Global pop sensation Chappell Roan has released one of the most anticipated songs in her growing discography—the official studio recording of her new single “The Subway”, out now on Amusement / Island Records. A gut-wrenching ballad that fans have been clamoring for since she began performing it live last summer, “The Subway”, produced by and co-written with Daniel Nigro, is another immaculately crafted home run that puts Roan’s once-in-a-generation talent at the forefront. The song tells the story of the quiet heartbreak of literal and metaphorical missed romantic connections and the pain that endures through the small daily reminders everywhere. Lyrically at her utmost vulnerable, Roan cleverly captures the disorienting grief of moving on with some of her most heart-felt songwriting yet and a vocal performance that defies any expectations. Her flair for the dramatic reverberates as her gentle soprano musings turn into full volume iconic catchphrases, “I made a promise, if in four months this feeling ain’t gone, well f*ck this city, I’m moving to Saskatchewan!”. Fans started to catch on that the long awaited single would soon be released as posters, murals and red tresses were spotted around New York last week and a video of a moving truck in Saskatchewan went viral. Yesterday, Roan launched a limited edition copper metallic 7” that quickly sold out, featuring “The Subway” (Side A) and previously unreleased “I Hate It Here”(demo) (Side B).

Alongside, the song comes Roan’s most ambitious official video yet, shot on location in Manhattan, New York. Directed by Amber Grace Johnson (Jorja Smith, FKA Twigs, Lolo Zouaï), “The Subway” video is a high-camp love letter to New York and the one that got away, all shot on 35mm film. Throughout the video, Roan’s infamous red locks are shed, exposing the lovelorn singer in iconic New York moments, doing anything but blending in and literally getting dragged. On the subway she sees ghosts of her past and visions of her future self; in the outside world, she is plagued with garbage and rats but still remains in pursuit of that once special feeling.

Roan shares, “The cliche of 'the girl that got away' barely scratches the surface for me with this song. I wrote it as I was stumbling around New York with a broken heart and I kept envisioning us on every street, fire escape, coffee shop, park and yes… the subway.“

Last week, Roan announced a string of U.S. live dates this fall with multiple all ages shows in New York, Los Angeles and Kansas City, Missouri. The newly announced pop-up shows include a four-night takeover at Forest Hills Stadium in Forest Hills, NY on September 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 24th, crossing the midwest with a two-night stay in Kansas City at the Museum and Memorial Park on October 3rd and 4th; and wrapping with two nights at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on October 10th and 11thAs with previous Chappell Roan headline shows, $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to organizations that provide support and resources for trans youth.

Tickets are on sale for previously registered Fair AXS users from August 5 through August 7. Learn more at axs.com/chappellroan2025Roan has also teamed up with Cash App and Visa to offer Cash App Visa Cardholders an exclusive discount. Fans can use their Cash App Card at checkout to automatically get 15% off, which will be credited back to their Cash App balance. For more information on the Cash App Card discount, please visit cash.app/exclusives/chappellroan

Roan shares, “I am sooo excited to bring Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things to New York, Kansas City, and Los Angeles!!! I love these three cities so much and wanted the chance to do something special for them this year.

Since I started performing, I have always wanted my shows to be a party that everyone is invited to, and the only way to do that is to keep ticket prices affordable and away from scalpers. The Fair AXS ticketing process for these shows is one measure we are taking to ensure tickets end up in the hands of fans who actually want to be there.

With these shows we’re also giving $1 per ticket to organizations that provide resources and support for trans youth <3 It is so important that I give back to the Trans community as they have given me so much throughout my entire career. “

This new run of shows marks Roan’s first headline dates since her record-breaking 2024 festival season, where she drew some of the largest crowds at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Gov Ball and more. She recently headlined Primavera in Barcelona and is set to headline Reading & Leeds Festivals and Edinburgh Summer Sessions, along with appearances at Øya Festival, Way Out West, Pukkelpop and more. Her Midwest Princess Tour, which spanned North America and Europe from September 2023 to October 2024, earned widespread critical acclaim for its theatrical visuals, queer celebration, and sold-out venues. A full list of previously announced international tour dates is available at www.iamchappellroan.com.

“The Subway” follows Roan’s hotly anticipated 2025 single “The Giver”, a queer country anthem that debuted earlier this year at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. First performed at her Saturday Night Live debut performance, the track arrived with a hotline teaser, national billboard campaign, and limited-edition vinyl series showcasing Roan in various over-the-top service roles – from plumber to private investigator - and landed NPR’s #1 spot ranking the best performances from the 50th anniversary season.

The character of Chappell Roan, in all her fabulous glory, truly began to take shape with 2020’s “Pink Pony Club,” a song about a small town girl who finds belonging at a West Hollywood go-go bar that was inspired by Chappell’s real-life experiences in LA. Roan’s ascent to the top felt quick to some, but “Pink Pony Club” finally reached #1 at Pop Radio on its five-year anniversary of release and has become a defining part of her story. A critical smash, Roan’s debut album The Rise And Fall of a Midwest Princess (Amusement / Island Records) established Roan as a breakthrough singer, songwriter and performer who could combine fantasy with self-reflection, with songs like “Casual”, “Red Wine Supernova”, “HOT TO GO”, “My Kink Is Karma”, “Naked In Manhattan” and “Kaleidoscope” earning her 2024’s Best New Artist Grammy. Her highly conceptual theatrics and costumes for both live shows and performances on SNL, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and the 2024 MTV VMAs set the internet alight. A larger-than-life performer inspired by drag and burlesque, Chappell Roan has a reputation for making every show into a dance party that everyone wants to join.

August 1, 2025—The Dare’s new dance EP, Freakquencies: Vol. 1, is set for release August 22; pre-order vinyl here and pre-save on streaming here. The first song, “Tambourine,” debuts today; listen/share it here

Freakquencies: Vol. 1 is the first installment in a series of EPs aimed directly at the dancefloor,” The Dare says. “These four tracks were made for and spun at various Freakquencies parties around the globe. They marry some of my latest and greatest loves: French touch, big beat, electro and acid. Whatever gets you there.”

The sonic extension of his now-legendary New York party Freakquencies, the EP is The Dare’s first ever project-length dance release. The EP features four tracks—including today’s “Tambourine,” the forthcoming MC5-sampling “Kick” and more—that emulate the buzzy club nights, which have become a pillar of New York night life since their inception at the Manhattan basement bar Home Sweet Home. The party has seen sold-out editions in Mexico City, London, Paris, Barcelona and Los Angeles, most recently blowing out a run of iconic Brooklyn venues—Public Records, Elsewhere, Knockdown Center and 3 Dollar Bill. Recent nights have seen The Dare team up with guest DJs Doss, Danny L Harle, Dylan Brady, Kelly Lee Owens and Fcukers, among many others.

Freakquencies: Vol 1 comes on the heels of
What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, the deluxe version of The Dare’s critically acclaimed debut album, which arrived last year to extensive praise from the likes of NPRThe New York Times,PAPER and more. The Dare’s long-awaited and highly anticipated debut took the world by storm, featuring the ubiquitous first single “Girls—now a bona fide hit with 62 million streams on Spotify alone—alongside fan favorites Perfume and Good Time.”

The Dare has toured the record around the world, with explosive festival sets at Coachella and Primavera Sound as well as a completely sold out seven-night residency at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right and a run of dates with Justice in California. The rest of the summer will see The Dare take his live show to additional festival stages around the globe, with dates at ReadingLeeds and more, plus an appearance at Austin City Limits in the fall.

