Gary Marks today has announced his new LP Crossroads, due out on April 18th via Lantern Heights Records. The announcement is accompanied by the groovy, buoyant lead single "I Guess It Never Stops." "We've been recalled to Eden but somehow Eden's not the same," Marks says of the track. "Ancient rainforest chopped down, strip mined, carried off in trains. We all know we're doing it as we tear down this place we're in. See it in board rooms as they divide their share of it. See it in classroom books with little lies built in. See fathers playing God, when children sin, they're shocked. I guess it never stops."

For five decades, Gary Marks has written songs about power, compassion, and freedom — themes that feel strikingly current in 2026. Crossroads gathers that arc into one body of work, including nine previously unheard songs. The songs on each side of the record are chronological, starting with songs from 1976 and ending with songs in the 2020s.

Selected as an official Record Store Day UK/Europe for an April release, this vinyl exclusive traces the continuity of a songwriter whose voice has remained steady and powerful across five decades. He never stopped writing — he only stopped playing the game.

Refusing to tour, Marks kept writing songs long after the music industry stopped paying attention. Crossroads is a rare chance to discover a songwriter whose work bridges generations, and reminds listeners why albums -- and ideas -- still matter.

Lantern Heights Records proudly presents some of Marks's most musically masterful, lyrically powerful works from 1976 to 2021, including a number of rare tracks. With great insight and concern about humanity's path forward, Crossroads speaks to the times we live in.

Gary Marks Bio:

Gary Marks is a five-decade American songwriter whose work has avoided industry demands, guided by artistic autonomy.

He first emerged in the 1970s with three albums featuring musicians who would later become major figures in modern jazz, including guitarist John Scofield in his first-ever studio appearance, along with Paul McCandless (Oregon), Art Lande (ECM), David Samuels, and Mark Isham.

Those early vinyl recordings were later reissued seven times in Europe and Japan over the course of a decade. These albums are now considered cult classics among vinyl collectors.

Over the following decades, Marks continued writing and recording steadily, releasing eight additional albums on his website while remaining outside conventional touring and promotional structures.

Across his catalogue runs a consistent thematic thread: democracy, environmental responsibility, cultural fracture, a connection to love in its highest form, and personal conscience — while using sophisticated harmonies and rhythms.
