‘Strange Pleasures’ out May 6th in UK & Europe
and May 7th in North America on Sub Pop

London-based duo Still Corners have just been added as direct support to Glaswegian band Chvrches’ North American headlining tour, which currently begins May 28th in Portland, OR at Wonder Ballroom and ends on June 23rd in  Philadelphia, PA at Union Transfer.  In lieu of this new tour,  Still Corners’ US and Canadian dates for May and June have been cancelled (refunds available at point of purchase). Meanwhile, the bands previously announced UK trek kicks-off on May 3rd in Liverpool at Sound City and ends May 11th in Bristol at Louisiana. Please find an updated tour schedule below.

Still Corners recently released a new video for “Berlin Lovers”, the lead single from their forthcoming album, Strange Pleasures.  The clip, directed Christian Sorensen Hansen, features band members Greg Hughes and Tessa Murray as employees of a roller skating rink, where a young couple meets and falls in love.  SPIN says of the clip, “Their 2011 Sub Pop debut Creatures of an Hour was a lovely excursion into cinematic soundcraft, but the forthcoming Strange Pleasures, feels both more intimate and more boldly constructed. First taste, "Berlin Lovers," is a fantastic example, combining progressive synth-work with crisp drums for a feeling not unlike a Kavinsky track, while placing Murray's high and breathy vocals in the forefront so that there's no question why we're here: to sit with her story of a memorable encounter between two young people, "almost a man, almost a woman...The accompanying video plays like a pleasant little dream as a teenage couple meets at a roller rink operated by Still Corners' main players. Cue the smoke machines” (see video premiere April 3).

Stereogum also had this to say, “Plenty of music videos shoot for sweetness; very few actually achieve it. But in this one, the teenage girl looks like a badass until the precise moment where she looks like a little lost kid. The teenage boy looks like a gawky awkward fuck until the precise moment where he looks like a viable love interest. The two grown-ups in Still Corners look like kind, approving elders both before and after their transformation into glamorous pop stars. The fog comes in at the exact right moment. It’s lovely, all of it” (see “5 Best Videos of the Week” April 5).

Still Corners’ Strange Pleasures, the follow up to Creatures Of An Hour, the band’s acclaimed 2011 debut,  will be available on May 6 in Europe and May 7 in North America via Sub Pop. The album will be available on CD, LP and digitally, and is led by the single “Berlin Lovers” as well as highlights “Beginning to Blue”, “Future Age,” “Beatcity,” and the previously released album teaser, “Fireflies”.  Strange Pleasures was produced by band leader Greg Hughes at his Greenwich studio in London. Please find a full tracklisting below.

More on Still Corners' Strange Pleasures:
Riding that insatiable kinesis over the last two years has resulted in Hughes, along with singing accomplice Tessa Murray, fashioning a devastating sophomore album, Strange Pleasures, which is surely destined to usher Still Corners to a deserved place at cerebral dream-pop’s high table. Where its predecessor soared on sugared layers of shoegazing-infused retro-futurism, Strange Pleasures proffers a leaner, more acute extrapolation of ’80s-suffused song and studio craft, navigating a sinuous trajectory between velveteen Angelo Badalamenti noir-pop torch song sophistication and ethereal Cocteau Twins beauty, with exquisite meanders through the glacial but mellifluous territory first mapped by Modern English, The Cure and The Passions, with nods along the way to cool, graceful detachment a la ’80s Euro avant-poppers such as Bernthøler and Virna Lindt (read more at Sub Pop).
