APPLE MUSIC AND ROBERT GLASPER LAUNCH

‘IN MY ELEMENT’ RADIO

Today, five-time Grammy award-winning pianist and composer Robert Glasper releases his third project of 2024, the Apple Music exclusive Keys to the City: Volume 1. A monumental testament to the magic of collaboration and improvisation, this new album finds Glasper in his element featuring live recordings from his annual “ROBTOBER” residency at the Blue Note in NYC, providing listeners with a glimpse of the magic that audiences have come to cherish over the last six years. The project features a selection of highlight performances including The Roots’ “Step Into the Realm” featuring Black ThoughtOutkast’s “Prototype” as sung by Norah Jones, a cover of Chick Corea’s “Paint the World” featuring Thundercat, a particularly dialed-in arrangement of Glasper’s early-career Mulgrew Miller tribute “One for Grew,” and an impossibly groovy revamp of Ready for the World’s “Love You Down” sung by the voice we hear on all three of Glasper’s 2024 Apple Music collaborative projects, Meshell Ndegeocello.

Starting this week, Robert Glasper fans eager to explore the inner workings of the acclaimed pianist and composer can tune in and listen to his new Apple Music radio show, "In My Element,” on Apple Music’s global live-streaming radio station. As part of his exclusive partnership with Apple Music, Glasper is taking a brief break from his packed performance schedule during his month-long ROBTOBER residency at the Blue Note to record this special series. “The show gives me the platform to keep people in the loop of what’s happening, and it’s always new things, surprise things,” Glasper says. “It’s just kind of giving people a play-by-play of my life in that moment. I do so many things and there’s so much to talk about between all the different gigs that I play and different places I got to be and different projects I’m working on. A lot of people just want insight into that world, what it’s like to be Robert Glasper.” “In My Element" debuted on October 9 on Apple Music 1. Fans can tune in and listen live for free on Wednesdays at 1pm PT or listen on demand anytime with an Apple Music subscription HERE. Apple Music listeners can catch an exclusive listen to Keys to the City Volume 1 album with background and commentary from Glasper during episode 1 of In My Element radio on Apple Music 1.

This month, Glasper kicked off the sixth season of ROBTOBER at the Blue Note NYC, with 49 shows in 25 nights, running until November 3. ROBTOBER has become a musical tradition of legendary status that brings fans together from all around the world, highlighting the most iconic names in entertainment in an intimate and once in a lifetime experience. For the rest of the month, Glasper joins forces with Raye, Questlove, Andra Day, Marsha Ambrosius, Doobie Powell, Little Brother, and many more, including a special tribute show for Casey Benjamin. More information and tickets can be found at www.bluenotejazz.com/nyc/.

Over the summer, Glasper joined Blue Note Entertainment Group and Black Radio Productions as Artist in Residence at The Black Radio Experience at The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa Valley, CA. Inspired by Glasper’s annual Robtober residency at the Blue Note in NYC, The Black Radio Experience was an immersive journey into the soul of music, transcending boundaries and celebrating the rich tapestry of Black culture. Headliners across the 3 day weekend event included John Legend, Jill Scott and Andre 3000, and performances by Andra Day, Common, Nile Rodgers, Ledisi, Terrace Martin and more including daily performances from Glasper himself.
