OLGA BELL | AMERICA EP

A companion to 2016’s critically-acclaimed Tempo — recognised as one of the year’s Top 20 Pop/R&B albums by Pitchfork — Olga Bell’s America EP is available everywhere as a surprise release on American Independence Day, July 4th. The EP features two searching, previously unreleased tracks Special Leave and Cab Driver, as well a remix of the portentous title track by Bristol-based grime virtuoso Kahn
"…dance music as glimpsed through a funhouse mirror: strangely distorted, sometimes goofy, and deeply pleasing on a simple, almost childlike level.”
Pitchfork

“This is soul music for the dance floor…a clever, courageous album deserving of a wide audience.”
Loud & Quiet

Tempo was featured on NPR’s “Weekend Edition Saturday” around its release—listen to Bell’s conversation with host Scott Simon here. The album’s first single “Randomness” received a “Best New Track” designation from Pitchfork after it was premiered by Dummy, who described the house-influenced track as “the fuel of self-manifestation.” The Minister Akins-directed video premiered on i-D, who called the video “fire” and said of the track, “if you’re anything like us, you’ve probably had [it] stuck in your head since it surfaced earlier this month.”

The album’s second single “ATA” was premiered on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio by DJ Julie Adenuga, who raved, “Music lovers: every once in a while a tune comes around that makes you stop…Thank you, THANK YOU for making this music.” The video for “ATA” premiered via VICE’s The Creators Project. A collaboration with Tokyo-based artist and programmer Baku Hashimoto(featuring photography by Josh Wool), the site calls the video “surreal, dark and beautiful."
