beaming, the duo of Derek Ted and Braden Lawrence, today have announced their debut LP horseshoe, due out April 17th via Rose Garden Records. The band have released buoyant lead single "say goodbye" to accompany the announcement, alongside an Olivia Alonso Gough-directed video. beaming is also set to embark on a U.S. tour with Field Medic, including dates at San Diego, CA's House of Blues (4/3), Austin, TX's 29th Street Ballroom (4/7), Los Angeles, CA's Scribble (5/9), and more. Full routing is below and tickets are on sale now.
"In such dark and uncertain times, making music was sometimes the only thing that made sense," the band explains. "'horseshoe' reflects the spirit of this album: moving through the pain, holding onto hope, and leaving room for a little luck and magic along the way.
horseshoe is the follow up to the band's debut release beaming, which earned praise and support from Paste, The Daily Music Report, Our Culture, and more. The EP introduced Derek and Braden's new collaborative effort with four infectious songs at the intersection of pop, rock, and folk. This comes as no surprise given the band’s pedigree: Braden spent over a decade playing in Philadelphia-based indie darling The Districts, while Derek is a solo artist and prolific producer who has lent his talents to rising stars like Odie Leigh, Runnner, and Field Medic.
Over the 10 captivating tracks on horseshoe, beaming's razor-sharp pop production and soul-searching lyricism capture the spirit of embracing joy and rejecting rigidity even in moments of emotional turbulence. After a busy year opening for Vundabar, Runnner, Goon, and more, beaming has found their footing both on the road and in the studio. The result is a band that knows exactly who they are and an album that cuts straight to the heart of what makes pop music so disarming.
