August 13, 2021—“Inferno,” the new song from breakout superstar Bella Poarch and alt-pop visionary Sub Urban, premieres today on Warner Records alongside an accompanying video. The cinematic video features nearly twenty guest appearances from their viral inner circle, including Bretman Rock, Pokimane, Valkyrae, TommyInnit, Adin Ross and more. Listen to/share the song HERE and watch/share the video HERE.
As a survivor of sexual assault, this song and video mean a lot to me,” notes Poarch. “This is something I haven’t been ready to share with you just yet. It’s very hard for me to talk about. But I’m ready now. I decided to express myself by creating a song and video with Sub Urban based on how I wished my experience went. It’s a fantasy I wish was true.”
The groundbreaking track sets the stage for more music from Poarch to come soon as she’s gearing up to release her debut EP this fall.
In May, Poarch released her first single Build A Bitch,” which was produced by Sub Urban, to resounding commercial and critical acclaim. Upon its release, the music video for the song hit #1 on the Global and U.S. YouTube video charts, marking the biggest debut ever for a new artist with over 75M views and more than 257M to date. At Spotify, the song peaked at #26 on Top 200 Global and #34 on Top 200 U.S. songs charts while the track has over 485M total global streams. The video also hit 50M likes on TikTok, becoming the first video in history to do so.
“Build A Bitch” continues to receive widespread praise as well—The New York Times declared, “...Poarch is coming into her own music [and] ‘Build a Bitch’ comes across cute and furious,” while Billboard called the track “an audacious, darkly comic slice of new-school pop.” Vogue furthered, “[‘Build a Bitch’] demonstrates both her innate musical talent and ambitions as an artist.”
Bella Poarch is a Filipino-American singer and songwriter who served in the military as a teenager and has been quickly rising since breaking out on TikTok last year. She garnered attention in 2020 when her lip sync videos went viral—she currently has TikTok’s most liked video of all time, is the #3 most-followed creator on the platform and the #1 Asian-American influencer in the world with 77M followers.
Singer, songwriter and producer Sub Urban has spent the last few years writing otherworldly music as a means of processing the turmoil of a tumultuous coming of age. Even on his most beloved songs, he sings about heavy themes—addiction, anxiety and the lonely weight of existence. Sub Urban’s first hit, 2019’s “Cradles,” paved the path for a new generation of alternative. Buoyed by TikTok virality and an accompanying music video, the song hit #1 at U.S. Alternative Radio and has since earned nearly 400M views on YouTube. With over 1B total streams under his belt Sub Urban is gearing up to release his debut album, the follow-up to his 2020 EP, Thrill Seeker.
