(New York, NY – October 10, 2025) — Today, María Zardoya, frontwoman of revered indie-pop band The Marías, releases highly-anticipated debut album, Melt, under her solo project Not for Radio via Atlantic Records.
Listen HERE.
Born from an introspective reflection on love’s decay and an urge to push herself further musically, Zardoya crafted an album filled with intimate, psychedelic ballads that embody the reincarnation of that lost love into sound.
Recorded in January 2025 at Flying Cloud Recordings in Upstate New York, the album unfolded in real time as Zardoya unplugged from the outside world and immersed herself in nature and music. The album blends gothic romanticism and baroque pop with digital textures - from the lush ‘60s echoes of “My Turn” to the haunting synthscapes of “Swan” and the dreamlike confession of “Not the Only One.” Zardoya tapped artist-producer Sam Evian, and producer and instrumentalist, Luca Buccellati, and together, crafted Melt.
Zardoya will host a special Los Angeles merch and vinyl pop-up — Not for Radio Presents: GARDEN IN THE GALLERY — taking place Saturday, October 11th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m at 2270 Venice Boulevard. Open to the public, the event invites guests to experience the new album while exploring a gallery space featuring a painting of María by Moses Harborg.
Not for Radio marks a bold new chapter for Zardoya, even as The Marías continue their ascent following their 2024 breakthrough album Submarine, which reached No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and delivered their first Hot 100 single, “No One Noticed.” The band has toured with Billie Eilish, appeared on Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, most recently collaborated with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco on the Latin Airplay-chart topper “Ojos Tristes,” and scored two VMA nominations for ‘Best Alternative’ and ‘Best New Artist’ at this year’s ceremony.
