“Too electronic to be post-punk, too post-punk to be considered electronic, and a hair too melodic to be straight noise rock… it’s hot, wild, and maybe a little dangerous."
KUTX
“Swathed in avant-garde style and with the kind of energy that could power an entire city… [J’cuuzi] equally embraces fashion shoots and mosh pits.”
Culture Map
“...irreverent attitude and infectiously catchy lo-fi productions reminiscent of the DIY spirit of early Le Tigre.”
New Noise Magazine
May 5, 2026 - Austin, TX: The buzzy collective of Austin, Texas based dance punk fashionistas J'cuuzi announce signing a deal with Spaceflight Records. They will release a full-length collection of songs on July 14 combining two EP's, SLUDGEcontent, previously self-released last summer and Recession Indicator, the new EP with unreleased tracks.
Today they also share their newest bewildering offering asslesschaps.biz, a track that further expands upon the group’s signature genre-defiance. Mimicking the call and response of the track’s guttural guitar distortion and ambulatory synthesizers, singers Trey Razeldazel and Gorge Bones trade fistfuls of zingers in a dizzying game of lyrical tetherball over a pounding garage rock beat. After a brief respite of jangly psychedelic harmonies, the chaos resumes and intensifies to an unexpected circensian climax. Brash, irreverent, and provocative; on asslesschaps.biz, J’cuuzi bare it all, especially their teeth.
asslesschaps.biz is the second single from J’cuuzi’s forthcoming EP Recession Indicator, which follows on the heels of 2025’s acclaimed SLUDGEcontent EP. The Austin Chronicle raved “J’cuuzi’s electric performances have surely contributed to their rapid rise, but their music proves equally captivating. Catchy but noisy, irreverent but ominous”. Both EPs will be available together on 12” vinyl via Spaceflight Records.
J'cuuzi says: “Spaceflight Records are carving new routes through the overgrown post-apocalyptic wasteland that is the modern music industry. Naturally, our partnership was foretold thousands of weeks ago as a harbinger of the coming collapse of the major label and streaming systems. Be wary of the other signs: Pitchfork ratings will rise, streaming numbers will fall, and Dua Lipa will emerge from her goo cocoon as Tria Lipa.”
In conjunction with the video, at the web address with which the track shares its title (asslesschaps.biz), J’cuuzi is for the first time dropping a limited selection of their handmade avant-garde couture for sale, along with one-off merch items designed and created by band members DursByDurs and Gorge Bones.

Describing J’cuuzi as a band is at the very least inaccurate, or worse: incorrect. While they deliver electrifying, borderline acrobatic live performances of high octane, glitchy songs that modulate between serrated post punk guitar and pulsing electro beats, there is a shocking theatricality to them that the word “band” lacks the range to capture. The members wear handmade couture, with bulbous anime-esque proportions and insectile features sewn into drag silhouettes. They often perform while stacked on top of each other, or hoisted over each other’s heads. Their stage is set like a cheap studio apartment: a spinning blue egg chair and a stack of guitar amps sit on either side of a bedazzled ironing board, from which a spinning disco ball hangs.
Since their inception in February 2024, J’cuuzi’s ferocity has earned them opening slots for acts like Viagra Boys, Stereolab, Tune-Yards, Shannon and the Clams, Upchuck, Snooper, and Warmduscher; and landed them on the cover of The Austin Chronicle, as KUTX’s Artist Of The Month, and with nominations for “Best New Act”, “Best Music Video”, and “Best Rock Band” in the Austin Music Awards. In July 2025 the group self-released their debut EP SLUDGEcontent, along with a drone-shot music video featuring the lead single performed live from the back of a moving box truck. Rolling Stone captured the band during this year's SXSW in their 'Best Moments from SXSW' Round-Up.
Whether you call them a band, a performance art troupe, or a fashion house; J’cuuzi has set a pace of expansion and experimentation that proves theirs is an act worth watching. Catch them on the road with international live dates starting this month.
