“A group that stands above the rest… carving out their very own space in the often-saturated music industry.” -- Wonderland
“Zippy pop bang with a gently psychedelic side” -- The Guardian
“Bad Sounds are one of the most exciting new groups in the country;a band whose myriad fresh sounds are matched by a stunning, creative, highly imaginative live show.’  CLASH
“Blending the bombastic nature of A Tribe Called Quest’s early material and the wicked storytelling of Jamie T” NME

One of the UK’s hottest new acts Bad Sounds are excited to announce they will be making their first trip to North America as they have confirmed SXSW and a tour as direct support for Broods. The shows kick off March 26 in Santa AnaCA and conclude in WashingtonDC on April 20. Along the way they stop in Los Angeles on March 27 for a show at The Fonda and hit NYC’s Irving Plaza on April 18. Further, Bad Sounds will be making a stop at this year’s SXSW Festival. All dates are listed below.

Bad Sounds’ highly anticipated debut album Get Better was released in the Fall of 2018 on Sony imprint, Insanity Records. Around it’s release the Bristol UK-based band unleashed a string of singles, 5 of which BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac picked as her "Hottest Record in the World" and 3 on daytime rotation at the station. Among them and channeling the psychedelic hip-hop vibes of De la Soul and Beastie Boys the band revealed “Wages,” a track first made popular when it appeared on the Fifa 18 soundtrack. Clash noted its “deft, tongue-in-cheek portrayal of life on the breadline” and Billboard, premiering the video said Bad Sounds, “draws influences from the likes of Beck, The Flaming Lips, Michael Jackson and Curtis Mayfield, resulting in an eclectic mix of sounds particularly evident (here).” Watch the video for "Wages" here:
Bad Sounds - Wages
Bad Sounds have developed a reputation for their energetic and creative live shows, putting on a show that turns the room into a massive party. The band recently completed their biggest SOLD OUT headline tour to-date in support of the album release, including London’s 1200 capacity Heaven nightclub and 1100 capacity SWX in hometown Bristol.

Bad Sounds was formed by brothers Callum and Ewan Merrett. The two started on different musical paths before the band was born -- Ewan was keen on making hip-hop beats and playing with samples, Callum was more engrossed in the soul, pop and R’n’B of Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Curtis mayfield. Combining Ewan and Callum’s differing styles, they come together create the colorful and unique world that is Bad Sounds, alongside Charlie Pitt (guitar), Sam Hunt (bass), and Olivia Dimery (drums) who form the rest of the band.

CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG ANNOUNCES U.S. TOUR DATES

CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG ANNOUNCES U.S. TOUR DATES

Charlotte Gainsbourg has announced U.S. tour dates that will take her through several cities in April 2019, including Boston, Washington, D.C., New York, and San Francisco. The tour will also include her previously announced performances at Coachella, and comes in support of her most recent releases, the Take 2 EP and her last studio album, Rest. Presale will begin on January 31, and the general sale on February 1.

Produced by SebastiAn (Frank Ocean, Kavinsky) and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Lorde, David Bowie), Gainsbourg’s last studio album Rest was released in late 2017 and was her first in seven years. The album featured named Best New Music by Pitchfork and was described as “gorgeous and assured" by NPR, while the New York Times observed “Rest is an album that comes directly from her heart.” The eleven songs on Restare nothing if not sure-footed, proffering a compelling fusion of gleaming, string-emblazoned modern electro-pop and cinematically textured avant-chanson—their magical music box melodies kissed by bruised, introspective, occasionally disquieting lyrics.

Take 2, which was released in December 2018, features three new songs and two live tracks, including a version of Kanye West's “Runaway,” and features the same musicians as her touring band.

The Specials Release New Album 'Encore;' Announce Tour

The Specials Release New Album Encore;
Announce North American Tour

The Specials, one of the most electrifying, influential and important bands of all time, have just released their new album Encore, their first new music in 37 years via Island Records. The album's arrival has been welcomed with widespread critical acclaim and an acknowledgement that The Specials' music is every bit as vital and relevant today as it was 40 years ago. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the formation of The Specials and the legendary Two-Tone label in Coventry in 1979, and also marks 10 years since the band reformed to play some of the most vital and joyous live shows in recent memory.

The 10-song Encore was produced by Specials founding members Terry HallLynval Golding and Horace Panter alongside Danish musician/producer Torp Larsen and indeed is the first time Hall, Golding & Panter have recorded new material together since the band's 1981 No.1 single Ghost Town.

