediately went away and learnt every lyric, turned Jay’s rapping into a sung vocal line and worked it into their very next live show – where it has remained ever since and subsequently became a fan favourite.

"Exhibit Diaz" was produced by Richard Russell at his Residence La Revolution studio, London, in July 2015.

Meanwhile, Ibeyi continue to take their critically acclaimed live shows to every corner of the globe, from The Park Stage at Glastonbury to the Summerstage in Central Park New York and everywhere in between. Today they announce an extension to the world tour. See full details below:
