The album is available on vinyl LP, CD and download and can be purchased at Bandcamp, Amazon, and other music retailers.    Following the band’s sold-out East Coast debut at Boston’s the Square Root last month, the Hollywood Stars will next perform a headlining show on August 28 at the Maui Sugar Mill in Tarzana, California.    The song “Hey! LA!” was written by the band’s lead singer, Scott Phares, in the aftermath of losing his house during the Los Angeles wildfires. The album cover is an actual photo of the remnants of the house’s staircase, later digitally altered to include flames.   YOUTUBE SHARE: "Hey! LA!" (created with A.I.) “My Malibu house burned down on January 7, 2025,” said Phares. “I was in Connecticut at the time and got a call from ADT that the smoke detectors were going off. I told them to send the fire department, but immediately realized that was a dumb thing to say. Because I could still see the status of the alarms in the house, I thought it hadn’t burned down. I was in denial.   I watched the FireAid Benefit Concert with Billy Crystal and Lady Gaga, and it got me thinking that I needed to write a song about it. I knew I didn’t want it to be maudlin. Instead, I thought why not write a high-energy song, one that told the story of the fire and the flood, but also relayed the message that we didn’t lose everything—we still have so much left. Things were going to be all right. I believe that, and while many people had to give up, I’m rebuilding.”   Phares says that the song’s Sweet-inspired drum intro was there from the beginning. “I initially thought about ‘Ballroom Blitz’ and ‘Sympathy for the Devil.’ I told (Hollywood Stars drummer) Terry (Rae) what I wanted, and the tempo, and he came up with the perfect intro. I also wanted the song to be simple—there are only four chords—and raucous. A song that people didn’t need to be able to sing along to, but instead could shout along. I was aiming for uplifting, a song for letting off steam, if necessary.”    Hey! LA! follows the Hollywood Stars’ comeback effort, 2024’s Starstruck, which marked the band’s first LP of new material in a jaw-dropping 47 years. Recorded at Kitten Robot Studios in Los Angeles, the album was produced by the band, Loren Molinare, and Paul Roessler. Each member of The Hollywood Stars contributed to the songwriting, with occasional outside help by close collaborators.
