Today, Guided By Voices have released their new track "Lucy's World," the third single from their upcoming album Thick Rich and Delicious, out October 31st via GBV Inc Records. With triumphant melodies, power-pop leanings, and scuzzy production, the song is a perfect encapsulation of the sonic direction on the new LP. "Lucy's World" premiered via Brooklyn Vegan and follows "Phantasmagoric Upstarts," and "(You Can't Go Back To) Oxford Talawanda," which earned praise and support from Rolling Stone, FLOOD, Stereogum, Magnet, and many more.
Thick, Rich and Delicious, produced and engineered by Travis Harrison, overflows with hooks. It plays through front-to-back like a power pop classic, but don’t misconstrue pop for soft. The basic tracks were cut live and hot to tape and are presented with minimal overdubs. The band recorded in a Brooklyn studio at extreme volumes, conjuring the spontaneity and electric energy of their legendary live show. Complimenting Pollard's lead vocals, harmonies are sung by Grammy-nominated Bobby Bare Jr & Pollard (aka "The Self-Righteous Bros"). The sound delivers on the album's titular promise: Thick Rich and Delicious.
Guided By Voices is Robert Pollard, Doug Gillard, Bobby Bare Jr., Mark Shue, and Kevin March.
Thick Rich And Delicious by Guided By Voices is out 10/31. Single "Lucy's World" is out today. |
