August 1, 2025—The Dare’s new dance EP, Freakquencies: Vol. 1, is set for release August 22; pre-order vinyl here and pre-save on streaming here. The first song, “Tambourine,” debuts today; listen/share it here

Freakquencies: Vol. 1 is the first installment in a series of EPs aimed directly at the dancefloor,” The Dare says. “These four tracks were made for and spun at various Freakquencies parties around the globe. They marry some of my latest and greatest loves: French touch, big beat, electro and acid. Whatever gets you there.”

The sonic extension of his now-legendary New York party Freakquencies, the EP is The Dare’s first ever project-length dance release. The EP features four tracks—including today’s “Tambourine,” the forthcoming MC5-sampling “Kick” and more—that emulate the buzzy club nights, which have become a pillar of New York night life since their inception at the Manhattan basement bar Home Sweet Home. The party has seen sold-out editions in Mexico City, London, Paris, Barcelona and Los Angeles, most recently blowing out a run of iconic Brooklyn venues—Public Records, Elsewhere, Knockdown Center and 3 Dollar Bill. Recent nights have seen The Dare team up with guest DJs Doss, Danny L Harle, Dylan Brady, Kelly Lee Owens and Fcukers, among many others.

Freakquencies: Vol 1 comes on the heels of
What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, the deluxe version of The Dare’s critically acclaimed debut album, which arrived last year to extensive praise from the likes of NPRThe New York Times,PAPER and more. The Dare’s long-awaited and highly anticipated debut took the world by storm, featuring the ubiquitous first single “Girls—now a bona fide hit with 62 million streams on Spotify alone—alongside fan favorites Perfume and Good Time.”

The Dare has toured the record around the world, with explosive festival sets at Coachella and Primavera Sound as well as a completely sold out seven-night residency at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right and a run of dates with Justice in California. The rest of the summer will see The Dare take his live show to additional festival stages around the globe, with dates at ReadingLeeds and more, plus an appearance at Austin City Limits in the fall.

The Dare is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Harrison Patrick Smith. Bursting onto the scene with his global hit
Girls,” his much lauded The Sex EP drew widespread praise from critics and fellow artists alike. He has shared stages and collaborated with Charli xcx, Yves Tumor, Brutalismus 3000 and a host of others, and his legendary DJ sets have soundtracked parties for Gucci, Celine, Yves Saint Laurent and many more. The past year has seen him joining Charli xcx at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, sitting front row for a number of shows at Paris Fashion Week and, most recently, producing PinkPantheress’ album standout “Stateside” from her mixtape Fancy That and remixing Justice’ “Mannequin Love” from the electronic duo’s 2024 LP.

More from The Dare is imminent.
