L.A. WITCH ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR w/ THE KILLS

NEW 7" SINGLE
DRIVE YOUR CAR OUT NOW

Tour Dates Here

LISTEN & SHARE: L.A. WITCH - "Drive Your Car"

"“Drive Your Car” squeals into chugging riffs from guitarist and vocalist Sade Sanchez and bassist Irita Pai, spurred into a higher, exit ramp-climbing gear from drummer Ellie English. Sanchez’s voice howls through the canyons of her own reverb like she’s yelling behind the wheel of a stolen Mustang in a Santa Ana tunnel, reveling in her cacophonous freedom Thelma & Louise-style."
- SPIN

"L.A. Witch has a fearless approach grounded in an uncompromising approach to creating their own sound and cult aesthetic." - Art Tavana, Tom Tom Magazine

"The music of L.A. Witch is experimental and raw ... Their heavy sound features Sanchez's ghostly lo-fi vocals on "Get Lost," where the brooding songstress begs for someone, anyone, to "save me from myself, save me from myself."" - LA Weekly

MOOGFEST 2016 UNVEILS AMBITIOUS DAYTIME PROGRAM - DURHAM, NC MAY 19-22

MOOGFEST 2016 UNVEILS AMBITIOUS DAYTIME PROGRAM
OF CONVERSATIONS, WORKSHOPS, MASTERCLASSES AND FILM SCREENINGS LED BY ARTISTS + TECHNOLOGISTS INCLUDING LAURIE ANDERSON, GZA, DANIEL LANOIS, THE ORB AND REGGIE WATTS

Four-day festival explores new technologies pushing the boundaries of creative expression to take place in Durham, North Carolina from May 19-22

Durham, North Carolina (March 23, 2016) – Moogfest 2016 today unveiled an ambitious daytime lineup of events that features many musical artists, including Laurie AndersonGZA, and Daniel Lanois, leading master classes, workshops, and conversations that explore the technologies, innovations, and ideas that make the festival’s cutting-edge evening performances possible.
To celebrate the legacy of Bob Moog, an engineer who worked in partnership with artists to invent new creative tools, Moogfest reimagines the tech conference and music festival by taking the best of both formats to create a completely new type of experience. Hailed as a sci-fi dance party with a Ph.D. in STEM” by The New York Times, Moogfest 2016 will gather more than 250 technologists, musicians, and artists -- from Grimes and Gary Numan to Jaron Lanier and Dr. Martine Rothblatt -- to explore new technologies that are pushing the boundaries of creative expression. For the first time, Moogfest will take place in Durham, North Carolina, named one the hottest cities for tech in 2016 by Business Insider, and just a few hours from the employee-owned Moog Music factory in Asheville.

Reflecting its role as an incubator for experimentation across technology, art, and music, Moogfest enlisted The Haxan Cloak and Smashing Boxesa Durham-based digital design firm, to collaborate on turning the Moogfest website into instrument. Dubbed “_substrate”, it allows fans to manipulate individual audio tracks by swiping, tapping, and clicking the screen, resulting in a totally unique audio and 3D visual experience for each user. The experience launches with a remix by The Haxan Cloak (Moses Sumney’s cover of Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman”), and will expand in the coming months to feature other Moogfest artists.

Night Flight and MVD partner to offer massive stream of unique entertainment

Night Flight and MVD Entertainment Group
partner to offer massive stream of unique entertainment
Night Flight PLUS subscription service gives users
access to unlimited stream of unique content

Night Flight is announcing today the addition of its premium subscription channel, Night Flight Plus, offering up original uncut air masters of Night Flight programming from the video vaults of the 1980s TV show, as well as an extensive library of entertainment from their partner, MVD Entertainment Group.

Night Flight Plus features a library of original content that has not been broadcast for over 30 years. Subscribers can revisit episodes of Night Flight transferred from the original USA Network air masters with exclusive interviews and specials, including features like the four hour 1983 New Year's Special and Best of New Wave Theatre

Night Flight Plus will be offering up new releases every weekend of original uncut episodes from theNight Flight vault. In addition to the original material, Night Flight is developing unique artist channels, the first of which being the short film collection from Seinfeld actor, comedian, and filmmaker Larry Hankin. These exclusives will be paired with hundreds of titles from MVD's extensive library of music, horror, cult, comedy, and concert documentary films.

Night Flight subscription is available in two options: $2.99/month or $29.99/year and compatible with Chromecast, and Roku. Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV are right around the corner.

