The beat cuts at the bridge, and she accepts her reality: “I’m your woman in my pearly whites / But am I man enough, baby.” The song also comes alongside a music video featuring Darla as she changes a flat tire on the side of the road.   We’re Gonna Fly is a five-track project fusing dynamic, diaristic lyricism with dancefloor sensibilities alongside a maximalist pop vision. Across the EP Lewis locates a sense of childlike wonder while pairing some of her best phrases with clever tonal shifts. We’re Gonna Fly is irresistibly playful, nostalgic, and sparkling, navigating between the absurd and the sentimental. While Lewis writes from an earnest, carefree mindset, repeated listens reveal a tinge of longing.
