Photo credit: Michaela Knizova Today Berlin-based artist, musician and vocalist ANYX shares a second single & video from her debut solo album ‘Starlink’, which is set for release on August 28th via La Rubia Producciones.
Following the assertive grandiosity of album opener and first single, “Ladybirds Spine”, today she shares the spellbinding "Window In Your Eyes". The track sees the delicate tension that underpins the album at its most taut, building gradually through an arrangement of sparse percussion and melodic arpeggios, played on guitar in the first iteration, then on harp. Fluid and expansive, with an insistent sense of forward motion, “Window In Your Eyes” reveals a different side of ANYX's songwriting — one shaped as much by texture, movement and resonance as by narrative. She comments: “This song is special to me because it’s the first time I’ve included a harp in my music. It brought a completely different energy for my voice to react to. The song really became a dialogue — almost a duet — between harp and voice."
The accompanying video, directed by Kurt Heuvens, constructs a musical landscape that moves between body, resonance and transformation. "For me, the kite in this video is a visual translation of the harp within the song — something fluid, restless and fast-moving, almost in constant motion, acting as a counterpart to the darker register of my voice" ANYX explains. "A mercurial and strange companion, orbiting alone in this world we built for ourselves. Mirroring my own emotional states: Sometimes I’m strong, muscular and confident, moving through life with my wings spread wide, but then again I’m fragile, thin-skinned, glued to the ground.
"I wanted the video to capture those shifting emotional states — the physical closeness of my performance set against the vast horizon of the Wadden Sea, overlooked by this strange ghostly figure drifting through the wind."

‘Starlink’ is the first solo work by ANYX – aka Berlin-based artist, musician and vocalist Anna Lucia Nissen – emerging from her previous work as front-person of the trio Anchoress.
Originally trained as a sculptor, ANYX gradually shifted her practice from physical objects towards voice and performance. While her materials have changed, she continues to sculpt songs with the same attention to form, space and resonance. Starting with voice and language as her primary material, she builds visceral performances in which voice and melody move between fragile intimacy and full-bodied intensity. As these songs unfold, voice, body and space become intertwined, blurring the boundaries between concert, ritual and performance art.
Co-written with previous collaborators Alexander Rathbone and Tobias Textor, ‘Starlink’ represents both a progression and something of a return to ANYX’s roots as a visual artist. She takes a sculptural approach to her songs, starting with her voice and words as internal navigation from which she works outwards. Around this core, she builds minimal instrumentation – harp, keys, guitar, double bass – until each song is muscular and multi-dimensional.
The title ‘Starlink’ comes from a night spent looking at what appeared to be stars, but were actually man-made satellites: the miraculous eternity of the natural world interrupted by the machinery and ambitions of modern capitalism. Throughout the album, Nissen explores these incongruities and tensions through ever-shifting arrangements, overlapping textures and songs that transform and bleed into one another.
