Sigur Rós announce more acts for NORÐUR OG NIÐUR festival

Sigur Rós announce more acts for their NORÐUR OG NIÐUR festival in Iceland between Christmas and New Year
MOGWAI, JÓHANN JÓHANNSSON, BLANCK MASS, ALEXIS TAYLOR and THE ICELANDIC DANCE COMPANY are among the next acts announced in Sigur Rós's ambitious takeover of Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavík's largest arts venue, December 27-30

As revealed last week, this coming December Sigur Rós curate Harpa, Reykjavik's premiere state-of-the-art performance venue, hosting four days of music, dance, film and spoken word from the band's friends, collaborators and heroes.
The next acts announced for NORÐUR OG NIÐUR are as such: Scottish art-rock pioneers MOGWAI, bringing songs from their acclaimed new long player Every Country's SunJÓHANN JÓHANNSSON,who will perform his seminal album from 2002, Englabörn, with ensemble. The visceral and dynamicICELANDIC DANCE COMPANY will be performing a newly commissioned work featuring new music from Sigur Rós. BLANCK MASS (aka Benjamin John Power - one half of FUCK BUTTONS) will bring his one-man maelstrom of hissing electronica and furious beats. HOT CHIP vocalist ALEXIS TAYLORhead over for a solo excursion, up-close and intimate, playing works from his recent Piano solo album and beyond.
More local luminaries to add the line-up include the volcanically powerful MAMMÙT, and the delicate leanings of KRISTIN ANNA (of lullaby electronic heroes MÙM). Composer KJARTAN HOLM and film-maker CALEB SMITH join forces in a performance that manipulates sound and vision.
DR NELLY BEN HAYOUN, recognised worldwide as the 'Willy Wonka of Design and Science', presents her thought-provoking film Disaster Playground and a compelling keynote speech alongside it. Further performers and happenings will be announced in the coming weeks.
They join the likes of sometime PULP frontman, JARVIS COCKERMY BLOODY VALENTINE's KEVIN SHIELDS, legendary US avant-gardists STARS OF THE LID, musical wunderkind DAN DEACON and electronic looper JULIANNA BARWICK for this unmissable event in Europe's northernmost capital.
"We are beyond excited about NORÐUR OG NIÐUR," say Sigur Rós. "Organising your own festival is brilliant, you draw-up a fantasy league of all your favourite players, reach out to people, cross your fingers, and with a little bit of luck and good timing, get a wholly phenomenal squad of unbeatable talent all in one place at one time ready to make magic happen."
4-day passes for NORÐUR OG NIÐUR will be strictly limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis*. General on-sale for NORÐUR OG NIÐUR passes will be Thursday, September 28th.For updates, exclusive announcements and pre-sales be sure to register at nordurognidur.is (see below for full ticketing information).
No-one lights up December's darkest days quite like the Icelanders. Reykjavík's reputation for being able to throw a party is not lightly earned, and NORÐUR OG NIÐUR will significantly ramp up a holiday season already filled with fun, festivities and a truly insane arsenal of fireworks.
