(March 7, 2018 – New York, NY) Blacksmith/Def Jam Recordings artist Vince Staplesis no stranger to criticism. In response to recent comments, Staples has launched aGoFundMe page today to encourage all of his critics to #GTFOMD or help him raise 2 million dollars to shut him up forever.
“Hey everybody, my name is Vince.
First and foremost I hope you're having a great day, I really do. Second, we've got a lot of complaints about our recent show performances, energy on stage, production choice; I think one person said "it sounds like we’re rapping on robot video game beats". We would like to apologize for that.
Secondary, well this is tertiary I guess, we would like to give you an alternative. OnGoFundMe.com you can decide to donate to the cause of 2 million dollars, which will allow me to shut the fuck up forever and you will never hear from me again. No songs, no interviews, no anything. If not, you can choose to let me do what the fuck I want to do, when I want to do it. Get off of my d***, or fund my lifestyle. The choice is yours. Either way we appreciate you.” – Vince Staples
Vince recently wrapped up a national co-headlining tour with Tyler, The Creator and has second-line billing on the main stage at Coachella next month, this will mark his second performance at the coveted festival in 3 years.
Since 2010, Vince has worked with dozens of today’s hottest artists, and has been featured on tracks with (among many others) the Gorillaz ("Ascension"), Flume ("Smoke & Retribution"), Schoolboy Q (“Ride Out”), and most recently is one of the artists featured on Kendrick Lamar's all-star Black Panther: The Album soundtrack.
