 “THE TROUBLES” TODAY

April 27, 2026—glaive confirms a new album with his longtime collaborator, best friend and underground producer prodigy kurtains. Set for release May 8God Save The Three honors their shared dynamic which changed the DNA of pop music as we know it—presave/preorder the album here. Ahead of the album, the pair has shared new single “The Troubles”—watch the music video here.
With a video filmed in Kilkee, Ireland, the club-primed dance hit was first performed to glaive’s largest crowd to date, at his London headline show O2 Forum Kentish Town. On the making of the track, the duo share: “‘The Troubles’ came together during a recording trip we made to The Cotswolds in sunny England. It’s a song that reflects the juxtaposition in our lives, representing the tension between our modest yet lavish tendencies. We needed a dance track, so we made a dance track.
kurtains began with the garage-inspired drums layered with soft synth chords, and glaive wrote the iconic hook line referenced in the title and his verse. After a slight struggle for ideas for the second verse, kurtains jokingly rapped over the bassline in a Welsh accent… We laughed, for it felt like magic. This song is inspired by a wide mix of different genres within the dance music realm.
When they were still in school, glaive and kurtains led the charge of an internet-fuelled sound which challenged the parameters of electronic pop music and became a cultural fascination. glaive’s latest album Y’ALL (NPR Music, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, Stereogum) — with kurtains at the helm of its production — captures the story of a teenager pulled up from his roots, finally returning to his hometown in North Carolina at twenty, a radically changed person in an unchanged place. This maturity is reflected in the scale and complexity of sound, while still setting the dancefloor alight.
glaive’s previous works cypress groveall dogs go to heaven, and then i’ll be happy, have all cemented him as a generational artist, lauded by the likes of The New York TimesVultureGQ and The FADER. His second studio album of last year, May It Never Falter, was hailed as a genre-defying body of work that marked the beginning of an independent chapter in his artistry.
May It Never Falter was recorded in the remote landscapes of Iceland and Wales, continuing the Sigur Rós-inspired approach to isolated, immersive recording environments that began with his debut album i care so much i don’t care at all (2023). The album was listed as one of the best of 2024 by Vogue and was supported by a North American and European tour in spring of 2025.
