(Sept 9th, 2026) – LA-raised, NYC-based Darla Dean Lewis is back to share a new single “Man Enough.” The new song is off her forthcoming debut EP We’re Gonna Fly due Sept 25th via Cascine, which also includes the previously released “1979”.
Lewis locates an innate girlhood-ness in her songs as she notes, “They’re made up of everything you find at the bottom of your purse: loose change, lip gloss, gum wrappers, empty vapes…” On the anthemic disco-coded “Man Enough”, Lewis sings in half-twang at the crossroads of youthful independence and the increasingly dull finality of adulthood. The beat cuts at the bridge, and she accepts her reality: “I’m your woman in my pearly whites / But am I man enough, baby.” The song also comes alongside a music video featuring Darla as she changes a flat tire on the side of the road.
We’re Gonna Fly is a five-track project fusing dynamic, diaristic lyricism with dancefloor sensibilities alongside a maximalist pop vision. Across the EP Lewis locates a sense of childlike wonder while pairing some of her best phrases with clever tonal shifts. We’re Gonna Fly is irresistibly playful, nostalgic, and sparkling, navigating between the absurd and the sentimental. While Lewis writes from an earnest, carefree mindset, repeated listens reveal a tinge of longing. In Darla Dean Lewis’s world, everything is given a taste of make-believe.
Listen to “Man Enough” above and stay tuned for much more from Lewis coming soon.
