Following the release of this spring's Girly-Sound to Guyville -- a 25th anniversary box set commemorating her zeitgeist-defining album, Exile in Guyville, and its equally resonant collection of demo songs -- Liz Phair will be kicking off a rare nationwide tour tonight.  This tour, called the Amps On The Lawn tour, will be the first time Phair plays many of these songs live to audiences around the country. The dates see Phair touring with full band, and also includes sets at this year's Hopscotch Festival, Ohana Festival, and RiotFest in her hometown of Chicago. Acclaimed artistSpeedy Ortiz will be opening for all of Phair's shows.

Phair -- who has sold more than 5 million albums worldwide, three of which have gone gold -- is one of the most important musical voices of the last 25 years. More than two decades after the release of her debut, Phair's influence in contemporary music, particularly over female voices in alternative music, can be felt today more than ever. The wildfire response to the release of Girly-Sound to Guyvillerecemented Phair as an artist whose work is as meaningful in 2018 as it was in 1993.

Praise for Girly-Sound to Guyville:
"Listening to Exile in Guyville still feels this way: Like someone is telling you that all the weird, uncomfortable things you think and worry about are, in fact, just ordinary fears. Those feelings, it turns out, are simply the fallout of being alive" - Pitchfork

"...if ever there was a time to revisit Guyville, it is now - in a moment when its walls seem to be tumbling. Matador re-releases the album this month, along with songs from three cassettes Ms. Phair put out under the name "Girly-Sound" in 1991. Those young women who were touched by it 25 years ago are now marching, running for office, proclaiming #MeToo" - New York Times

"One of the sharpest, boldest rock albums of its era, or any era" - Washington Post

"Keyaddition to the alternative-rock canon" - Rolling Stone

"Bringing these songs back isn't just for nostalgia's sake. They've never been more relevant" -Stereogum

"She remains in a category all her own" - Slate

"Many women still see the world, and ourselves, through the sound of those 18 songs" - Huffington Post

"Hearing the entirety of the new boxed set is to realize more than ever that the celebrated shock value in a handful of the songs was just part of the story in an enormous outpouring of creativity that helped redefine not just what a woman could write about, but a man, too, even though hers remains a fairly inimitable voice, whether we're talking about what came out of her mouth or from below the capo" - Variety

"Her music remains exactly as relatable, smart, and genuine in 2018 as it was in 1993...The Girly-Sound material is as good as what's on Exile-which is to say it's brilliant" - FLOOD Magazine
