The Holydrug Couple's new LP Moonlust is due to be released next week on Sacred Bones Records. The Chilean psych band is coming over to the states this weekend to kick off their North American tour. Their first stop is Austin Psych Fest, a truly fitting place to start.
Recently the band have shared the singles for 'Dreamy' and 'Baby, I'm Going Away' and today are sharing the video for the former, which was directed by band member Manuel Parra as well as Alberto Herrera. Manuel had this to say about the video: 'This is my first attempt taking the visual imagery of The Holydrug Couple and transforming it into moving images. This video speaks about what I feel for the song; being asleep, staring at your dream, deciding if you want to awake or not.'Watch it here
The new album Moonlust sees the Chilean duo boldly treading territory in which their earlier psych-indebted recordings only hinted at. Influence from French movie soundtracks of the ’70s and ’80s and the discography of Serge Gainsbourg are no doubt present here. The new album's twelve songs are streamlined hook delivery machines, without any baroque arrangements or unnecessary flourishes to get in the way of their ultimate goal.
