May 31, 2017, Union City, N.J. – Dälek, who have been “Mixing the searing political rhetoric of Public Enemy, the suffocating shoegaze textures of My Bloody Valentine and the primal appeal of squealing industrial noise” for over 18 years (Rolling Stone), return to Ipecac Recordings withEndangered Philosophies, the trio’s fifth Ipecac release and seventh album overall.
“Along with the Melvins and ISIS (the band), Dälek helped form the foundation of our label,” said Ipecac Recordings co-founder Greg Werckman. “We could not be happier to be working with them again. They remain unique and uncompromising and continue to defy genre limitations.”

“Before Def Jux, before Death Grips, before Yeezus, there was Dälek” (Noisey). Pioneers of alt hip-hop, Dälek features rapper/producer MC Dälek, producer/live electronics Mike Manteca and turntablist DJ rEk. With roots in the mid-‘90s DIY scene, Dälek has consistently released groundbreaking albums, starting with their 1998 debut EP, Negro Necro Nekros, which NME said saw the outfit “deconstruct hip hop” to 2016’s Asphalt for Eden, hailed by Pitchfork for its subtlety and restraint, saying “on Asphalt for Eden, hip hop ascends into the noosphere.”

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE RELEASES NEW SONG "SKYLINE"
BSS also introduces the new Broken Playlist App For Spotify

Toronto's Broken Social Scene have today shared "Skyline," the third track released from their upcoming album Hug of Thunder, out on Arts & Crafts on July 7th, 2017."Skyline" is available for purchase and streaming HERE. The track is released in advance of Broken Social Scene's appearances at both Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain and headlining Field Trip in Toronto, ON this weekend.
Broken Social Scene have also unveiled the Broken Playlist App for Spotify. With over 100 songs in their critically acclaimed catalogue, the Broken Playlist App creates dynamic, one-of-a-kind playlists of Broken Social Scene songs for whatever mood you want - from makeout music to beach days to road trip anthems and more. Click HERE to check out the app.
Produced by Joe Chiccarelli and mixed by Shawn Everett, Hug Of Thunder is everythingBSS fans love from the Canadian collective and then some, an album overflowing with glorious open chords, multi-voice harmonies, spacious psychedelia-tinted breakdowns, and more. It is a panoramic, expansive album that manages to be both epic and intimate; and like all things BSS, in troubled times, it offers a serotonin rush of positivity. Since their inception in the early Aughts, BSS have always pushed sonic boundaries while remaining reverent of a perfect chorus; almost twenty years down the line, Hug Of Thunder sharpens that balance. The record's twelve songs refract the band's varying emotions, methods, and techniques in ways that not only reference their other albums, but surpass them. Hug Of Thunder is righteous but warm, angry but loving, melodic but uncompromising. And if you've ever fallen in love with Broken Social Scene - as many of us have - it is a perfect return that was truly worth the wait.
Broken Social Scene is:
Kevin Drew John Crossingham

Due out June 16, 2017 on Invisible Hands Music, her new album EXISTENTIAL BEAST follows a busy period for MIRANDA which included the release Echoes of the Dreamtime (LP, 2016), U.S. and European tours, creating music for the new Viceland series "Jungletown"as well as composing and performing "Hero Of the Silent War" the for the film The Hornet's Nest. EXISTENTIAL BEAST is a political album, examining the current issues of our time, with the intent of tackling tough and taboo subjects in a poetic and heartfelt manner. The title is also a mash-up of terms, referencing the existential crisis that has risen. MIRANDA says of EXISTENTIAL BEAST, "We are working within those animal urges of fear, competition, survival and sexuality which are deep-seeded and manifesting in varying ways. Like it or not, these tendencies have been revealed, within our leaders, our countries and ourselves; it is indeed a pivotal and transformational moment in time and there is much work to be done." EXISTENTIAL BEAST is yet another confident and inspiring piece of work from MIRANDA.
