The newly established Gee Vaucher Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign, with a collection of T-shirts, cards and posters helping to raise £100,000 needed to preserve and protect the extraordinary artistic legacy of one of Britain's most influential and uncompromising artists.

Over more than five decades, Gee Vaucher has created an extraordinary body of work spanning painting, collage, photomontage, sculpture and film. From her iconic artwork for Crass to her wider artistic practice, Vaucher has consistently challenged power, questioned social conventions and confronted subjects including war, inequality, gender, consumerism and environmental destruction. Her work remains as provocative, powerful and relevant today as when it was first created.

Now in her eighties, Vaucher has retained much of her original work, reflecting a lifelong resistance to the commercialisation of art and a belief that it should not simply disappear into private collections, but remain available to be seen, questioned and experienced by everyone.

The Gee Vaucher Foundation has been established to ensure that this extraordinary body of work is preserved in its entirety and made accessible to future generations. Its immediate priority is the monumental task of archiving more than 2,000 original works, including the celebrated Crass artwork. This will involve professional conservation, museum-grade storage, cataloguing and digitisation, with the ultimate aim of making the collection accessible online to audiences around the world.

To begin this process, the Foundation is seeking to raise £100,000, with the launch of fundraising T-shirts, cards and posters providing an opportunity for supporters to make a direct contribution. Every purchase will help fund the essential first stage of securing the collection and ensuring that these irreplaceable works are properly protected.

But the Foundation's ambitions reach much further. Once the archive is secured, the next objective is to establish a permanent home in London, bringing together Vaucher's work under one roof in a space that will serve not only as an archive and public gallery, but also as a centre for research, education, experimentation and independent creativity.

Central to this vision is the spirit of Dial House, the Essex home and creative community established by Vaucher and Penny Rimbaud in 1967. For nearly sixty years, Dial House has represented a living experiment in artistic freedom, collective endeavour and radical thinking, welcoming generations of artists, musicians, activists and independent minds. Gee and Penny will continue to run Dial House as they always have, but when the time comes, the house will pass into the care and stewardship of the Foundation, ensuring that it remains a living centre for creativity, collaboration and social change. In this way, the Foundation will not only preserve Vaucher's artistic legacy but also safeguard the unique spirit and ethos of Dial House for future generations.
