Fresh off an incredible seven-date run across Australia that saw her perform everywhere from Boiler Room x Sugar Mountain to closing Melbourne’s Pitch Music & Arts festival, visionary producer, singer & DJ HAAi – aka Teneil Throssell – releases her brand new single, “Purple Jelly Disc,” featuring London-based singer Obi Franky. The track is the latest release to be taken from her highly anticipated forthcoming debutBaby, We’re Ascending, out May 27 on Mute. The track is accompanied by a new mind-melting video created by The Horror’s Tom Furse who has previously worked with Teneil on her AV set at Sonar Istanbul and Mixmag cover.

2022 is already shaping up to be a landmark year for HAAi. In the last few months she’s graced the cover of Mixmag, released her new single "Bodies of Water," collaborated on the critically acclaimed track "Lights Out" with friends Romy (xx) & Fred Again… and played dates in Australia, Belfast, Lyon, Brighton and Istanbul’s Sonar Festival. Additionally, she’s just announced her debut U.S. tour including a very special date at Detroit’s legendary Movement Festival on the May 30.

Already one of the most in-demand electronic artists working today due to her humor, playfulness, and ability to effortlessly weave across all genres, this year will see Teneil become a fully-fledged artistic force. Nowhere is this more evident than on Baby, We’re Ascending which seamlessly merges elements of techno, house, drum n bass, downtempo, and pop-leaning electro into a cohesive and striking project singular in vision.

With community and collaboration being a key theme running throughout the LP, Baby, We’re Ascending features an all-star line-up of contributors including Jon Hopkins, Alexis Taylor, Moxie, and Obi Franky as well as the spoken word poet and trans-visibility activist Kai-Isaiah Jamal. Additionally, Teneil chose to craft the album alongside a roster of exceptional female and non-binary creatives including designer Raissa Pardini, mixing engineer Marta Salogni (Björk, Romy), engineer/producer Francine Perry, string arranger Quinta, and creative director and long-time collaborator Imogene Barron.
