“What could have been clear, upbeat power pop arrives with sonic complications instead. Blotchy distortion, faraway piano loops and hyperpop vocal stutters wreck any pretense of nonchalance” The New York Times
“Hard to define Australian popstar” The FADER
“Sugary and explosive, like pop rocks” Stereogum

(July 1, 2026) – Today, daine returns to share a Bassvictim edit of their new single “PQC” via Pack. Records. Bassvictim’s, Maria Manow and Ike Clateman rework the pop tune into a stripped back dance track allowing daine’s vocals to take up the full space. Speaking about the new version of the song daine shares, “This remix breathes cinematic air into ‘PQC.’ It feels like childhood magic, but also the awkward pain and joy of your early twenties. It sounds like running through a meadow cathartically after losing your job or something. It sounds like friendship and forgiveness.”
The new Bassvictim edit of the song follows early praise around the single from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Stereogum as well as The FADER who described the track as, “Catchy as a children’s tune and as dancey as any electroclash banger.” The single arrived alongside a Dylan Marriot-directed video and marked a move away from heavy digital processing and toward something more exposed and human. The new single is also an early taste of a forthcoming debut album.
daine has spent over half a decade exploring a diverse, but distinct sonic palette experimenting with their vocal delivery and refining their craft as a songwriter. The Filipino-Australian artist first emerged through the orbit of Charli XCX’s co-sign, crafting music that sounded simultaneously blown-out and diaristic, intimate confessions stretched into maximalist soundscapes. Since the release of daine’s 2025 EP i want the light to swallow me whole, their profile has continued to expand, with their world-building and genre-fluid approach reaching an ever-growing audience. A major part of that momentum came through their appearance on Ninajirachi’s breakout album I Love My Computer, where “It’s You” — particularly after the underscores remix began circulating online — became the kind of song that existed everywhere at once.
daine is heading on tour with Ninajirachi and Lucy Bedroque across Australia this Summer. The tour begins in Sydney July 3rd and continues on to Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. daine will also be performing at Pitchfork London and Pitchfork Paris this fall. The upcoming dates follow a European support run with yeule and collaborations spanning Oli Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon), Ericdoa, 100 gecs and Kreayshawn.
