(February 12, 2024) - Bug Eyed releases their debut EP We Talk Thunderstorms Not Showers (Part 1) today via Atlantic Records.
Bug Eyed’s debut EP includes the previously shared tracks, “Backseats,” a woozy ode to romantic loss; “Ten To Twelve,” a visceral snapshot of altered states and falling for your best friend; “A Rated Horror Movies” a dramatic chronicle of a first major heartbreak, and “Snug as a Bug,” which captures the raw energy of two young souls on their after-hours un-hurried way home. We Talk Thunderstorms Not Showers (Part 1) also has two new tracks “Itching” and “You & I.”
Meeting Bug Eyed — comprised of south-west Londoners Blue O’Grady and Charlie Sale — feels like being swept into a kinetic forcefield of energy, excitement, and unbridled creativity. Their music mirrors this dynamic, delivering their vivid coming-of-age storytelling through a kaleidoscopic blend of indie, electro-pop, hip-hop, 80s synth, and 90s fuzz-rock guitars.
Bug Eyed’s cinematic storytelling unpacks the struggles and joys of being young, spirited, and romantic in today’s chaotic world. Their poetic narratives explore love, intimacy, friendship, ambition, and hope, all set against lush, intricately layered soundscapes that combine synth-pop finesse with driving guitars and boundless sonic experimentation.
After captivating audiences, while supporting Sad Night Dynamite and performing at the Pitchfork Festival in Paris last year, Bug Eyed will hit the road with Lola Young on her UK and European tour, showcasing their electrifying live show.
