DEBUT ALBUM BOOM NIGHTS

“Remember being a kid and wondering what music might sound like in the future? It sounds like Glove.”

“It’s a shame that the iconic cover art for the first Strokes album is already taken, because, finally, here’s a band that sounds the way that cover looks. Glove steal shamelessly 80s-ransacking synth-pop and stylistic signposts for their own nefarious ends.”

“Glove is gifting us with the resurrection of real dance music, however dark and brooding it may be.”

Today, Glove releases their first single of 2023, “Chewing on a Wire” alongside a texturally rich official video. Fusing elements of post punk and new wave, Glove both sonically and visually specializes in the intentional clashing of elements. In the self-directed arthouse official video, viewers are invited into a harmonious dance of flesh and wire, further tangling them into the unending fractals of nature and those that are manmade – Watch / Stream.

“’Chewing on a Wire’ is the yearning for the natural and digital world to be able to coexist together,” explains the band. “To believe in the advancement of technology without leaving the natural world behind. Fighting for balance and the battlefield is on the dance floor.”

They continue, “This song was written on the day we got turned down by a record label. It wasn’t significant at the time, but looking back now, it’s funny timing. The song was a completely different version then. The lyrics and notes have stayed the same, but the instruments, BPM and overall feeling have taken new shape. We wrote and recorded this song at home. Actually, the chorus wasn’t fully written till right before we were about to send the song to get mixed and it became our favorite part of the song.”

Starting next month, Glove will set out on a headline run of US and UK tour dates. After gigging their way up the East Coast, they will make a detour to the UK for more headline shows and a few dates supporting Nation of Language. All upcoming shows can be found here and below.

Last year, the band released their debut album Boom Nights. The addictive alt-rock/synthwave offering is the soundtrack to the worst or best night of your life, dealer’s choice. Produced by Cage The Elephant’s Brad Shultz, the album propelled the band to take on their biggest year yet. Some highlights include playing at Austin City Limits, SXSW, Substance Festival and Levitation, tours alongside Jack White, Spoon and Foals, and being included in Rolling Stone’s Best Music of 2022 list.
