Overcoats Talk To NPR All Things Considered About Debut Album 'Young' (Arts & Crafts)
Headlining Tour Underway With Sold Out Shows In NYC, DC And Boston
This past Friday, Overcoats released their debut album ‘YOUNG’ (Arts & Crafts). Co-produced by Nicolas Vernhes (The War On Drugs, Dirty Projectors) and Autre Ne Veut, ‘YOUNG’ is a story about growing up told through the lens of two women who are wise beyond their years. NPR’s Bob Boilen called 'YOUNG' "one of the best albums of 2017," saying the album is "driven by ambition and passion." The New York Times compared Overcoats to the Everly Brothers and dubbed their track “Kai’s Song” an “electronic hymn,” while Pigeons & Planes said the duo “shine with their vocal harmonies and timeless songwriting.” Read NPR First Listen's full review here: https://n.pr/2nBlxUq
Yesterday, the duo caught up with NPR’s All Things Considered to discuss the inspiration behind ‘YOUNG’ and to perform a few tracks from the album. Listen to the full segment here: https://n.pr/2q2RNwk
Overcoats recently spoke with NYLON about the inspiration behind each track on ‘YOUNG’. Read the full feature here: http://nylon.cm/2peh9dC
Overcoats kicked off a headlining tour last week with two sold-out, hometown shows in NYC. The band will continue their run across the country with sold-out shows in DC and Boston this week, plus shows in Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle. For full routing, visit www.overcoatsmusic.com/tour-2
Hana and JJ started Overcoats while they were college roommates and they co-wrote all twelve songs on ‘YOUNG.’ The two were drawn to each other when they first met as teenagers in 2011, finding connection in a love of diverse musical styles, and forging a closeness that verges on sisterhood. Both members of Overcoats describe the first time hearing each other sing as an epiphany: the harmony of their voices leading to personal, individual discovery.
