FLAMINGOSIS, the creative project of Aaron Velasquez - a New Jersey-raised and Brooklyn-based artist and producer known for fusing soul, funk, jazz, hip-hop, and electronic - has released his sixth studio album, Better Will Come, today May 10.

Extending a creative arc without comparison, Flamingosis strikes a deep emotional chord on Better Will Come. Handcrafted electronic beats, meet live instrumentation, spiked with funk in the center of the dancefloor (right underneath the disco ball). The ensuing overflow of energy might just inspire you to get up and move, fall in love, or even change your life.

“Everyone wants to get better in some way,” he states. “The album highlights my own personal experience of growing, and you can potentially relate your story to what I went through. I learned a lot of hard lessons, but I made a conscious effort to grow in every way—not just musically, but physically, mentally, and spiritually. I did a lot of inner work, and I channeled these experiences into the music. If you pursue self-improvement, life improves around you too.”

In tandem with the album release, Flamingosis is unveiling a new official music video by acclaimed 3D/VR artist Mellomograph aka David Mellor, featuring “Soulsearcher,” the latest focus track off Better Will Come. The snappy grooves and electro-funk of “Soulsearcher” are perfectly emulated in Mellor’s animated video, which is chock-full of serene retro landscapes, bubbly musical notes and, of course, flamingos. Watch the video for “Soulsearcher” here:

A season of transformation and awakening underlined the genesis of Better Will Come.

“Around the time of the Daymaker tour, behind-the-scenes life hit me in an unexpected way I didn’t think was possible,” he recalls. “In turn, I took a downward spiral as a direct result of my poor choices and failure to balance things in my personal life. It was a hard pill to swallow, but I had to get real. I acknowledged it and consciously made a change. I started eating healthier, going to the gym, and seeing a therapist. Everything helped a lot. I funneled the inner pain and turmoil into the music.”

“Soulsearcher” uncorks a blast of sonic sunshine enlivened by ecstatic strings, ebullient keys, engaging horns, and an entrancing vocal. “I finally knew how to finish the song after the life experience I’d gone through,” he shares. “It’s about searching deep, inquiring within, and telling yourself the healthiest way to go on your path.”

“Soulsearcher” joins previously released singles Anime Elegy,” “Nebula Gazer” and “Feel Yourself” featuring viral content creator Marc Rebillet, all of which appear on Better Will Come.

In support of the new music, Flamingosis will hit the road with a full band for the very first time. The Better Will Come Tour kicks off May 17 with a run of west coast dates including stops in Los AngelesSan DiegoSan FranciscoSacramentoPortland and Seattle, among others. Joining Flamingosis who can be found DJing and playing saxophone, will be The Bodega Groove Collectivean all-star band of musicians including Nico Jimenez on percussion (OPIUO live band), Ian Gilley on keys (DIASTRATA [formerly RECESS]), Drew Birch on guitar (DIASTRATA [formerly RECESS]) and Nate Miller on trumpet.