The Specials will be taking to the road in North America and abroad throughout 2019 in support of the new album. See full list of dates below.
Spearheading the British ska revival in the late 70s, The Specials embraced a multi-racial melting-pot that embodied more than just their black-and-white-checked 2-Tone label logos.

Hailing from the grim industrial midlands of England, and dressed in pork-pie hats, mohair suits, Ben Sherman shirts and Doc Martens, they hit the UK music scene hard. In the UK their debut single "Gangsters" went to #6 and every subsequent single was a Top 10, including two further #1s. In April 1980 they played an electrifying version of "Gangsters" on Saturday Night Live - a performance that's frequently name checked as one of the show's most memorable music bookings.

In the current turbulent climate, Encore picks up almost exactly, in style and in substance, where "Ghost Town" left off, addressing serious issues head on. The album includes a version of "The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum" - originally a hit for Terry and Lynval's post-Specials band Fun Boy Three in 1982 -  as well as a powerful spoken word track "The Ten Commandments" featuring British anti-racism activist Saffiyah Khan.

Wallows offer a first glimpse into Nothing Happens with lead single and video “Are You Bored Yet? (feat. Clairo).”The trippy video, directed by Drew Kirsch (Louis The Child, John Legend, Quinn XCII), features Wallows in a retro karaoke bar surrounded by friends and familiar faces including special appearances by Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Sierra Burgess Is A Loser), Brian Jones (Vampire Weekend, Human Natural), and Nina Ljeti(1980s Horror Film II music video director), among others. "This could simply be the perfect song for our times, but what Mould does in "Lost Faith" (and elsewhere on his forthcoming album Sunshine Rock) is take the negativity and fear and locate the positive."
- Bob Boilen, NPR All Songs Considered

February 1, 2019 - In only one week, Bob Mould returns with an entirely new catalogue of music on his full-length album Sunshine Rock, available February 8 via Merge Records. The record features the recently released tracks "What Do You Want Me To Do" and title-track "Sunshine Rock". Today, Mould shares his latest single "Lost Faith"; a socially conscious song that sheds light on the mental friction caused from a mixture of facts, fiction, and biased opinions dispersed in the media. "Lost Faith" premiered yesterday on NPRThe visual for the new music plots a tale of such confusion with Mould as the centerpiece in a high-end music video for what ends up as an ultimately catchy, uplifting pop song.

Mould explains of the "Lost Faith" concept:
"The video follows the protagonist who is trying to find solace and anonymity in an increasingly corrupt world filled with paranoia and misinformation. We see him being questioned about his real intent, apprehended by a fictitious yet familiar looking border security, then interrogated about the life he left behind.

Shot in Berlin, the video switches into dream sequences filled with chases, captures, and escapes. There's a mosh pit of half-naked dancers, an accordionist in a church square, and the climax being a wild pursuit through the surrealistic ruins of a decommissioned CIA listening station."

While the Sunshine Rock album has been hailed thus far as Mould's most radiant and optimistic to date, "Lost Faith" adds a dose of commentary on a worldwide crisis. However, with a bit of Euro-inspired flavor, viewers will find a comedic twist in the video's series of events. In fact, many European pop music videos of the same style use authoritarian figures, chase scenes, and dancing during the chorus of the song as storytelling devices. Audiences are likely to notice a correlation in "Lost Faith" between the use of ice cream in the video and the fact that "EIS" is German for "ice."

Mould adds with a touch of wit, "It's just an average day in a European pop music video. Grab a scoop of ice cream and enjoy the show!"

The treatment for the video was created by Mould himself, with cinematography and editing by Mario Bergmann. Direction and cinematography by Philipp Virus of Virus Films GbR, who has worked with such bands as Atari Teenage Riot, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth and Iggy Pop, and whose work has been showcased at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Both parties also worked on the recent docu-video Berlin that Mould shared to give fans a peek at his life in Berlin, where he has spent the last three years of his life and where he found much inspiration for this new record.

In addition to "Lost Faith", Mould is announcing a special collaboration with the handcrafted clothing company JCRT. Known as the "master of the plaidverse," their selection meshes the subcultural and sartorial. Co-founded by visionary creatives and award winning designers Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, the brand is an intersection of cutting-edge digital technology and the rich legacy of analog craftsmanship. JCRT are longtime Mould fans and for his limited edition shirt, they've created a plaid flannel inspired by the bold graphic color and layout of Sunshine Rock that also emulates the power and energy of his live shows.