The Dare is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Harrison Patrick Smith. Bursting onto the scene with his global hit
Girls,” his much lauded The Sex EP drew widespread praise from critics and fellow artists alike. He has shared stages and collaborated with Charli xcx, Yves Tumor, Brutalismus 3000 and a host of others, and his legendary DJ sets have soundtracked parties for Gucci, Celine, Yves Saint Laurent and many more. The past year has seen him joining Charli xcx at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, sitting front row for a number of shows at Paris Fashion Week and, most recently, producing PinkPantheress’ album standout “Stateside” from her mixtape Fancy That and remixing Justice’ “Mannequin Love” from the electronic duo’s 2024 LP.

More from The Dare is imminent.

Known for his huge house anthems as Paul Woolford, and heavier dancefloor fillers as Special Request, this remix tastefully layers sections of CAS’s bars with rolling breaks and a heavyweight bassline.

The original version of “Still The Same” features on the recently-released, acclaimed album Alpha Omega by Rufige Kru. Consisting of twelve groundbreaking new tracks which bring together Goldie’s unerring dancefloor suss and the impeccable technical prowess of Submotive (real name James Davidson), Alpha Omega is Rufige Kru’s deepest outing so far – a reminder of exactly why drum and bass remains the most exhilarating, groundbreaking and electrifying music on the planet.

Upon its release, new album Alpha Omega was praised by the likes of DJ Mag, who hailed it “an impressive record from an artist still innovating over three decades into his career” in their review of the album, and Music OMH noted: “capturing urban claustrophobia as well as wide open, dystopian soundscapes with unerring accuracy, the invention is flowing as freely as it ever has.”

Goldie is currently touring across the UK and Europe this summer, performing both live and DJ sets. He’ll return to the U.S. this fall with scheduled appearances at III Points Festival in Miami, FL on October 17 and at DUCTWORK at SILO in Dallas, TX on October 19. About Rufige Kru:
One of the most revered names in breakbeat science, Rufige Kru rewired the dancefloor for the first time back in 1992 with the hardcore classic ‘Darkrider’. Back then, Goldie’s musical partner was hip hop fanatic Linford Jones. “He had a fantastic record collection,” remembers Goldie. “I had a field day going through his records and pulling out breaks.” Engineer Mark Rutherford – who also worked with Peter Gabriel and Mark McLaren – was another early collaborator. The partnership yielded pivotal hardcore moments like ‘Ghosts Of My Life’ and ‘Terminator’ (still considered one of the key moments in the evolution of drum’n’bass). It’s a testament to the alchemy itself, that no matter who Goldie has worked with – or taken under his wing – the Rufige sound remains consistently forward-thinking and innovative. Though Goldie’s groundbreaking debut album ‘Timeless’ and its 1998 follow-up ‘Saturnz Return’ broke through into mainstream success, he continued the sonic explorations of Rufige Kru with two had found a new musical partner, Heist/Strider mainman Jim Muir. And then, of course, there was the first all-time drum’n’bass classic of the new millennium: Rufige Kru’s 2001 masterpiece ‘Beachdrifta’. Recorded with Danny Goldstein, it was a record that – like ‘Ghosts’ or ‘Terminator’ before it – just turned everything upside down. So much so that, in 2017, when Goldie played two memorable nights at Ronnie Scott’s, the live rendition transformed the venerable jazz club into a 4am rave. “Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle,” recalls Goldie. “That was one of those times.” Now he’s done it again with the new record. Turning drum’n’bass inside out, reframing the breakbeat, setting the agenda all over again. “I’ve travelled with James (Submotive) through every angle of this game and now he’s a formidable partner in the Rufige Kru echelon….boss levelz.” “I’ve gone back to my roots,” concludes Goldie. “That’s a beautiful thing for me. I’ve spent a lot of time honing my craft, developing these concepts, assembling all these moments. But that sense of possibility – what kept me going in the early days – is still there. I’m still as excited by this music and where it can go as I was all those years ago. The only limit is my imagination.”

