(15th March) – London singer-songwriter WILDES today releases her new EP 'Subsidence'. WILDES is the recording project of London based Anglo-Irish musician and producer Ella Walker. New EP 'Subsidence' follows WILDES' critical acclaimed 2023 debut album 'Other Words Fail Me'  which featured her collaboration with The Flaming Lips "True Love".

New EP 'Subsidence' finds Walker going back to her roots, self-producing and recording the entire project from her flat in Dalston, recruiting frequent collaborator Matt Wiggins (Adele, Florence and the Machine) to mix the EP. "The EP centres around the abrupt end of a loving relationship that left me quite devastated and shocked," WILDES explains.

Previously noting PJ Harvey and Patti Smith as core influences on her project - new EP 'Subsidence' showcases an alluring sonic evolution for WILDES. From the swirling multi-layered harmonies on "I Was New", to the cavernous "Flow Through" & the captivating sparsity of "Lay Upon Me", WILDES' grasp of tension and release and her eloquent portrayal of romantic trauma is stunningly depicted on lead single "heartbreak is silent" ["Heartbreak is quiet for me / Not the crying in the rain it’s intended to be / Heartbreak is silent for me / Not the burning claret rage of a lover on their knees"].

WILDES' 2023 debut album 'Other Words Fail Me' was more than a documentation of her artistry: it was a testimony of hard-won survival. Scraping together the shards of a world shattered, bloodied fingers and teeth gritted from catching herself on the sharp edges of realities she spent four years trying to ignore, at last, she has built herself an entirely new reflection. After a long period of false dependency ending with her leaving a controlling and abusive relationship, 'Other Words Fail Me' marked a new dawn for Ella Walker.

Since the release of her debut single "Bare", WILDES has tenaciously carved out a path that has seen her release 2 EPs; 'Let You Go' and ‘Illuminate’ and 2023's debut album 'Other Words Fail Me' - with over 60 million accumulative streams to date; firm radio support across BBC Radio 1, 2, and 6 Music, as well as Radio XKCRW, and European stations 3FM, Flux and Radio Eins.

The success of WILDES grabbed the attention of Danger Mouse who became her publisher, and led to over 20 notable syncs on US TV shows like Suits, Scream and The Royals. On top of UK tours and supports with Isaac Gracie, Julia Jacklin, Hamilton Leithauser and Mr Jukes, WILDES' music has received widespread press support from outlets including NPRUncut, Evening Standard, NME, Consequence, The Line Of Best Fit, Metro, Stereogum, Wonderland, Notion, Clash Magazine, DIY Magazine, The Forty-Five, Far Out Magazine and more.

WILDES' new EP 'Subsidence' is out now, released 15th March via Apollo. WILDES celebrates the release of the 'Subsidence' EP with three intimate headline shows this month in Bristol, Leeds and London.
