(15 October) London-based electronic outfit Oslo Twins today release their new single 'Sirens' - completing a new A/B side - out now digitally and on limited 7" vinyl via Half-Normal Records.
Recorded and produced by band member Eric C. Davies at his east London studio, 'Sirens' follows the summer release of 'All In Your Mind' with both songs planting Oslo Twins firmly in London’s after-dark orbit, with their hypnotic, industrial-tinged electronica feeling more alluring than ever before.
Threading tension and release through its pulse, 'Sirens' drifts between the cinematic and the subterranean with flickering synths, shadowy basslines and restless percussion. There’s a trance-like momentum to its build, but also a fragility in its edges, the kind of duality that makes Oslo Twins’ music linger long after the last beat fades.
On the release of 'Sirens', Claudia Vulliamy said:
"Some songs are what I like to call mysterious-disaster songs. I have a playlist of them – they are songs that half-tell a story, describing an experience of great danger and intensity, but leave enough unsaid so that what actually happened is open to interpretation. I’ve refrained from researching the artists’ intended meaning behind these songs, because I like their openness; that’s where the drama lies. Sirens is a mysterious-disaster song. Like our last single All In Your Mind, it focuses on memory – but All In Your Mind had more of a quotidian focus, drawing on beauty in the banal, while Sirens is high-strung. It focuses on something exceptional, transcendental, or cataclysmic."
Drawing from Underworld, Orbital, Ladytron, Everything But The Girl and 90s rave culture, Oslo Twins fuse the driving pulse of club music with the lyrical intimacy of British indie; led by Claudia Vulliamy’s conversational vocals, and the kind of nocturnal melancholy that belongs to rainy streets, flickering night-bus lights and post-club detours.
Following the viral success of their 'Tresor' EP earlier this year - with lead track 'I Wake Up Slowly' surpassing a million streams and gaining extensive radio airplay across Europe, new songs 'All In Your Mind' / 'Sirens' build on their breakthrough moment, with a limited 7" vinyl available to purchase via Half-Normal Records here.
Since their formation, Oslo Twins - led by songwriters Vulliamy and Davies, joined by Ed Lyness and Luke Brown - have supported The Last Dinner Party, Blondshell, English Teacher and performed at Green Man, Sŵn Festival, Manchester Psych Fest, They’re Gonna Be Big (Supersonic, Paris), Dot to Dot and more. Their trajectory has been one of deliberate reinvention, with 'All In Your Mind' / 'Sirens' representing the most confident iteration yet.
Oslo Twins’ debut EP 'Back To Nothing' arrived in 2023 via producer Ali Chant’s Fascination Street Records, followed earlier this year by their 'Tresor' EP - marking a distinct sonic shift. In that time the band have become favourites at BBC 6 Music with consistent airplay from Steve Lamacq, Nick Grimshaw, Huw Stephens, Guy Garvey, and Amy Lamé.
