Today, Norwegian songwriter Ane Brun debuts “Feeling Like I Wanna Cry” via American Songwriter; Watch/share the video HERE. It was directed by Swedish artist Martin Bergstrom photographer Thomas Klementsson. Ane says, “When Martin told me a year ago about an idea for a video he wanted to create, I immediately thought about this song.” The track is from her forthcoming as-of-yet untitled album, due this fall via Balloon Ranger Records.
“I wrote this song last year, after feeling for a long time that we as humans have been on the wrong track,” Brun explains, “I had been following the many reports of how we’re slowly tearing down biodiversity and disrupting our environment, and a sense of sorrow weighed heavily on my chest… One of the things this pandemic has shown us is that we can act, and we are willing to make rapid structural changes to improve our conditions for survival on this planet. Now we just have to realise that the climate emergency is a similar threat to our existence.”
The release of “Feeling Like I Wanna Cry” follows the previous single “Trust;” watch HERE. Ane hosted a pre-listening party for this single, opening a live chat to fans around the world allowing them to chat and connect during this difficult period of self-isolation.
Billboard premiered the video for first single “Don’t Run and Hide;” read and watch the video: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/9327336/ane-brun-run-dont-hide-video

“Norwegian-born pop singer-songwriter Ane Brun makes music that fits
well into the cinematic world. Her songs are brimming with life and energy while
still touching on feelings of loss and self-doubt.”

“entrancing Norwegian singer-songwriter evokes a haunted Dolly Parton minus the drawl.”
Ane Brun has released twelve studio albums over the last fifteen years via her own imprint, Balloon Ranger Recordings. 2017’s Leave Me Breathless was a collection of covers, featuring reinterpreted versions of hits from Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Nick Cave, Bob Dylan and more. That same year, Brun was invited to perform at the Nobel Prize Dinner and Polar Music Prize Ceremony and in 2018 the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. NPR’s All Things Considered called 2015’s When I’m Free her “best record yet… her most sonically ambitious…” Her second album A Temporary Dive, which was released in 2005, earned her the Norwegian Grammy for Best Female Artist. The New York Times raved of 2008’s Changing of the Seasons, saying the album “offers the kind of comfort that only well-versed singer-songwriters can give. An album full of sad songs to revel in as the days grow shorter and colder, Seasons is Brun’s strongest work yet.”
