vōx RELEASES NEW SINGLE "I AM NOT A GOD," SIGNS TO ARTS & CRAFTS

LISTEN TO "I AM NOT A GOD"

LA-based singer-songwriter-producer vōx (pronounced "wokes," the Latin word for "voice") has just shared her haunting new single "I Am Not A God" in conjunction with the announcement that she has signed to indie tastemaker label Arts & Crafts. "'I Am Not A God' is centered around belonging and self worth, unpacking the effects of my religious upbringing and the resulting sexual trauma," vōx states. "I'm starting to embrace my humanity and imperfection in the hopes that I can create a safe space for others to do the same."

vōx's music is intoxicated by the power of vulnerability. Her breathy, delicate vibrato paired with icy synths and minimal downtempo electronic beats give her the perfect landscape to discuss anxiety, rebirth, and healing. She has a fascination with dichotomy and religion, making these elements the basis for her complex visual world. "I grew up deeply religious. This project has uncovered all the ways those ideas I was taught fucked with my self worth and thus my ability to stand up for myself and my body. I really want to create a safe space for anyone who feels shame in their humanity and imperfection to begin unpacking and start healing. That's what making this music has started for me."

Following the 2017 release of her debut EP I Was Born, vōx attended the Red Bull Music Academy Berlin in 2018 and immediately began work on a follow up. Following a steady flow of self-released singles, captivating visuals, and an impressive collection of tastemaker and fashion press, vōx is posed to take her singular artistry global. More new music on the way soon.
