Wussy Release New “Dropping Houses” Video
Forever Sounds Out March 4th
On Tour Now
“America’s best songwriting band might now be among its best soundscaping ones”
- SPIN
“A swaggering, bleary, distorted churn topped off by another virtuoso vocal duet”
- Stereogum
“Maximum singability and staying power” - Pitchfork
Following the release of lead single “Dropping Houses”, Cincinnati’s Wussy has now added a dynamic visual accompaniment to the track. Premiered today on Stereogum
and directed by Scott Fredette, the video offers an ominous twist to a
modest performance video. With colorful bursts of light and flashes we
see the band contrasted against a black background with the overlay of
vibrantly layered stills of galaxies, shooting stars, and eerily
abstract treetops. The lyrics look back on a toxic relationship and
reference the Wizard of Oz through a singable wall of noise and fuzzy melodic swirl. Dubbed by SPIN as “their most challenging and densely textured to date”, the band’s sixth full-length Forever Sounds will be released March 4 via Shake It Records & Damnably (UK/Europe).
Following the release of their cult classic debut in 2005, “to certain fans of Lucinda Williams, Crazy Horse, Mekons and R.E.M., Wussy became the best band in America almost instantaneously with...Funeral Dress” (SPIN). Made
up of Chuck Cleaver (Ass Ponys), Lisa Walker, Mark Messerly, Joe Klug,
and John Erhardt, the band has truly come into their own on the new
album. While their pop sensibilities remain intact, the mix and
instrumentation are more reminiscent of the band’s noise-heavy live
shows. The album’s ten tracks are full of hope, determination,
heartbreak, deception, aliens, the supernatural, the everyday,
friendship, love and second chances. Get a glimpse of what the album has
in store with the official track listing below and be sure to catch
Wussy on their nation wide tour happening now.
