"As a whole, Cut The Wire produces an outstanding exemplar of the artist’s road to self-discovery, and builds more anticipation than ever for the release of her LP [...] Bleed Your Heart Out promises to be a true testament to the fringe cultures of skating and surfing which surrounded the artist growing up." - Wonderland
"With an electrifying soundscape that draws influence from the likes of Suicide, Primal Scream and the Gun Club, the cover cuts deeply into Clover’s authentic rock sound, as she makes the well-loved song completely her own." - EARMILK
"[Adds] a layer of cold-hearted malice to the original’s retro beehive swing" - Joyzine
"Breathes new life in their eerie version of the familiar track [...] the song is taken on a motorcycle ride to the Twin Peaks Roadhouse with its echoing vocals, rockabilly bass licks, and sultry guitar. It has the menacing snarl of The Cramps mixed with the melancholy of a Chris Isaak moment." - Post Punk
"Their version has a grittier edge, with dark, bass brooding instrumentals and captivating vocal lines.' - Indie88
"The new video from LA rocker Kate Clover feels both retro and of-the-moment, with equal amounts of over-policing and bizarre fashion choices reflecting both eras of American life." - FLOOD"A caper/double-cross story transpiring in the desert with a stylish all-female cast." - Buzz Bands LA
"The song is based around fuzzed-out guitars that open with a frenetic start-stop riff, Clover’s vocals straddling the line between retro doo-wop and slightly more modern garage punk." - MXDWN
"Bratty, gritty, glam, and vintage in all the right ways, Clover’s music revives the sound of yesteryear’s counterculture with all of the pop hooks, sharp melodies, and ear-catching punch intact." - Under The Radar
"Gritty, provocative, and unapologetically camp." - FLAUNT
"A delightfully dirty dating game in the video for her rock romance anthem." - Hollywood Life
"A frenzied yet poignant classic girl-group meets punk anthem that sounds like a long-lost Blondie or Kirsty MacColl tune through a Wall of Sound haze." - Post-Punk
"Oozing over swift chords and 1950s Doo-Wop, Clover channels her inner Exene Cervenka." - American Songwriter
"A rampant, retro track with driven, gritty guitar-based instrumentals as Clover wails some doo-wop style lines over top." - Indie88
"Her new work is a departure from the desert rock of her former bands, leaning into the garage rock and punk styles she’s always adored." - KEXP
"Clover’s band—all dressed exactly like her, hair done up just like hers—rocks through “Channel Zero."" - FLOOD
"Mining the paranoiac ephemera of 1960s PSAs and MK Ultra, the video dilates the xerox copy underside of blotter paper for a whimsical tale of psychic control." - Under The Radar
"The title track, which has been newly remixed by Carlos De La Garza (Cherry Glazerr/Bad Religion), is a terrific garage rock nugget with a little late-'70s panache in there as well, all while spinning a tale of love and the CIA's Project MKUltra." - Brooklyn Vegan
"Considered a staple in the LA rock scene, Kate Clover has just released her very first project under her name. Her debut single, “Channel Zero” conveys the traditional punk sound and exudes her powerful vocals with a heavy guitar sound. As well, the song is a “defiant rallying cry against mindless media and political puppets" - Flaunt Magazine
"The video for Channel Zero, inspired by 1960s government PSAs and the French New Wave, depicts a winking nod to Project MKUltra, a CIA-led mind control program whose legend has only grown over the years." - Louder Than War |