Emerging artist Chloe Stroll confirms debut album 'Bloom in the Break' out 9/12 + shares "I Stood My Ground"

EMERGING SINGER-SONGWRITER
CHLOE STROLL CONFIRMS DEBUT ALBUM BLOOM IN THE BREAK DUE SEPTEMBER 12

“A sensational entry into the industry, Chloe's melodic tone
and crushing lyrics will have you begging for more.”

[of “Pedestal”] “It takes the feelings commonly associated with broken bonds
and is described through expressive lyrics combined with a variety of soft tones
and melodies. This song incorporates a range of raw emotions that many listeners
can relate to due to past or current experiences.”
August 1, 2025—Chloe Stroll, rising Canadian singer-songwriter, confirms her debut album Bloom in the Break will be released September 12. She shares a further taste of the new music with “I Stood My Ground,” alongside an official music video—listen/share HERE and watch/share HERE. Pre-order/pre-save the album HERE.
Written alongside Grammy-winning ballad master Walter Afanasieff, Stroll details, “Walter and I were talking about moments when I’ve felt unheard or when my values felt compromised. We explored the idea of what it’s like to stand your ground while everything around you feels like it’s unraveling.”
“I Stood My Ground” follows previously released track, “You’re OK,” of which Building Your Own Nashville describes, “an acoustic gem that excels in its simplicity… this song’s gentle melody offers comfort in the same way the lyrics do.” Watch official video HERE.
Stroll wrote over seventy songs, paring them down to a dozen which would become Bloom in the Break. She recorded in studios around the world with collaborators including Swagg R’Celious (Babyface, H.E.R.), Kevin Bard (Andy Grammer, Dan + Shay), and Afanasieff.
The album reflects a full spectrum portrait of Stroll’s past experiences and how it helped her to get where she is now. Stroll hopes listeners will find the same comfort and healing in the album as she did while creating it. “I wanted people to be able to relate to it in their own ways, and in their own struggles,” she details. “Your problem is your problem, but when you’re standing up against a wall, we’re all facing that same wall. That was my North Star.”
Of the album’s title, she describes, “I pictured something beautiful—literally the most beautiful flower blooming through breaking glass. Because life’s obstacles create who we are, which is where beauty lies—in all our imperfections. It’s how we grow to become the people we are.”
Born and raised in Montreal, Stroll wrote her first song at seven years old. She released her debut single “Run” in 2023, and 2024 found Stroll releasing several singles, including “Thin Air,” “Water Over Sand” and more. Artists that inspire Stroll include Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, and Adele, also drawing inspiration and meaning behind many of her songs from a deep love of her family and husband, Olympic medalist Scotty James.

Bec Lauder and The Noise today have shared the video for their single "Nobody Cares," which was released last month. The video premiered via Atwood Magazine and the track is from their debut LP The Vessel, out August 22nd via Killphonic. "Nobody Cares" release follows previous single "Give It," which earned support from Chorus.fm, V13, and more. "'Nobody Cares' perfectly captures the chaos of indifference with a smirk on its face," Lauder explains. "It’s a chocolate covered middle finger, attention stealing, blast at full volume summer banger. It’s the definition of glam punk with a touch of dream pop textures, lo-fi grit and honesty. Cry later, strut now."  Lauder has been covered in publications such as SPINWomen Wears DailyAlt Citizen, and more.

The Vessel was born in the East Village in New York City between a bunch of friends, bonding and surviving the city through music. Comprised of Maggie Bishop (drums/vocals), Soph Shreds (guitar/bass) and Lauder (vocals/guitar/bass), the band found their sound by playing over 75 shows in New York over the past year and through their recording process. This album is a love letter to the youth in this world, meant to provide a beautiful and fantastical escape from everyday chaos.  It is a reaction to all of the human feelings that we have, the memories that replay in our heads and all of the artists that prove that music is freedom.

The Vessel is out August 22nd via Killphonic.
