This summer, New Jersey based indie dream-pop outfit, Lips of Strangers, made waves with the announcement of their sophomore EP, Too Long For Lovers and a lead single of the same name. Though the band is relatively new, its members are seasoned performers, having previously toured with acts like Hot Chip, French Horn Rebellion, Pink Flamingo Rhythm Review, and Ra Ra Riot.
Today, the 80's tinged ethereal project, lead by frontman Spencer Miles is unveiling the EP alongside focus track, “Your Heart Is a Winding Road,” a funky, electric and danceable catharsis. Guided by shimmering synth-driven textures, hypnotic guitar riffs and echoing vocals, the track maintains the band’s signature shoegaze-inspired, dreamy pop with tender, emotionally charged songwriting—striking a balance between dreamlike beauty and urgent unrest.
Miles shares: "Your Heart Is a Winding Road was the first breakthrough song I had after our first EP was completed. Sometimes after you release music you’re happy with, there’s a part of you that questions if you’ve written everything that you’ll ever think is decent, and I was a little bit in that place. I knew we needed songs to play live because our first EP only had 4 songs, and for me the act of writing and producing is really just a means to an end to getting out in front of people and playing, so I knew I had to write. This added pressure and a few failed attempts can start to sow doubt, so when I hit upon this idea it was such a relief to me to feel like, “ok I can still do this, I have more in the tank.” And then the rest of the EP became a little easier to write at that point." The five-track EP showcases the talents of Spencer Miles (guitar, bass, keys, vocals), Kate Victor (keys, vocals), Zach Abramson (bass), Tim Alworth (drums), and Jim Orso (drums, percussion). A triple threat, Miles also produced the record and serves as the group’s frontman.
Too Long For Lovers marks their second EP release in 2025, following their self-titled debut earlier this year. Originally written to expand their live set, four of the new tracks were road-tested and refined on stage before heading into the studio—channeling the raw energy of their performances into the recordings and resulting in this dynamic collection.
