In October 2017, FKA twigs introduced the first issue of her new AVANTgardenconcept: an original digizine built and distributed using Instagram's slide features. Titled 'ROOTS. SHOCK. BEAUTY.' issue one (available to view HERE) was a visual exploration of braided hair styles and featured a host of FKA twigs' friends and long term collaborators.
Today, FKA twigs releases the second issue of AVANTgarden. Titled 'Dream Warrior,' the issue sees FKA twigs again teaming up with some incredible creative talent including photographer David Ozochukwu (who twigs collaborated with on the Nike campaign she creatively directed back in January), stylist Matthew Josephs and editor Suzannah Pettigrew. 'Dream Warrior'features a portfolio of stunning imagery alongside an original poem from FKA twigs herself that weaves throughout this issue
'Dream Warrior' also features a brand new range of FKA twigs apparel. Available today via https://shop.fkatwi.gs/, the collection includes two pajama sets ('protection signs' and 'ancient spells'), shorts (also with 'protection signs' and 'ancient spells' print options), an eye mask, and a range of tees and pin badges.
Speaking about the collection, FKA twigs states: "I've always worn my mother's silk PJs on stage from my very first tour, but they wore out so I wanted to make some of my own. I'm also obsessed with sets and bold prints and, through my exploration of mysticism, I created symbols that protect and invite otherworldly creatures to assist those who wear the sets in their everyday lives. More than anything I wanted people who wear the PJs out into the world to know they know that they look the bomb, even in sleepwear, cause that's just how they roll"
