Now, Lion shares a powerfully intimate live version of “Home” via her “Van Sessions” series which she launched last year as a way to  perform from the safety of her van during the Covid-19 lockdown in the UK. “I wrote ‘Home’ a few years ago about the small town I grew up in,” Lion tells American Songwriter. “Even though I always wanted to move away from it, it’s forever remained a huge part of my identity. My brother produced this song at our parent’s house during lockdown, and with a lack of resources we even had to rope my parents into being backing singers so it has even more of a ‘home’ feel than I had ever imagined.”  Frances  Lion has been making music for most of her life though she knew that her small home town of Hampshire, England wasn’t going to be the place for her to grow as an artist. The moment she finished high school, she set off to explore the world including France and the Australian Gold Coast, and was able to branch out and grow as a musician. Through performing her original songs, as well as covers at local bars and venues, Frances’ demo made its way to Linda Perry in Los Angeles. Once connected with Perry, Frances began to write and create new music, pushing her to be the powerful singer-songwriter she is today. Through Linda Perry’s recently announced partnership with Repost, they will be working together to identify breaking artists and create customized creator service programs to develop their careers both on and off SoundCloud. Frances’ “Home” is the first release as part of Perry and Repost’s partnership.