Founder Stuart S. Shapiro stresses this isn't strictly a subscription, saying: "We're treating it like a membership to an exclusive club - A Rite of Passage - A trigger of never ending emotional nostalgia."

MVD's CEO, Ed Seaman added, "Many of us at MVD grew up with Night Flight.  Some of us even remember those days... Night Flight Plus provides vast programming targeted to the counterculture.  The SVOD leaders have largely abandoned the kind of selection that appeals to this market.  Night Flight Plus fills that void, and then some.  We are so proud to be working closely with Stuart Shapiro and his team, and especially proud to be affiliated with such a strong brand as Night Flight."

The original Night Flight TV series aired all night long on the USA Cable Network on Friday and Saturday nights. The show was the creative brainchild of Stuart S. Shapiro, who created the show - premiering on June 5, 1981 - with the idea that it would be, in his words, a "beacon of fresh cutting edge entertainment that was just not available anywhere on TV. It was the true essence of the birth of Cable Television." Night Flight featured classic interviews with all the major music and cult stars of the 1980's from Ozzy Osborne, Lou Reed, BB King, Frank Zappa to Divine, The Residents and Mark Hamill. VH1 recently called Night Flight: "The single greatest rock omnibus program ever aired."

Night Flight launched their retro video blog, Nightflight.com, on May 1st, 2015, and have been offering daily content, including in-depth blog posts which run the gamut from the nostalgic trips back to theNight Flight tape vaults to unearth classic 80s clips, to searching for the under-the-radar brand new things they think you should know about, offering up exclusive interviews and features you won't find on other video blogs.

Of this next step, Shapiro writes "Our goal with Night Flight Plus is to resurrect the editorial spirit of Night Flight with the same original curatorial edge we had in the 80s for a new digital generation. This time around Night Flight's special brew will be available anytime - anywhere."

Night Flight Plus membership is a unique opportunity to become an active participant in the comeback story of one of the most memorable and important counter culture brands of the 80s.

Night Flight Plus is available at nightflightplus.com and the Roku store.

The Mynabirds Release Bloody New Video + West Coast Tour

The Mynabirds Release New Video

For “Velveteen

Kick Off West Coast Tour This Week

“The Mynabirds’ video for “Velveteen” is a beautiful blood bath” Noisey

"Lovers Know sounds like a collection of jewels, bright and eclectic... [and] writ larger than anything else Burhenn has done with The Mynabirds." - NPR

Don’t be surprised to find yourself falling in regretless love as you watch her…” - KEXP

The Mynabirds (moniker of singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn) have just released a beautifully bloody, vampire themed video to accompany track “Velveteen”, which comes off album Lovers Know released last August via Saddle Creek. Premiered on Noisey, the video was directed by director-duo LEAN (Luke Hanlein & Ian Roche) and produced by Matthew Berkowitz & Jeff Katz through Nero-Films. Burhenn says of the visual, “I’m really proud of this video. It’s the darkest (and bloodiest) thing I’ve ever made, and the vampire narrative the directors (Luke Hanlein and Ian Roche) put into it adds a dimension to the song that makes it feel like something fresh, even to me. I love it.”

Following the release of the video, The Mynabirds will kick off on a west coast tour later this week with a new, intimate and orchestral arrangement of Burhenn’s songs. In the way of spring cleaning, Laura is stripping her songs back to bare bones, and fleshing them out with strings and other organic instrumentation. She’ll present songs she’s toured from all her albums, as well as some new and un-released material, in a whole new way.

Lovers Know, The Mynabirds’ third album (released August 4, 2015 on Saddle Creek), was recorded over a yearlong period in Los Angeles, Joshua Tree, Nashville, and Auckland, New Zealand. It’s definitely new territory for Burhenn, forging into 80s, 90s and futuristic soundscapes, recalling Kate Bush, Sinead O’Connor, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and even 90s hip hop and R&B. The album may be loaded with a fresh palette of new sounds (swarms of synths, gauzy electric guitars, and electronic drums), but her brooding, unmistakable voice leads the way.

Burhenn has released two previous albums as The Mynabirds on Saddle Creek, What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood (2010) and GENERALS (2012), both of which were produced by Richard Swift and met by critical acclaim.

3/25 – Seattle, WA at Sunset Tavern
3/27 – Portland, OR at Holocene
3/29 – San Francisco, CA at Swedish American
